Race Comments

Race 1   CREATIVE CATERING HANDICAP TROT
BOYZ INVASION - contacted a track marker near the 200m when in restricted room.
KOKO KABOOM - pre-race warmed. Broke entering the first turn losing considerable ground. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Lay in early stages of the run home. Driver W House reported he did not activate the deafeners due to having the field covered.
MR MONTY - over-raced middle stages. Broke passing the 800m losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
TINKERBELLE - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
SWEET OLIVIA - trotted roughly and then broke near the 1200m losing considerable ground. Broke again passing the 250m losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
Race 2   HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY GREG OLSEN MOBILE PACE
BAILEYS PITCH - commenced to weaken near the 600m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed mild dehydration.
LORTON VALE - commenced to weaken near the 500m. When questioned Driver H Orange advised that the gelding had raced keenly during the middle stages so he elected to roll forward to the lead near the 950m and this had probably taken its toll. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality.
ROBYNS ART - lay out entering the first turn and broke losing considerable ground before trailing the field throughout. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 3   MASONIC HOTEL MOBILE PACE
CHEVAL NOIR - raced wide early before securing a position midfield in the running line. Placed in restricted room near the 300m having to be steadied briefly. Weakened in the run home.
INDISPOSED - lay in near the 300m placing an inside runner in restricted room. Driver M Hay was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the middle stages of the run home.
ENZO - commenced to improve wide from the 500m but was then forced four wide by an inside runner. Paced roughly rounding the final turn. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages Driver Z Butcher advised that he had initially commenced to follow DIXIELAND DELIGHT when that runner improved forward three wide near the 1150m but that his gelding had paced roughly so he elected to steady back down into the running line before then attempting to improve racing down the back the last time. Stewards noted Mr Butcher's comments.
Race 4   PETER & WENDY FERGUSON MOBILE PACE
LEO LINCOLN - checked having to be steadied first turn.
FREDASTAIRE - over-raced middle stages when leading.
STICKIFINGERS - Driver S Abernethy was issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly rounding the first turn when shifting down to trail the leader when not sufficiently clear which resulted in LEO LINCOLN having to be checked and concede that position. The matter was adjourned to be heard before the upcoming meeting on Sunday 6 April. Mr Abernethy reported he had not activated the sliding blinds or deafeners due to having the field covered.
FINAL CHANGE - commenced to weaken leaving the back straight the final time and locked sulky wheels with GOTTA ELECT BILL near the 250m.
LE MAJOR - raced four wide from the 500m.
LORD DELMAR - raced four wide from the 600m.
JOES ROCK - Junior Driver K Coppins was spoken to advisedly in relation to her decision to shift out on to the back of the weakening FINAL CHANGE near the 500m which resulted in her runner losing ground before shifting back down on to the marker line.
GOTTA ELECT BILL - raced wide without cover for a distance during the middle stages when unable to make any progress and was eased back to the rear. Checked when locking sulky wheels with the weakening FINAL CHANGE near the 250m and raced over track markers as a result. When questioned Driver W House confirmed that the gelding had not been suited by the tempo of the race when attempting to improve in the middle stages.
Race 5   GREEN/DELANY STABLES MOBILE PACE
BETA PREPARE - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
LEWEY MAGUIRE - over-raced middle stages.
HA'PENNY - shifted wider on straightening for the run home but was immediately corrected by Driver S Abernethy.
Race 6   BRODIE ELLIS FAMILY STABLES MOBILE PACE
THE ELITE ATHLETE - broke at the start checking a trailing runner and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Held up in the middle and latter stages of the run home.
BECKER - lost contact with the body of the field during the middle stages. Paced roughly rounding the final turn. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. A final warning was placed on the gelding's performance. Trainer D Bublitz advised he would be sending the gelding for a spell.
ONYX SHARD - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
BENSON DUDE - checked by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Race 7   RACING AGAIN SUNDAY APRIL 6TH MOBILE PACE
DREAM ON LOU - over-raced middle stages and in particular rounding the final turn.
MIDFREW LUCRE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
ADJOURNMENT - over-raced middle stages before breaking and shifting out approaching the 800m hampering an outside runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
MATAI LIZZIE - lay in rounding the final turn when Driver W House was activating the deafeners near the 300m and contacted several track markers. When questioned Mr House confirmed that the mare had locked on the outside rein and that he would be recommending a gear change prior to resuming.
RUN MASON RUN - held up early final turn.
