Race 10 - IT@WORK MOBILE PACE
Junior driver K Newman (HIGH FLYING HARRY) assisted by J Dunn defended a charge alleging that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his runner was given full opportunity to win the race when electing not to shift his horse outwards between the 600 metres and 300 metres when an opportunity existed resulting in HIGH FLYING HARRY becoming held up behind a weakening runner leaving the final bend. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

SUNNY SON - held up in the early stages of the run home.
NORDIC PRINCE - trotted roughly in the run home.
T K NIHILATOR - trotted roughly racing into the first bend and had to be steadied. Held up in the early stages of the run home. Hung inwards over the concluding stages.
GINAS MAJESTY - trotted roughly in the middle stages.
EL CONQUEROR - began awkwardly.
JUST RICKY - shifted inwards abruptly at the start and broke.
AIGUILLE - broke shortly after the start. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking at this stage of the race.
PRESIDENT PAT - over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Broke near the 200 metres.
Race 2   HAIRPLAY REEFTON PACE
WEBS REACTOR - late scratching on Veterinary advice.
THE HYENA - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
MCCRIKEY - broke shortly after the start. When asked to comment on the performance junior driver B Hope advised the gelding had worked hard in the middle stages to improve its position with the effort taking its toll. Mr Hope added in his opinion the horse would derive considerable benefit from the run.
CAMLEIGH ROSE - broke at the start.
FALCON'S MONARCH - Trainer J Harrington was issued with a $50 Minor Infringement Notice when being late to notify the blinds would be removed from this gelding for today. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
NADIRA FRANCO - slow to begin.
AMARLA - the Boring Pole was removed prior to the start due to the filly warming up unfavourably. Fractious prior to the start. Hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages. Driver J Dunn reported he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners due to the filly pacing more fluently today than in recent starts.
Race 3   APPARELMASTER MOBILE PACE
YOU FLY WITH ME - held up throughout the run home.
GOSAKHI - paced roughly at the start. Held up throughout the run home.
YOU CAN FLY ARDEN - crowded in the early stages and had to be steadied. When asked to comment on the performance driver S Ottley advised the mare had got back further back than anticipated in the early stages after being crowded at the start and had been unable to make ground after being forced to improve wide on the final bend.
MELANDO CHIEF - fractious leaving the pre-race formation and in the early stages of the score-up. Sent to the Unruly position by starter R Donnelly where this gelding will now be drawn for future mobile starts. Raced wide in the early stages.
ROCK'N KIWI - hung inwards at the start crowding inside runners. Continued to hang inwards racing into the first bend. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - hung inwards at the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Weakened on the final bend.
MAXIMILIAN - held up until late in the run home.
OWHATANIGHT - over-raced in the middle stages. Paced roughly passing the 600 metres losing ground.
BUDDY REIGN - trainer K Musso was warned for presenting this gelding to race with fixed deafeners and not the notified removable deafeners. This gear was corrected prior to the start.
Race 4   KOHATU FLAT ROCK CAFE/RON CROOK MEMORIAL PACE
MICK BETH - driver B Hope reported only one hopple shortener had released due to the cord becoming entangled.
PEMBROOK TILLY - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced in the middle stages.
CHANGEOVER JO - reared prior to the start and briefly lost its footing.
MANZINI - paced roughly in the early stages. Inconvenienced passing the 100 metres when an inside runner shifted wider on the track.
SARASOTA SUNSET - raced wide in the early stages.
MAKWALA - over-raced in the middle stages. Hung inwards near the 1100 metres striking a track marker. Held up in the early stages of the run home then hung outwards when obtaining clear racing room passing the 100 metres and shifted up the track, inconveniencing MANZINI. Driver R Close reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition. Mr Close advised he would be recommending gear changes be made prior to the gelding racing next.
EL SIRRAR - raced wide in the early stages.
FULL OF DESIRE - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres.
Race 5   BRIAN ROSANOWSKI MEMORIAL TROT
The start of this race was delayed due to the gear on GOOSE HEALY requiring adjustments.
