Race 3 - TENNENT ENGINEERING NZ AMATEUR DRIVER CHAMPS (HT 4) MOB PACE
Amateur driver C Negus (THE BETTOR MAJOR) defended a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mrs Negus, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $500.

Race 1   HILLCREST AGISTMENT MOBILE PACE
CHEEKY RED - driver T Chmiel admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Chmiel's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 26 July 2026 (4 days).
GIMMESOMELOVIN - raced wide from the 700m.
ROVERT DECISION - held up final bend and early in the run home.
TOUCH N GO - raced wide early.
LONGVIEW TUI - raced wide early.
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver W House. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early.

THE SEAMSTRESS - held up final bend.
SUZY FRANCO - when questioned regarding the performance driver G Thornley advised she was disappointed with the effort and could provide no explanation. Connections advised they will have blood tests taken from the mare in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
ULTIMATE DREAMER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver A Butt. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Raced wide from the 700m.
SCOTLYNN FORTRESS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Close. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early. Again raced wide from the 700m. Lay inwards in the run home. Trainer D Taylor was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after a hopple side carrier came adrift during the running.
CHRISTIAN BALE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start.
BEAUTIFUL CRAZY - lay outwards in the score up. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts. Hung outwards throughout causing driver R May difficulty. Held up final bend. Mr May advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 3   SETH 'MUSCLES' HILL TROT
ALOTOFTROUBLE - broke at the start losing all chance.
MM SUNSHINE - lay inwards final bend striking track markers.
HUCKLEBERRY - broke near the 1300m losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
GO HOME DENISE - held up final bend. Hung outwards in the run home when having difficulty obtaining clear racing room.
ROYAL DIEDRE - driver A Beecroft will be spoken to regarding the manner in which he drove in the run home in the coming days.
SWITCH ON - raced wide from the 700m.
Race 4   ROBIN & JACKIE BUTT MOBILE PACE
MAJOR LI - lay inwards when weakening final bend striking track markers hampering a trailing runner.
JACK'S EYRE - over-raced middle stages.
BRONSKI - held up early in the run home.
FUSION REACTOR - raced wide early.
THERE HE GOES - trainer S Thornley was issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing without the notified sliding blinds. Over-raced early. Weakened in the run home.
FRANCO HUMBIE - raced wide early.
TUPPENCE - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
TALLANDFAST - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
Race 5   WINKY CROSS DULCET TONES PACE
DELILAH - broke at the start losing ground.
BETTABE LOU - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver S O'Reilly advised the filly had been required to work hard when improving forward in the middle stages after breaking at the start with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
EMOCEAN - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened from the 650m.
CULTURE VULTURE - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
GETAWAY CAR - slow in the early stages and paced roughly losing ground. Again paced roughly when weakening final bend.
Race 6   BRAXTON FARRIERS HANDICAP PACE
SUPER FUND - broke at the start losing ground. Locked wheels with SANS REPOS for a distance near the 150m when shifting ground marginally after that runner lay inwards.
SANS REPOS - lay inwards and locked wheels with SUPER FUND which shifted ground marginally for a distance near the 150m having to be steadied. Stewards questioned drivers R Alfeld (SANS REPOS) and W House (SUPER FUND) regarding this incident and after hearing their explanations and viewing the replays, Stewards were unable to apportion sole blame onto any one horse or driver and took the matter no further.
COUNTRY GOLD - held up final bend and had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
OCEAN OF TEARS - raced greenly approaching the first bend. Lay outwards throughout the run home when attempting to utilise the passing lane.
ADAMAS - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
THE GANGSTER - late scratching at 2.58pm on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7   THANKS TO ALL OUR STAFF (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
MOUTON CADET - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
AUNTIE DEB - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Again held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MAJOR HAPPY - driver K Newman was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend.
BRYCE'S MEDDLE - raced four wide from the 500m.
HEAVEN'S MARK - trainer J Morrison advised the mare has had its hocks treated since last racing.
COMMANDER BEN - over-raced middle stages. Driver D Dolan advised the gelding had been striking the sulky wheels during the running.
SEMBA - raced four wide from the 500m.
Race 8   THANKS TO DAVEY & CATH TROT
MIKKO KOIVU - trotted roughly before breaking leaving the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
D J'S GAMBLE - broke leaving the final bend hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
NIGHT LIFE - broke after 150m losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Weakened final bend.
NEIL WILLIAM - over-raced middle stages.
HADLEYMAE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of connections.
ORIGIN - raced wide early.
CHOCOLATE ANGUS - forced to race wide from the 950m. Weakened final bend. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200m. Driver M Alfeld was issued a warning for half carting passing the 1400m. Mr Alfeld was also issued a warning for using his whip on a runner out of contention.
Race 9   PETER LAGAN STANDARDBREDS MOBILE PACE
LORTON VALE - held up by a weakening runner final bend and early in the run home.
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - weakened leaving the final bend hampering trailing runners.
LOGAN ROCK - lay inwards at various stages throughout.
LORD MUDRICK - driver C Butt was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MOTOR MOUTH - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer J Gray advised the gelding has been racing without luck in recent starts and had received an economical run with cover tonight.
WAVEWATCHER - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
