Race 1   betcha TROT
MEMORIES - hampered late in the run home.
WHATS UP THE HILL - lay in rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home before switching to a pace near the 70m hampering a trailing runner. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation in that the gelding was not in the correct gait for more than 50m inside the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and WHATS UP THE HILL was disqualified by Stewards. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
TERABYTE - broke near the 400m losing all chance.
JUMPING JAKE FLASH - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
FINAL APPROACH - raced wide early.
NOD ANDA WINK - slow early. Broke passing the 200m losing all chance.
TWO FRANCS - broke at the start losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming. Trotted roughly under pressure in the run home.
Race 2   BARRIER REVEAL FOR NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS 1ST APRIL MOBILE PACE
CLOUDING OVER - weakened in the run home.
MIKE ROSS - lay in when improving to the inside of DEMON BLUE near the 1750m and contacted track markers.
DEMON BLUE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver M Purdon stated that the gelding had been disappointing even though it was left without cover in the early stages.
NELSON'S BOY - lay in at various stages and in particular the run home.
Race 3   KAYLEE BELL FEATURES ON NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS MOBILE TROT
SANTAPAZIENZA - held up by a weakening runner final turn.
HELSINGOR - weakened rounding the final turn.
CONRAD H - Driver N Balle was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the middle stages of the run home.
HAYLEY MHOR - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Driver J Stormont was warned for the manner in which he restrained the mare whilst in the break.
SO MYSTIFYING - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
RUN FOREST RUN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
SASSY STAR - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
CAVIAR NOIRE - back from position throughout the score up. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Lay in approaching the 800m losing ground and trailed the field thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 4   HOSPICE WAIKATO MOBILE PACE
I CAN TOO - raced wide without cover from the 1200m.
ALWAYS B AN ANGEL - raced wide early before being restrained towards the rear. Broke near the 850m losing ground.
SWEET MIA - raced greenly early in the run home.
CHANEL NOIRE - veered inwards passing the 150m when leading but was immediately corrected by Driver Z Butcher.
TYTATE - raced wide early. Commenced to over-race near the 1300m when DEBRIEF improved to its outside. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
PRINCESS OF SAVOY - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
SECRET BID - raced four wide from the 600m.
SKYS LEGACY - raced wide with cover from the 1000m.
DREAMS OF ERIC - back from position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier manners.
DEBRIEF - weakened leaving the final turn.
Race 5   MVS WAIKATO COUNTRY CUP HANDICAP TROT
KAIPAKI JACK - locked sulky stays with AMERICAN MUSCLE passing 100m.
COURMAYEUR - required assistance from an attendant prior to the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
VORONOV - held up early final turn. Driver D Butcher was warned for contacting track markers prior to the entrance to the passing lane. Raced over further track markers passing the 100m after becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of KAIPAKI JACK which had locked sulky stays with AMERICAN MUSCLE. Stewards noted the circumstances and took the matter no further.
YA EEJIT YA - pre-race warmed.
HIGH ENERGY - held up final turn and until near the 50m.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1450m.
MATTY A - when questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama stated that he had been unable to get into the race from his 30m handicap but expected the gelding would derive benefit from the run.
AMERICAN MUSCLE - held up final turn. Checked when locking sulky stays with KAIPAKI JACK passing 100m.
Race 6   BETAVET BAY OF PLENTY COUNTRY CUP HANDICAP PACE
ALWAYS FLYIN - broke briefly at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1800m losing ground. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
BARBAROSSA - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
ROCK BAND - broke near the 1800m hampering a trailing runner and lost ground.
CLAUDE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
THE SURFER - the murphy blind shifted after becoming detached over the early stages.
ROUGH AND READY - raced four wide without cover from the 700m.
INVISIBLE - raced four wide with cover from the 700m.
Race 7   GARRARDS WAIKATO PACERS FLYING MILE MOB PACE
SOONER THE BETTOR - pre-race warmed.
LITTLE SPIKE - checked and broke near the 1400m losing all chance.
CHASE A DREAM - pre-race warmed. Driver M Purdon admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly by allowing his runner to shift inwards near the 1400m when not sufficiently clear causing interference to LITTLE SPIKE which broke losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Purdon's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 April up to and including 22 April 2025 (4 days).
OHOKA CONNOR - weakened in the run home.
MO'UNGA - held up late in the run home.
DUCHESS MEGXIT - when questioned regarding the performance Driver T Herlihy stated he was satisfied with the run given the class of the field and the tempo throughout in what was the mare's first race for three weeks.
MERLIN - pre-race warmed. Driver Z Butcher was questioned in relation to an incident near the 1100m where KANGO was able to shift away from the marker line. Mr Butcher stated that Driver D Butcher (KANGO) had been clear to commence the shift with MERLIN then improving to be outside that runner's wheel before he was able to steady the entire back down into the running line. Mr Butcher also advised that the off side shortener pin had released prematurely prior to him activating the remaining shortener pin near the 1000m.
Race 8   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS WAIKATO TROTTERS FLYING MILE MOB TROT
ONE MORE MOMENT - broke entering the first turn losing ground before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Broke again near the 1250m losing all chance. A warning was also placed on the mare's racing manners. Stewards lodged a protest against 5th placing being awarded to this runner under Rule 870(3) & Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 150m when in the second break. Connections did not contest the protest and ONE MORE MOMENT was disqualified by Stewards.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed.