GOOSE HEALY - broke in the early stages.
GOTTA TICKET - weakened on the final bend before breaking near the 450 metres.
HARBOUR QUEEN - broke in the early stages losing all chance.
BELLA BUTTON - driver S Lethaby admitted a charge of using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight. After considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
ANNA'S BOY - broke in the early stages losing all chance.
SHIFFTY - driver G Smith admitted a charge of using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight. After considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Smith's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 1 January 2022 up to and including 11 January 2022 (3 days)
QUIK SHOT - driver T Williams reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MURANO - trotted roughly throughout the run home.
Race 6   PROPERTY BROKERS LINDA JONES MOBILE PACE
BEEPS - broke in the score-up checking a second line runner resulting in a false start being declared. Driver B Borcoskie elected to remain in his allotted barrier position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SWAP OVER - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MYRCELLA - raced wide in the early stages. Crowded approaching the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
OLDE OAK EMMA - crowded approaching the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
CHARLIE'S ACE - held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver G Thornley was shown the films and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground approaching the 100 metres.
WITH GRACE - lay inwards when improving wide passing the 1200 metres, having to be corrected by driver J Dunn.
SPECIALE UNO - lost ground for a distance passing the 600 metres despite the efforts of driver R May. Held up over the concluding stages.
WILL HE ROCK - raced wide in the early stages. Compounded from the 900 metres and was eased out of the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some nasal discharge and to be showing the early signs of a respiratory infection. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7   ROSCO CONTRACTORS LTD REEFTON CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
JAZELLE - connections advised this mare would be racing in season. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. Weakened from the 600 metres.
JIMMY ARMA - broke briefly at the start.
JUST HOLLA - hung inwards when weakening on the final bend and struck several track markers.
TAS GIRL BROMAC - hung inwards passing the 1000 metres and struck track markers. Weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with trainer J Harrington in the coming days regarding the mare's recovery.
KIWI X FACTOR - held up briefly on the final bend by a weakening runner.
LAST OF THE MOHICANS - weakened on the final bend.
Trainer J Harrington advised Stewards on 7 January that TAS GIRL BROMAC has been treated for a virus since racing at Reefton and will resume at Richmond on Sunday.
Race 8   LANTERN COURT MOTEL MOBILE PACE
PRECIOUS SARA - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
KANSAS CITY JIM - broke racing over the crossing rounding the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Junior driver K Newman reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds or release the removable deafeners due to the cords becoming entangled.
LILAC BECKY - paced roughly in the home straight.
TAIRLAW TOLL - raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
DENNIS DENUTO - hung inwards and struck track markers rounding the first bend.
MAKASAR BOY - out of position at the candy pole. Driver S Ottley was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. When asked to comment on the improved performance trainer D Mitchell advised the gelding has been racing against higher rated horses and had appreciated the drop in class of today's opposition. Mr Mitchell added that the horse races best on grass tracks and has performed well on this course previously.
JENABELLA - over-raced in the middle stages.
QUARTERBACK - out of position at the candy pole and start. Driver A Cameron was issued with a warning.
Race 9   REMEMBERING ALAN CLARKE (CLARKEE) PACE
ROCKNIZZY RULZ - hung outwards in the early stages. Weakened on the final bend.
TERRIER - broke at the start.
CLASSEY ROBIN - connections advised this mare would be racing in season. Briefly hampered at the start. Held up leaving the final bend.
Race 10   DAWSONS HOTEL HANDICAP TROT
There was a slight delay to the start due to OUTAMYWAY requiring farrier attention.
MADELEINE STOWE - broke rounding the first bend. Weakened from the 700 metres. When asked to comment on the performance driver R May reported the mare had failed to handle the track conditions.
BRIGHT GLOW - weakened on the final bend.
MAJESTIC JAG - broke briefly rounding the first bend. Hung inwards late in the run home
BAXTER - broke at the start losing ground. Held up on the final bend.
OUTAMYWAY - trotted roughly in the run home.
