Race 1   JARVIS "SPUDMAN" MOBILE PACE
THE REVENANT - hung inwards in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. Broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
ALWAYS B MINE - paced roughly in the early stages. Over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly final turn and in the run home when weakening.
KINGS WATCH - Trainer T Mitchell was issued a warning for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Paced roughly final turn and throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Mitchell stated the gelding failed to handle the track in what was its first race night start.
CLASSIC ELEGANCE - lay in throughout. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 2   DAILY FREIGHT HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared due to MAJESTIC BUNDY standing sideways when the strands were released. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
HAPPY HILL - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 600m. Weakened early in the run home before breaking passing the 150m losing all chance.
AND REMEMBER ME - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 600m.
DOLLY P - raced fiercely through the early and middle stages when leading causing Driver M Perriton considerable difficulty. Weakened from the 600m hampering trailing runners. Broke near the 500m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
ARADNE - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 600m and broke after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of AND REMEMBER ME losing all chance.
FERDINAND - trotted roughly through the middle stages losing ground and trailed the field thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer T Mitchell advised he would have the gelding examined by his Veterinarian in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards the results.
The track was downgraded to Easy following this event.
Race 3   DAYAVEG MOBILE PACE
PRINCE MIKI - held up for clear racing room in the run home.
HAWKEYE PIERCE - over-raced middle stages and paced roughly for several strides passing the 1100m.
SEACLUSION - shifted up the track in the run home. Driver G Sugars was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the home straight in future.
MANTRA - late scratching at 10.51am on veterinary advice.
NEXT LEVEL - raced wide early. Lay inwards rounding the turns. Raced greenly passing the 900m. Raced four wide from the 550m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver M White confirmed the gelding had raced greenly throughout and would be recommending gear changes prior to the horse resuming.
LINCOLN COVE - paced roughly in the run home.
DOMINUS - lay in and contacted track markers near the 1250m. Held up early final turn.
BILLY THE KID - raced wide early.
ALWAYS A PORSCHE - raced wide from the 1150m.
Race 4   PRIMOR PRODUCE HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared due to the front barrier strand failing to clear the legs of FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY which had proved fractious despite the efforts of Driver M Williamson.
FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY - again fractious prior to the restart causing a delay. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Lay in final turn contacting a track marker.
ALDEBARAN PIPPI - lay in contacting track markers final turn.
CON GRAZIA LOVE - Driver M McKendry was shown the replay and reminded of his obligations in relation to the manner in which he drove racing down the back straight the last time and rounding the final turn when to the outside of SOUTHERN DIAMOND.
JASINOVA - broke at the start and continued on in a break for the majority of the event despite the efforts of Driver L Chin. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
KIMKAR DASH - pre-race warmed. Trotted roughly early losing ground. Lay in racing into the first turn hampering an inside runner. Lay in again near the 900m losing ground.
SOUTHERN DIAMOND - hampered racing into the first turn by an outside runner which lay in and lost ground.
Race 5   BALLE BROS MOBILE PACE
LEO LINCOLN - held up early final turn.
BETTOR HEIST - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - shifted out leaving the final turn but was immediately corrected by Driver C Hackett.
ESCAPE ARTIST - when questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that being forced wide when attempting to improve leaving the back straight the final time on fast closing sectionals had taken its toll.
Race 6   BRECKON FARMS NORTHERN TROTTING DERBY MOBILE TROT
LUCKY MUM - held up final turn. Briefly hampered near the 175m when looking for a run in the passing lane.
FATHER BARRY - broke near the 150m losing its chance.
EMPIRE CITY - over-raced passing the 2200m when being restrained to obtain cover. Held up early final turn. When questioned regarding the performance Driver R May stated that after having worked hard early he felt it was his best option to hand up when challenged by THE MOONSTONE given the 2700m distance of tonight's event. Mr May further advised that he felt the filly had gone to ease up for several strides when improving to the inside of the breaking FATHER BARRY passing the 150m before finishing on strongly over the final stages.
BOUNCE N BEYOND - held up final turn.
BOLT FOR THE HILL - Junior Driver S Burley (assisted by M White) admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Burley's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 31 May up to and including 18 July 2024 (7 days).
THE MOONSTONE - weakened final turn hampering trailing runners. Shifted inwards into the passing lane early in the run home briefly hampering a trailing runner. Stewards opened an investigation into this incident due to Driver P Ferguson having left the course.
Race 7   TRILLIAN TRUST AUCKLAND CUP FFA PACE
KANGO - hampered rounding the final turn when locking wheels with ALTA METEOR and lost ground.
ALTA METEOR - hung inwards rounding the final turn locking wheels with KANGO losing ground and hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
OLD TOWN ROAD - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
MACH SHARD - broke at the start but soon settled. Broke near the 400m after striking the sulky wheel of SELF ASSURED losing all chance. Junior Driver C Hackett (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 20 June 2024 (4 days).
SELF ASSURED - Stewards opened an investigation into the manner in which Driver M Purdon used his whip in the run home due to Mr Purdon having left the course.
REPUBLICAN PARTY - hampered near the 300m.
BETTER ECLIPSE - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 8   REHARVEST ROWE CUP FFA TROT
MIDNIGHT DASH - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed.
EUROKASH - Co-trainer G Hope advised Stewards on 24 May that the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final turn.
JUST BELIEVE - Driver G Sugars will be spoken to and warned for crossing his reins late in the run home and performing a celebratory gesture.
MUSCLE MOUNTAIN - when questioned regarding the performance Driver B Hope stated that he was disappointed with the run and that the gelding would be spelled.
Race 9   POWELL TRANSPORT 45th NORTH ISLAND BREEDERS STAKES HCP PACE
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - paced roughly for several strides shortly after the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Lay in at various stages. Held up throughout the run home with Driver T Mitchell not activating the removable deafeners as a result.
ACUSHLA MACHREE - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 10   NZ ONION CO. MOBILE PACE
MYDADTHETERROR - badly hampered by weakening runners leaving the back straight the final time losing ground.
NELSON'S BOY - paced roughly for several strides entering the first turn when briefly placed in restricted room.
PRECIOUS BET - pressured when leading middle stages. Weakened from the 500m. Hung inwards final turn contacting several track markers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
DONTLETFEARSTOPYA - lay in entering the first turn when being steadied briefly placing an inside runner in restricted room.
FIFTH AND FINAL - paced roughly rounding the first turn losing ground. Over-raced middle stages when outside the leader. Weakened final turn.
