TESSAMAE - trotted roughly rounding the final bend and broke briefly near the 500m and shifted ground outwards hampering an outside runner. Continued to trot roughly throughout the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and had lost ground when in a break. Stewards questioned driver B Borcoskie in relation to his drive near the 500m when leading he shifted his horse which was in a break wider on the track. Mr Borcoskie advised that he believed the mare would not regain its gait and so immediately attempted to take his horse clear of the field as required with the horse then regaining its gait. After hearing from Mr Borcoskie and viewing the films, Stewards were satisfied his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. | |
