SHE'S A MAJOR ACT - hampered by a weakening runner near the 300m. Held up throughout the run home. Stewards questioned Junior driver S Hill (assisted by R May) regarding his decision to shift outwards instead of waiting to utilise the passing lane near the 250m. Mr Hill explained that he elected to shift outwards early in the run home as a result of KAIRAKI VEGAS which he had been trailing commencing to race greenly and weaken. Mr Hill added that he felt his best option was to shift outwards to follow JENA which was travelling well instead of waiting for the passing lane and being held up. After considering his explanation and viewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further. | |
DISNEY DENARIO - briefly crowded an inside runner after 250m. Junior driver D Dolan was spoken to advisedly. Struck the sulky wheel of TWO JULES racing into the first bend which punctured. Mrs Dolan admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when allowing her runner to strike the wheel of TWO JULES. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. Lay inwards and raced inside a track marker at the 300m. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the filly had not gained any advantage when racing inside a track marker. | |
GOOD TIME BETTY - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room after 250m when a runner to the outside shifted inwards. | |

SMOOTH SCOOB - Raced without the removable deafeners after warming up unfavourably. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination after having blood present in the mouth area which revealed a small abrasion to the tongue. Driver R Anderson admitted a breach of Rule 868(3) in that he failed to drive the mare out to the end of the race when having a reasonable chance of finishing 4th. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Anderson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 26 January 2025 (3 days). | |
