Race 8 - GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
Stewards questioned drivers R Close (SWEET DREAMS) and S Tomlinson (OAKLEY SHARD) regarding the breaking of SWEET DREAMS near the 250m. After hearing from both drivers and viewing the replays it was established that OAKLEY SHARD had been hanging inwards and was slow to react when being shifted wider on the track with SWEET DREAMS also hanging inwards when improving wide and despite the efforts of both drivers SWEET DREAMS' hind leg made contact with the sulky wheel of OAKLEY SHARD resulting in the horse breaking and losing all chance. After considering this matter Stewards were satisfied both horses had contributed to the incident and no driver was found to be at fault.
Stewards also questioned Mr Close and Miss Tomlinson regarding the reasons they did not attend the Stewards room following the race when requested to do so. After considering their explanations, it was established that a miscommunication had occurred between all parties and no further action was required.
