BARBAROSSA - paced roughly first bend then over-raced for a distance when racing wide. Lay inwards rounding the final bend.
Race 2   BEKO MOBILE PACE
MANTRA - lay inwards rounding the final bend and raced inside and contacted track markers losing ground. Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained any advantage. Driver M McKendry advised that he did not activate the removable gear in consequence.

SAVARNA - hampered near the 100m. Driver R Fensom reported that he did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence.
BILLY THE KID - paced roughly and broke near the 100m hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.

CAPTAINS SECRET - raced four wide for a distance near the 700m. Lay inwards approaching the 150m when being shifted wider by MIKE ROSS contacting that runner's sulky wheel and paced roughly for several strides. After hearing from drivers P Ferguson (MIKE ROSS), J Dickie (CAPTAINS SECRET) and viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that no further action was required.

MAZEPPA - over-raced middle stages before commencing to choke down passing the 700m and was taken down onto the infield by Driver C Alford, for safety reasons to clear trailing runners, with the gelding then falling. MAZEPPA was immediately attended to by the on-course Veterinarian with the examination revealing a suspected displaced soft palate and abrasions to the nose area consistent with falling on the track. Mr Alford was uninjured in this incident. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance and required to trial on one occasion prior to resuming. Mr Alford reported the gelding had struck the wheel discs.
CON GRAZIA LOVE - Trainer S McCaffrey was warned for presenting the mare with the incorrect saddlecloth. Broke passing the 200m. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - raced wide early and middle stages before reaching the parked position passing the 1200m.

Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

QUEEN ELIDA - over-raced middle stages. Lay inwards at various stages. Held up until late in the run home and raced inside the last track marker. REPUBLICAN PARTY - pre-race warmed. Lay inwards and raced roughly having to be steadied near the 450m.
MERLIN - pre-race warmed. Raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Held up final bend and early stages of the run home. Raced in restricted room near the 150m when an inside runner shifted outwards marginally. Stewards questioned Driver Z Butcher regarding his decision near the 950m to shift to a position three back on the marker line. Mr Butcher explained that, given the tempo of the race and his position at that stage, he believed it was the most prudent option to save ground and position himself in advance of REPUBLICAN PARTY and closer to MO'UNGA, whom he considered to be the better chances in the race. Mr Butcher further stated that, had it not been for a marginal shift outwards by a runner to his inside near the 150m, he would have been afforded a clear run to the finish. After considering Mr Butcher's explanation and reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied that the decision made at the 950m was not unreasonable under the circumstances and accordingly determined that no further action was warranted.
RAKERO ROCKET - held up final bend. Lay outwards over the concluding stages despite the efforts of Driver G Smith.
