Trainer R Todd advised Stewards on 24 January BETTERTHANCASH had recovered well from its disappointing run last start and would be carrying on with the current preparation.
Race 12 - THANKS TO THE VOLUNTEERS TROT
Junior driver C Dalgety (BULLIT TRAIN) assisted by B Orange, defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards near the 250m when insufficiently clear of RACEY KRUSA resulting in his sulky tyre being contacted and punctured by that runner. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $250.

Race 1   NZB STANDARDBRED 2025 NATIONAL YEARLING SALE MOB TROT
The start was delayed after the horses had commenced coming out of the pre-race formation when there was a gear issue with ONE EL resulting in the horses which had scored up being positioned close to the gate when having to wait for ONE EL. A false start was then declared after ASPIRATIONAL DREAM broke late in the score up and shifted outwards inconveniencing an outside runner. Driver J Morrison elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
ASPIRATIONAL DREAM - hampered by a breaking runner near the 350m.
ONE EL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 350m.
THE ROYAL GAMBLE - trotted roughly passing the 900m. Again trotted roughly rounding the final bend losing ground hampering trailing runners and broke near the 350m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.

DAVE DULEY - raced greenly when attempting to lead near the 1000m.

HOLLY HIGHLANDER - connections advised the mare would be racing in season.
KNOWING ME - broke at the start losing ground. Lay inwards and weakened on the final bend.

A false start was declared when THE HIGHWAYMAN broke in the score up hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver T Williams elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
THE HIGHWAYMAN - broke early in the score up of the restart losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a mobile start prior to resuming.
ROCKINGOOD - trainer B Hill was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds. Hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend.
JENA - over-raced middle stages Crowded by an inside runner which lay outwards rounding the final bend.
THE MANDALORIAN - hampered rounding the final bend.
SHE'S A MAJOR ACT - lay outwards on several occasions throughout the running. Lay out under pressure rounding the final bend crowding an outside runner and hampering a trailing runner.

NICKEL AND DIME - broke rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.

A false start was declared when the overcheck on SEARING LIGHT slipped in the score up.
CHANGEFORTHEBETA - lay outwards over the early stages having to be steadied hampering a trailing runner which contacted the gelding's sulky wheel. Driver R Harrison reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre in this incident.
SHARD DE ARCH - raced wide early.
JAY R TOLKIEN - over-raced passing the 1600m and again passing the 1200m after a slight easing of the pace having to be steadied.
LIGHT ME UP - hampered by CHANGEFORTHEBETA in the early stages and contacted that runner's sulky wheel.
SWEET TARTAN - had to be steadied near the 1600m when there was a easing of the pace and again steadied near the 1200m.
HUGO - raced greenly when easing to take a trail near the 1200m resulting in a easing of the pace.
