FLOOZY SUZY - paced roughly in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
MISTY BLUE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
ADELPHI STORM - weakened final bend.
MAJOR MONEYMAKER - slow in the early stages losing ground. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Cameron advised he had difficulty making up ground after being slow to begin and the fast tempo throughout.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Easy.
Race 2   NELSON BAYS SUPER LIQUOR HANDICAP TROT
VOLSTONE - fractious prior to the start and was sent to the unruly position at the request of driver J Dunn where the gelding will remain for future standing starts. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
CALL DUDLEY - lay outwards throughout the run home.
LOVER BOY - over-raced middle stages. Weakened final bend.
BILLY KIMBER - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Co-trainer A Tomlinson advised she would be adding half hopples to the gelding's gear for future starts.
PLAYOFFS - broke at the start losing all chance.
REINDEER TROUBLE - weakened passing the 600m.
Race 3   BROWN & ASSOCIATES / ANCHOR RESTAURANT & BAR MOBILE PACE
SHANNON B - paced roughly leaving the final bend. Again paced roughly in the run home causing driver W House difficulty and as a consequence was unable to be fully driven out.
CAPTAIN COOL - trainer K Newman was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without a number. Paced roughly late in the score up. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 850m. Junior driver K Newman (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Newman's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 24 January up to and including 6 February 2025 (4 days).
LASA - paced roughly after 200m. Broke passing the 850m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MANDALA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 850m.
ART'S MISCHIEF - weakened near the 400m.
AMERICAN BLAZE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 850m.
PUSHTHESKYAWAY - held up early in the run home and lay outwards over the final 150m.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Good.
Race 4   DAVID & JAN BIRDLING SPORTS TRUST PACE
SEASIDE POND - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SANTANNA MACH - broke at the start losing ground.
MOONLITE BLOOD - broke at the start losing ground.
SHEPHERDS DELIGHT - when questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the gelding was racing down in grade from recent starts and has had a fetlock treated as notified. They added the gelding is a fast beginner and was suited to the standing start and the distance of today's race.
Race 5   TAYLORS CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
KAWACTUS - held up early in the run home.
HI HOPES - driver S Hill advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MILLWOOD GODDESS - raced wide early.
HOPE FOR LOVE - held up early in the run home.
SOCIAL DISTANCING - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   DEXTER DUNN TROT
NELLIE DOYLE - driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
HERE COMES JANE - broke near the 1200m losing ground. Again broke passing the 500m losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
BULLIT TRAIN - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. Held up rounding the final bend. Trotted roughly throughout the run home. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
OUR PEGASUS PEARL - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking several track markers.
POPNROCK - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking a track marker.
NIGHT LIFE - raced three wide from the 900m. Weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Butt advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ALDEBARAN CRYSTAL - weakened final bend.
THE RIVER BOY - weakened final bend.
RANDEL HUSTON P - raced wide early and middle stages. Broke near the 1100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 7   NBS MOBILE PACE
AMALFI - lay inwards on occasions throughout.
STANLEY'S RULE - weakened final bend.
CAUGHT THE EYE - raced wide early and middle stages.
ALWAYS B YOU - raced wide early.
Race 8   NELSON PINE INDUSTRIES NELSON CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
BOUDICA - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
SIDESHOW BRUCE - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
SKY ROCKET - checked and broke racing into the first bend hampering trailing runners losing ground. Weakened final bend.
XLENDI - driver B Butt defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly by shifting ground inwards racing into the first bend when insufficiently clear of SKY ROCKET (R Close) which was checked and broke hampering trailing runners. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Butt the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr Butt's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 26 January 2025 (5 days).
BUILT FOR GLORY - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
Race 9   MIKE AUSTIN MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
THE PRESENT MAKER - pre-race warmed. Broke after 150m losing ground.
WHAT THE BELL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
SPECIAL EFFECTS - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
JUDY J - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
BROTHER LOVE - over-raced middle stages. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had viewed the replays and were satisfied the horse had not breached the barrier strand and started in advance of its mark.
HELLOVEAMOMENT - connections advised the gelding would be racing without front shoes. Began awkwardly and broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
EL CONQUEROR - crowded at the start by an inside runner. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
READY SET JET - broke passing the 800m hampering trailing runners losing all chance.
Race 10   MAJESTIC HORSE TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
THE MANTIS - lay inwards striking track markers when weakening rounding the final bend.
SARASOTA SUNSET - driver T Walsh admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Walsh's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 19 January 2025 (2 days).
RADHA - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SOPHIA BROMAC - briefly hampered late in the score up. Held up rounding the final bend.
