DON AMECHE - broke approaching the 1800m losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
PEGGY GEE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
TICKTOCK MCGLAUGHLIN - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Again broke racing into the first bend losing all chance. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the gelding.
THE MERC - tangled away. Broke over the concluding stages.
FATHER MIKE - broke at the start losing ground. Again broke entering the first bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
JAY BEE HILL - cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
TILLABERI - broke leaving the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

DANISH FRANCO - late scratching on veterinary advice at 8.00am.
SWEET SUE - connections advised 5 January the mare has had its joints treated since last racing.
MATAI LIZZIE - paced roughly in the middle stages of the run home.
MIKI'S BEAUTY - held up final bend.
Race 3   BH20 PLUMBING / CROMWELL HARNESS RACING CLUB MOBILE PACE
LA BAMBA - broke in the early stages of the score up hampering a trailing runner and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Driver R Austin admitted a charge in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Austin's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 26 January up to and including 23 February 2025 (5 days). Mr Austin was reminded of his obligations to ensure he reports to Stewards anything which may have affected the chances of his horse.
ROCKOUTRAY - broke as the start was effected and shifted in hampering HAROLD HANOVER losing ground. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
CAPTAIN AMORE - paced roughly near the 75m having to be steadied.
CAPTAIN DASH - paced roughly entering the first bend.
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - hampered early in the score up and was slightly out of position at the start. Slow over the early stages.
HAROLD HANOVER - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Held up early stages of the run home and paced roughly over the concluding stages.
REIVER - broke briefly hampering a trailing runner first bend. A warning was placed on the racing record of the entire.
Race 4   CROMWELL MOTEL / WOODLANDS MOTORS TROT
JACCKA BAYLIS - broke after 100m losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - weakened final bend.
SUPERFAST GORSEY - held up early stages of the run home.
AH DINNAE KEN - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
HOT SAUCY BETTY - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Stood down to complete one standing start trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
HENNESSY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Weakened final bend.
Race 5   GOODMAN PLUMBING LTD / CLELAND RACING SYND MOBILE PACE
SARGENT BEST - held up middle stages of the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised the gelding had appreciated the drop back in class of today's race and also derived benefit from its previous run after being freshened prior.
SOUTHERN STARR - connections advised the mare has been treated for a virus since last racing.
SUMMIT ULTRA - broke after 150m losing considerable ground. Weakened in the run home.
POUNAMU - raced wide early.
FORTY WIVES - over-raced early stages when being restrained.
LORTON VALE - raced wide early.

ASK ME LAZARUS - paced roughly as the start was effected hampering a trailing runner.
SWEET TARTAN - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
DARE DEVIL - hampered at the start.
HALEY JACCKA - broke near the 300m losing ground.

PETITE TRIXTON - trotted roughly through the early stages.
DIGNIFY - raced three wide without cover from the 1000m.

MAJESDIX - broke at the start losing all chance.
SON OF THE CLEANER - raced wide early. Trotted roughly and hung outwards throughout the run home.
SWITCH ON - held up early stages of the run home. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
OUR PINOCCHIO - raced wide early.
Race 8   NIGHT 'N DAY CROMWELL BUSINESSES CUP (MOBILE PACE)
HAZER - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages.
DECEPTIVE LEE - driver C Dalgety reported he received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
MUNROE'S MATE - broke leaving the pre-race formation and was back a considerable distance at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
TEMPO WARRIOR - over-raced early stages when being restrained to take cover. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
MUCHACHO - over-raced and lay outwards near the 1100m and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of DECEPTIVE LEE when being steadied. Lay outwards rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home and was unable to utilise a run to the inside having to be steadied and shifted outwards. Stewards will speak with connections in the coming days regarding the performance of the gelding.
STILL ROCKIN - broke passing the 300m losing all chance.
Race 9   SANGSTER ELECTRICAL / REGAN TODD RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE
LOU'S DEAL - broke late in the score up hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DRAGON POWER - held up over the concluding stages.
FITZTHEBILL - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer A Faulks advised the gelding had derived benefit from its first up run at Omakau and appreciated racing on the grass track surface today.
FAREWELL SPIT - held up over the concluding stages,
THE ORANGE ROUGHY - required the assistance of Starting personnel prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner as the start was effected.
Race 10   SHANNON FARM CROMWELL CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
DENY EVERYTHING - held up early stages of the run home.
ALWAYS B THERE - broke after 100m losing ground. Again broke near the 1550m losing ground. Weakened final bend and broke on a further occasion near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
BOBBIES ROCK - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide from the 1000m.
TABASCO - broke at the start losing ground.
STEP IT UP A NOTCH - broke at the start losing ground.
COMMANDER BEN - re- handicapped to barrier 1 on 10m after winning at Roxburgh.
HACKSAW RIDGE - weakened final bend.
MIGHTY LOOEE - co-trainers R and J Dunn were warned for presenting the gelding with the incorrect colours. Raced four wide leaving the 1000m.
Race 11   SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE PALMERSTON NORTH HANDICAP TROT
TORQUAY STREET - required the assistance of Starting personnel prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
PRACTICAL MAGIC - broke over the concluding stages.
MAJESTIC LOVE - reared as the start was effected losing ground. Placed in restricted room near the 300m.
MISSILE - trotted roughly final bend.
ONE TWO MENNY - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the home straight. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation at the start.
ANDY HALL - lay inwards near the 300m placing MAJESTIC LOVE in restricted room having to be straightened.
STYRAX - began awkwardly. Broke racing into the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
JIMMY CARTER -broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MOMENT OF WHAT- broke entering the home straight hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 12   ONPOINT NZ MOBILE PACE
MONKEE MAJOR - over-raced middle stages.
RIGHTAZZ - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Had to be steadied near the 1350m when there was a slight easing of the pace.
Top
