GREASED LIGHTNIN - Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld to enable Stewards to view the replays and question Driver M McKendry (KEVIN KLINE), Junior Driver H Orange(GREASED LIGHTNIN), assisted by S Phelan, regarding the breaking of KEVIN KLINE near the 1450m. Mr McKendry stated that he felt his gelding had contributed to the incident by failing to respond when being steadied to concede the position on the leader's back. Given the circumstances Stewards did not proceed with a protest with Mr McKendry also not electing to proceed with a protest. Notwithstanding this Mr Orange was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in the future. |

Authorisation of this runner's promoted 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of connections. | |
IM A ROCKSTAR - broke passing the 1900m losing all chance. | |
BONNY PARKER - slow early stages losing considerable ground and trailed the field. | |
HAPPY HILL - trotted roughly rounding the final turn then broke near the 300m losing its chance. A protest was lodged against this runner's 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging that the gelding had broken in excess of 150m. Connections did not contest the protest and HAPPY HILL was disqualified by Stewards. A warning was placed on HAPPY HILL's racing manners. |

KATAMA - Co-Trainers M & N Purdon were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the filly to race with blinds which had not been notified. Broke approaching the 2000m after contacting the sulky wheel of BIG HERB which was crossing to the lead, checking and hampering trailing runners before settling. An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing from Junior Driver B Wilkins (KATAMA), assisted by T Herlihy, Driver M McKendry(BIG HERB) and viewing the replays it was established that KATAMA had over-raced when being crossed by BIG HERB contacting that runner's sulky wheel despite the efforts of Ms Wilkins. Broke again near the 1200m hampering a trailing runner losing its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners. | |
BIG HERB - lay in and contacted a track marker near the 850m and then again when weakening near the 400m. Driver M McKendry reported that he sustained a punctured sulky tyre approaching the first turn. | |
NEW KID IN TOWN - lay in and raced over a track marker near the 250m. Continued to lay in over the early stages of the run home with Driver S Wigg being unable to activate the removable deafeners as a result. | |
TYTATE - commenced to over-race down the back straight the first time before being taking forward to lead near the 1300m. Continued to over-race from the 900m before contacting several track markers near the 750m. When questioned Driver M White advised that he had been placed at a disadvantage with the mare over-racing with Stewards taking the matter no further. | |
