Race Comments

Race 1   TERRY BRISKIE MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
KING OF DIAMONDS - Driver P Ferguson advised he had not activated the deafeners due to having the field covered.
BEVRON - slow early losing ground. Lay in rounding the final turn and raced over several track markers with one being dislodged.
JACCKA BAYLIS - weakened final turn. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial lacerations to both hind legs that required treatment. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised the gelding had become unsettled when contacting its own sulky wheel discs so he felt his best option was to work forward in an attempt to gain the lead, however Driver J Abernethy (EAGLE HANOVER) had been intent on holding the front with JACCKA BAYLIS then racing without cover for the remainder.
SWEET OLIVIA - lost ground rounding the first turn. Lay outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.
QUERCUS RUBRA - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 1750m losing all chance.
Race 2   DOUG GALE STABLES MOBILE PACE
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - paced roughly entering the first turn when racing to the inside of D K LOUIE which in turn had BETTERTHANBABE improving to its outside. When questioned Driver W House advised that his gelding had lay out and contributed to the incident. Hampered briefly early in the run home.
MOENUI MISS - paced roughly when steadied entering the first turn losing ground.
BETTERTHANBABE - lay in entering the first turn crowding inside runners however notwithstanding this Driver H Orange was warned to ensure he makes a greater effort to give runners to his inside sufficient room. Shifted out marginally early in the run home briefly hampering an outside runner. Mr Orange was reminded of his obligations to take immediate corrective action given similar circumstances in the future.
MISS WOODVILLE - raced wide from the 700m.
TRES BONNE FILLE - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages and in particular when rounding the final turn.
Race 3   SCOTT DICKSON STABLES HANDICAP TROT
SCOOTS - Driver A Pyers admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Pyers' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 11 March 2025 (2 days).
HENRIK LUNDQVIST - lay in and contacted a track marker near the 2150m. Shifted down into the passing lane late in the run home. Driver J Abernethy was reminded of his obligations to leave full access in the passing lane to trailing runners. When questioned regarding the improved performance Mr Abernethy advised the gelding had benefitted from being able to set its own terms in front and the drop in grade of today's race.
TRIPPY TYRON - lay in and dislodged a track marker near the 2150m.
MODE - trotted roughly early losing ground. Broke near the 1800m after jumping a shadow losing ground. Broke again near the 1350m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
Race 4   THE GUPPY-STEWART MOBILE PACE
FREDASTAIRE - broke briefly early in the score up. Badly hampered by a weakening runner leaving the back straight the final time losing ground.

BLUE CHIP LOU - raced wide with cover from the 650m.
STEALERS WHEEL - lay in and contacted a track marker rounding the final turn.
EXECUTIVE BANNER - commenced to weaken near the 600m badly hampering a trailing runner. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality.
TASI AHNAU - raced wide from the 650m.
Race 5   HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEAN MCNEE MOBILE PACE
HA'PENNY - lay out racing through the straights and in particular throughout the run home despite the efforts of Driver P Ferguson.
