ZOLTAN BOSCIK - Stewards questioned driver L Whittaker regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 700m when electing to shift inwards and race on the marker line. Mr Whittaker explained that the horse had recently returned from a spell and due to the race being run at a slow tempo in the middle stages he felt if he had improved wide on the track he would be forced to race very wide on the final bend. Mr Whittaker added that the horse had been hanging outwards causing him some difficulty and felt his best option was to shift inwards and save ground. After considering his explanation Stewards were satisfied his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further. Mr Whittaker admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Whittaker's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 2 April 2025 (4 days). | |||||||||||
