Race 1   AUTO SHOPPE HAWERA HANDICAP TROT
BOSS JO - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again near the 1900m losing all chance.
IM SUPERFAST - swung inwards when the barriers were released and broke losing considerable ground.
ANASTASIA ASHLEY - weakened final bend. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
TWO FRANCS - broke at the start and shifted inwards checking FIGHT FOR FREEDOM which fell to the track. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Driver L Neal was unharmed in this incident.
KC'S PRINCESS - broke at the start losing ground. Stood down to trial from a standing start on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
ALDEBARAN WHAT - forced wider on the track near the 1850m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections after displaying signs of colic which required treatment. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days regarding the gelding's recovery.
REWIRI HILL - shifted ground outwards near the 1800m forcing ITBETTERBENOW wider on the track. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing the replays it was established that Driver Z Meredith had commenced his shift prior to ITBETTERBENOW reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
WISH FOR FISH - broke racing over the crossing losing ground.
FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - checked by a breaking runner and fell to the track shortly after the start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a laceration to the off fore which was treated. Driver R Downey was unharmed in this incident.
ITBETTERBENOW - over-raced early stages placing Driver P Ferguson in some difficulty then shifted ground outwards near the 1850m briefly forcing an outside runner wider on the track. Stewards questioned Mr Ferguson regarding his shift outwards at this stage and took the matter no further given the horse's racing manners. Broke passing the 200m. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
KING OF DIAMONDS - broke at the start losing ground. A final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
Race 2   BERT SANDFORD MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
HAWTHORNDEN BEACH - broke in the score up and was back from position at the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Broke again near the 1100m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
TINA ACE - lay outwards rounding the final bend despite the efforts of its driver. Continued to shift outwards in the home straight. Notwithstanding this Junior Driver H Orange was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the home straight in future.
RUTHERFORD - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
RAY SAUCE - broke after 200m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
MOONLITE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
Race 3   REARDON TRANSPORT/KIWI COURT MOTEL TROT
JACCKA BAYLIS - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home. Stewards questioned Junior Driver W House, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, in relation to his tactics adopted leaving the 600m when electing to remain on the back of COSMIC ANGEL prior to being covered by the improving PRESIDENT FLYNNTIN. Mr House advised at that stage he was some distance from the finish on a grass track and in his opinion the leader was still traveling comfortably and that it wasn't until near the 400m COSMIC ANGEL had commenced to weaken however he had already been covered at that stage. After considering his explanation and viewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
ROCK ON JAZZ - lay inwards and contacted the final track marker prior to the passing lane.
KISS MY PIXEL - connections advised that the mare would be racing in season. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
PRESIDENT FLYNNTIN - raced wide early.
ALL MUSCLED UP - was slow over the early stages when trotting roughly losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance.
Race 4   TURFWORKZ MOBILE PACE
MISS WOODVILLE - Driver A Pyers was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for dropping his foot out of the sulky footrest rounding the final bend for some distance.
IDEAL CRUNCH - Driver J Dickie admitted a charge under Rule 869(7A)(a) for contacting the final track marker prior to the passing lane. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $150. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dickie advised the filly had over-raced which had taken its toll.
INNOCENT MAN - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
PUSHTHESKYAWAY - raced ungenerously in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Lay out near the 300m briefly locking wheels with an outside runner and hampering a trailing runner. Again lay outwards over the concluding stages despite the efforts of Driver R Close. When questioned Mr Close advised that he would be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding resuming.
GOLDEN LINE - locked wheels briefly with an inside runner passing the 300m.
JETASI - connections advised that the filly would be racing without front shoes. Hampered near the 300m. Junior Driver C Hackett, assisted by T Mitchell, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner over the concluding stages. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended her driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 7 February up to and including 14 February 2025 (3 days).
Race 5   TOMMOS TYRES MOBILE PACE
DIDJASHOUTTHEBAR - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 1200m. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised that the gelding had to work hard early which took its toll.
SHIRLEY BASSEY - raced wide early.
RAKERO SCOTTY - out of position at the start. Driver S Abernethy was issued with a warning.
PASS CODE - had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
Race 6   REVITAL FERTILISERS TARANAKI CUP MOBILE PACE
BECKER - commenced to weaken near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance.
LEWEY MAGUIRE - briefly locked stays with KOURTNEY KARDASH shortly after the start.
CRISTIANO BUCCINI - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
SUPER FUND - over-raced early stages. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m.
TASI AHNAU - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Raced wide early. Weakened near the 500m hampering a trailing runner.
THEO - weakened near the 800m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance.
CAPTAIN ZENZI - raced greenly near the 1700m.
