When questioned regarding the performance Mr Mitchell stated the gelding failed to handle the track in what was its first race night start. Trainer T Mitchell advised Stewards on 28 May that KINGS WATCH had undergone a further veterinary examination which revealed some soreness in both fore which has been treated.

THE MOONSTONE - weakened final turn hampering trailing runners. Shifted inwards into the passing lane early in the run home briefly hampering a trailing runner. Stewards opened an investigation into this incident due to Driver P Ferguson having left the course. Stewards concluded the investigation into THE MOONSTONE (P Ferguson) shifting down into the passing lane on straightening for the run home. Mr Ferguson explained that his filly had commenced to weaken and he was mindful of hampering trailing runners so shifted for safety reasons. After considering the matter Stewards took no further action other than to remind Mr Ferguson of his obligations given similar circumstances in the future.

SELF ASSURED - Stewards opened an investigation into the manner in which Driver M Purdon used his whip in the run home due to Mr Purdon having left the course. Stewards concluded the adjourned investigation into the manner in which Driver M Purdon (SELF ASSURED) used his whip in the run home. Mr Purdon admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein on one occasion near the 100m.
