Race Comments

Race 1   MARION HICKEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed with the field being turned out of line after HENRIK LUNDQVIST became fractious. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
SCOOTS - raced clear in the lead over the early stages. Shifted out early in the run home when under pressure having to be corrected by its driver.
HENRIK LUNDQVIST - slow to begin. Weakened near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some slight nasal discharge. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
COSMIC ANGEL - broke near the 1850m losing ground.
KISS MY PIXEL - lay out racing down the back the final time however notwithstanding this driver G Martin was warned to race squarely on the back of the runner he is trailing.
ALL MUSCLED UP - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
Subsequent to this race Starter G Phillips advised Stewards he initially thought there was an issue with HENRIK LUNDQVIST as the start was effected and blew his whistle on one occasion before realising that this was not the case. Driver J Abernethy (HENRIK LUNDQVIST) confirmed he heard the whistle and was unsure if a false start had been declared however added his chances had not be affected given the gelding's poor performance.
Race 2   HUGHES JOINERY MOBILE PACE
FINAL CHANGE - paced roughly near the 100m and had to be steadied.
MOENUI MISS - Driver J Abernethy was questioned with regard to his decision to leave the one/one position near the 1150m and improve to race outside the leader. Mr Abernethy stated the mare had not handled the bends well on the first day and with driver J Dickie (FINAL CHANGE) sitting back off the leaders he felt it was his best option to improve round at this stage to race handy.
RAY SAUCE - weakened near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
Race 3   CONGRATULATIONS "DAN LYNCH" HANDICAP TROT
EAGLE HANOVER - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
KING OF DIAMONDS - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m. Driver L Hibell was issued with a warning for failing to check in following the race.
QUERCUS RUBRA - broke at the start losing all chance.
SWEET OLIVIA - broke passing the 400m and failed to settle hampering a trailing runner. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. Driver E Johnson was issued with a warning for failing to check in following the race.
Race 4   MEL'S 70TH BIG BASH TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
MISS WOODVILLE - over-raced middle stages. Lay outwards rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
ADJOURNMENT - raced greenly rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home before finishing the race off strongly.
TRES BONNE FILLE - out of position at the start. Driver H Orange was issued with a warning. Lay outwards rounding the final bend when over-racing. Held up throughout the run home. Mr Orange reported he did not activate the deafeners and sliding blinds in consequence.
Race 5   GOATS FINAL FURLONG MOBILE PACE
BETA PREPARE - over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly near the 100m.
Race 6   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
EXECUTIVE BANNER - lay out throughout the run home.
Race 7   CENTRAL ENERGY TRUST MOBILE PACE
STEALERS WHEEL - lay inwards passing the 1700m striking several track markers. Driver P Ferguson was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. Mr Ferguson's right foot dropped from the sulky footrest passing the 100m however was immediately returned.
WARLOCH - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver W House advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation.
BLUE CHIP LOU - weakened from the 400m.
LORD DELMAR - pulled hard score-up. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   RACING AGAIN 23RD FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE
JAHI - shifted outwards through the early and middle stages of the run home before being corrected by driver H Orange. Mr Orange (assisted by J Dickie) was shown footage of the run home and reminded of his obligation to take immediate corrective action in similar circumstances in the future.
ONETANGI GIRL - weakened rounding the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
UNCLE DREW - hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
DIDJASHOUTTHEBAR - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out rule near the 1500m when this runner raced wider on the track after JAHI (H Orange) shifted outwards from the marker line. It was established that Mr Orange had commenced his outwards movement prior to DIDJASHOUTTHEBAR reaching his sulky wheel with no further action required. When questioned regarding the performance driver W House advised the gelding had proven difficult to steer at various stages and then disappointed when failing to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
