Driver J Brownlee was warned for using his whip when out of contention and also with more than a wrist flicking motion. Mr Brownlee was also queried regarding his tactics over the early and middle stages when, after having worked hard when attempting to hold the early lead, he then allowed his mare to race clear in the lead down the back straight on the first occasion when he had the opportunity to steady the tempo so as to give his runner some respite. Mr Brownlee stated that although this was BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE's first start back from a spell the mare had trialed on four occasions and felt that she should of been competitive with the sectionals recorded. After considering the matter Stewards issued a warning on this occasion and advised Mr Brownlee that he would be expected to show better judgment given similar circumstances in the future.