STEALERS WHEEL - hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m.
KOURTNEY KARDASH - over-raced shortly after the start briefly locking stays with LEWEY MAGUIRE having to be restrained. Over-raced early stages.
THE NEXT BEST THING - raced wide early stages. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 7   DTS HAWERA CUP HANDICAP PACE
A false start was declared at the first attempt due to the front barrier strand failing to clear all runners.
RED RACKHAM - begun awkwardly hampering a trailing runner. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
GOTTA ELECT BILL - held up near the 150m.
LOUEZYANA - broke at the start losing ground. Driver D Butcher reported that the offside hopple shortener cord became entangled in the loop after having activated correctly.
BARBAROSSA - broke at the start losing ground.
SEASIDE ROSE - held up early in the run home.
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - begun awkwardly.
VILLAGE REBEL - hampered at the start. Forced to race wide from the 900m.
MHAI SURFER GIRL - pre-race warmed. Broke at the start losing considerable ground.
SKIPPER - raced wide early.
ROUGH AND READY - over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   HYGAIN REVELL DOUGLAS MEMORIAL SERIES HEAT 3 MOB PACE
JAHI - crowded prior to racing into the first bend when outside runners had shifted inwards. Raced over track markers and broke entering the first bend losing ground checking and hampering trailing runners. Stewards questioned drivers C Hackett (JAHI), assisted by T Mitchell, F Schumacher (MAJOR BREAK) and H Orange (THE BEACH HOUSE) regarding firstly the crowding prior to racing into the first bend and secondly the breaking entering the first bend. After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one driver and took the matter no further.
CHEER ME ON - checked and broke making contact with an outside runner entering the first bend losing ground. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
THE BEACH HOUSE - crowded by an outside runner shortly after the start. Contacted by an inside runner first bend.
LORD DELMAR - lay inwards entering the first bend and broke losing ground before settling. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
MAJOR BREAK - lay inwards shortly after the start crowding an inside runner despite the efforts of Driver F Schumacher. Again lay inwards entering the first bend having to be straightened. Weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
AKATEA - hampered first bend.
KATIES PRINCESS - hampered first bend. Weakened final bend.
FUSION REACTOR - checked and broke first bend losing ground.
ASK ME LAZARUS - hampered first bend losing ground.
Race 9   EGMONT PLUMBING HAWERA TROTTING CUP HANDICAP TROT
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - broke near the 600m losing all chance.
BROTHER LOVE - underwent a veterinary examination prior to the race and was passed fit to start. Broke near the 400m hampering trailing runners losing all chance.
SANS AU REVOIR - underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality. When questioned Driver H Orange stated that in his opinion the mare had not backed up from its run on the first day.
BEVRON - broke near the 800m losing all chance.
QUERCUS RUBRA - raced wide early. Hampered by a breaking runner near 400m and shifted inwards placing an inside runner over track markers. Driver M Hay will be spoken to in the coming days.
BOSS KENNY - shifted outwards near the 1100m forcing an outside runner wider on the track. Hampered near the 400m and raced over a number of track markers. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until firstly Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had raced over track markers due to interference and secondly that this runner had not gained an advantage. Junior Driver Z Meredith, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule in relation to the incident near the 1100m and was issued a fine of $200.
CASTANA - momentarily placed in restricted room near the 150m.
HIGH ENERGY - forced to race wider on the track near the 1100m when BOSS KENNY shifted outwards.
AMERICAN MUSCLE - shifted inwards near the 150m placing an inside runner in restricted room momentarily. Driver T Cameron was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the home straight in future.
Race 10   ROUGH HABITS RESTAURANT & BAR MOBILE PACE
MAJOR MAJOR - hung outwards shortly after the start hampering an outside runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SWEET SPIRIT - crowded when runners either side shifted ground after the start and broke losing ground. Broke near the 1600m when there was an easing of the pace in the marker line. Broke again passing the 400m losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed bruising to the off hind leg. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with connections in the coming days.
RUN MASON RUN - lay inwards shortly after the start checking an inside runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
SAVARNA - Driver R Fensom was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home.
PROVISEUR - raced wide early. Hampered by a breaking runner final bend.
UNCLE DREW - raced wide early.
OHOKA ACHILLES - held up early stages of the run home.
STATE TROOPER - lay inwards throughout the run home.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - over-raced middle stages.
FAREWELL SPIT - over-raced near the 1600m and had to be steadied when there was an easing of the pace. Hampered by a breaking runner final bend.
SAYS WHO - broke rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners. Driver P Ferguson advised the gelding had struck a knee causing the horse to break. A warning was placed on this runner's racing manners.
