Race 1   SWEET LOU AT WOODLANDS TENDER CLOSES 9 OCT - COND MOB PACE
SPIRITED BELLE - Driver S Abernethy reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer M Collins stated that the mare was racing with notified gear changes after having recently rejoined his stable and had benefitted from an economical run.
INNOCENT MAN - weakened rounding the final turn hampering a trailing runner.
CLOUDING OVER - had to be steadied approaching the 1800m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. Continued to race keenly. Raced wide without cover from the 1050m.
FRANCO MIKI - raced wide with cover from the 1050m. Locked sulky stays briefly with an outside runner approaching the 100m.
FRANCO SALAH - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1500m.
MISS BRABANT - raced wide early.
TUGAWAR - raced wide with cover from the 1050m. Locked sulky stays briefly with an inside runner approaching the 100m.
REET PETITE - hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
Race 2   CLASSIQUE LANDSCAPERS TROT
BIJOU - unable to hold the back of the leader racing down the back straight the first time which enabled REBEL CASTLETON to shift in to fill that position.
FRANCO RONALDO - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
ROYAL PETITE - broke shortly after the start but soon settled.
Race 3   HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE
BRUNO BRIGADE - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Under pressure near the 1000m. Weakened entering the final turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed tenderness to the off fore tendon. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
YANKEE FLYBYE - checked and broke entering the first turn hampering trailing runners but soon settled.
SAMMY LINCOLN - back from position at dispatch despite the efforts of Driver A Poutama. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Held up briefly approaching the 500m.
JUST US TWO - Driver N Purdon admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly entering the first turn when shifting in when not sufficiently clear checking YANKEE FLYBYE (P Ferguson) which broke. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $500. Mr Purdon was also warned for the manner in which he drove near the 1150m when shifting ground inwards which resulted in an inside runner being taken down into the passing lane briefly.
MIDFREW LUCRE - weakened leaving the final turn.
MUCHACHO - required assistance from an Attendant prior to the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Paced roughly and lost ground approaching the 1200m before having to be steadied when carried down into the passing lane after an outside runner shifted inwards near the 1150m. Locked wheels with an inside runner near the 750m losing ground. Driver J Dickie was warned for the manner in which he drove in this incident when not conceding his position earlier. Weakened leaving the final turn.
MICK KONSTANTIN - hampered by a breaking runner first turn. Locked wheels with an outside runner near the 750m losing ground.
COLONEL LINCOLN - weakened final turn.
Race 4   CLC CONSTRUCTION COND HANDICAP TROT
SOUTH SYDNEY - weakened in the run home.
GRACE N ELEGANCE - when questioned regarding the performance Co-Trainer B Hackett advised that the mare may not of been suited to racing without cover from the middle stages.
CHESINOV - checked by VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO, which shifted outwards approaching the 150m, and hampered a trailing runner. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into this incident.
KAMILLA - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
CYCLONE SALA - broke at the start losing all chance.
BROTHER JOHNSON - hampered approaching the 150m.
Race 5   BUTTERWORTH ELECTRICAL MOBILE PACE
HEARTS N ACES - broke passing the 200m after contacting the sulky wheel of TERE losing ground before settling. Driver B Butcher admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
NEGIZZI - over-raced middle stages before becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of LUCKY AS near the 950m and broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
TERE - placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of connections.
LAS VEGAS - lay in rounding the final turn. Broke near the 250m when being shifted wider on the track by an inside runner. When questioned Trainer/Driver M White advised that his gelding had raced greenly contributing to the incident and no further action was deemed necessary other than to note the circumstances.
ALWAYS A SPRINTER - over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   PLUMBING WORLD TROT
JASINOVA - required assistance from Attendants prior to the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
ILLICIT LOVE - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
REPENDANT - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke again rounding the first turn when trailing the field.
PARAMOUNT SPUR - Trainer J Dickie was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with blinds which had not been notified. Broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 2nd placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding broke in excess of 150m over the early stages. Connections did not contest the protest and PARAMOUNT SPUR was disqualified by Stewards.
LUCA - broke near the 1800m losing considerable ground. Broke again approaching the 800m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 7   WOODLANDS STUD - NI SILK ROAD WINTER SERIES FINAL MOB PACE
AUNTY ROSE - Driver T Cameron was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home. Mr Cameron was also questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the final stages. He explained that the mare had not been responding to his urgings and he felt that outside runners had headed him so he elected not to continue placing his runner under any undue pressure. After considering his explanation Mr Cameron was reminded of his obligations to ensure he drives his runner out to the finish when in similar circumstances in the future.
MERLE MARY - over-raced middle stages.
FLY HIGH - weakened from the 900m and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
RIDE THE WAVES - raced four wide when improving from the rear entering the front straight to receive the bell after FLY HIGH shifted out from the running line. It was established that Driver A Poutama (FLY HIGH) had commenced his outward movement prior to RIDE THE WAVES reaching his sulky wheel and Stewards took the matter no further.
Race 8   CARRFIELDS LIVESTOCK HANDICAP TROT
THE MERC - connections advised that the gelding has had both hocks treated since last having raced. Broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of connections.
MONARCH MUSCLE - slow early losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the trainer's request.
CHICKIES BABE - Driver J Dickie admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
MEMORIES - Driver T Macfarlane was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour late in the run home. Mr Macfarlane stated that MEMORIES had trotted roughly on various stages during the running and in particular rounding the final turn and early stages of the home straight. He further stated that after activating the removable deafeners when attempting to improve in the passing lane that he had used the whip on at least six occasions and felt that the gelding was doing its best over the final stages. After considering the matter Stewards took no further action on this occasion other than to remind Mr Macfarlane of his obligations to drive in such a manner that leaves no room for query in the future.
MUM'S ANGEL - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
KENNY HILL - slow early losing ground. Trotted roughly through out and lost ground from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in both off side legs. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 9   OMAH GROUP HANDICAP PACE
A false start was declared at the first attempt due to the front barrier malfunctioning and failing to clear the inside runners.
ULTIMATE CULLECT - broke briefly at the start. Raced in restricted room late in the run home having to be steadied short of the winning post.
TWISTA - pre-race warmed.
FINAL CHANGE - held up early in the run home.
Race 10   STALLION EXPO 25 JULY AT BRECKON FARMS MOBILE TROT
SON OF THE CLEANER - contacted the final track marker in the run home when in restricted room.
BOLT FOR THE HILL - hampered when held up by a weakening runner leaving the final turn.
MAGIC DASH - weakened leaving the final turn hampering a trailing runner.
SHEZ BELLA - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
