Race 1   BAYLEYS REAL ESTATE MOBILE PACE
BETTER BE WATCHING - over-raced in the parked position through the middle stages.
BOMBAY GLACIER - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Broke over the concluding stages with the near side hopple carrier coming adrift as a consequence.
SUPERFAST - when asked to comment on the improved performance trainer B Norman advised that the mare has been racing without luck in recent starts and was aided by a positive drive today.
JENNY GUMP - when asked to comment on the performance driver S Walkinshaw advised that the mare had come to the end of its run on the final bend and he was disappointed with the effort.
TASHS BAD GIRL - lay out in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 2   SOUTHBUILD ITM TROT
MAJESTIC ME - driver B Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
THE MERC - connections advised the gelding would race without back shoes. Trotted roughly early in the run home.
STORM CLOUD - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Lay in final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
DON AMECHE - broke when leading passing the 1400m dislodging a track marker and causing driver K Larsen some difficulty. Broke again near the 1100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
IRISH SUN - broke at the start losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
TILLABERI - broke after 150m losing all chance.
JAY BEE HILL - slow in the early stages.
Race 3   BRETT MIDDLETON CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
DRAGONESS - lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - broke in the score up and failed to settle losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CALIFORNIA DREAMING - the removable deafener hood came adrift near the 1350m. Trainer R Austin was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix gear so as not to come adrift. When asked to comment on the improved performance driver R Austin advised that the gelding had raced without luck when held up in its most recent start, adding that he was not surprised by the forward showing today.
HAROLD HANOVER - paced roughly near the 800m hampering a trailing runner. Weakened final bend. Driver N Williamson reported the gelding had paced roughly throughout.
DONALD TROT - briefly hampered near the 800m.
HE'S ROBYN - checked by a breaking runner near the 1100m and broke in consequence losing all chance with the near side number coming adrift.
MCDOLMIO - trainer M Brinsdon was warned for being late to notify the gelding would race with blinds. Broke near the 1100m checking a trailing runner losing ground. Broke again near the 700m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   SBSR SIRES STAKES 3YO FILLIES SOUTHERN SOLSTICE MOBILE PACE
DANISH FRANCO - paced roughly in the early stages. Again paced roughly rounding the final bend when under pressure. Weakened over the concluding stages.
MOLLY BELWIN - lay in over the concluding stages.
Race 5   ALL LAY CARPETS & DRAPES HANDICAP TROT
VELOCITY JET - fractious prior to the start. Broke rounding the final bend losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
HOT SAUCY BETTY - trainer K Green was warned for being late to notify the mare would race with blinds and fixed deafeners. Broke at the start losing all chance with the crupper moving as a result and the mare being retired from the race.
KYLE LOCH - fractious prior to the start.
EMILY - driver M Hurrell reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
AROHA - slow to begin.
TORQUAY STREET - fractious prior to the start.
SON OF THE CLEANER - weakened final bend. Broke passing the 200m.
BURNING LOVE - raced wide early. Driver S Walkinshaw reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
Race 6   MAPLE & MARBLE SPECKLE PARK PRIME BEEF MOBILE PACE
MONTAGE - held up in the run home.
PARADISE VALLEY - permission was granted for the mare to race with alternate colours. Held up throughout the run home.
MATAI HARRY - lay inwards and briefly locked sulky wheels with ROBYNS HUSTLER early in the run home.
RAKADEAKS - over-raced rounding the final bend. Driver R Stevens reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - briefly locked sulky wheels with MATAI HARRY early in the run home.
DRAGON POWER - raced wide early.
HAVARTI ARDEN - raced wide early.
AIRWAVES - held up over the concluding stages.
THE ORANGE ROUGHY - held up in the run home.
PACIFIC ARC - connections advised the gelding has been treated for an infection since last racing.
HOGIE - broke shortly after the start and was immediately retired from the event by driver B Barclay and attended to by the oncourse veterinarian with the gelding being removed from the track in the Horse Ambulance. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed swelling to the left fore fetlock and pastern with the gelding being transported to an equine hospital for x-rays and further assessment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7   HARRY SMITH SHEEP SCANNING HANDICAP TROT
SWITCH ON - broke at the start losing ground.
STYRAX - driver B Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MISSILE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully driven out by driver M Williamson.
SHEZA GIFT - weakened in the run home.
FLYING WITHOUT WINGS - held up final bend.
Race 8   BAYLEYS REAL ESTATE MOBILE PACE
ALWAYS BE BOOTIE - broke briefly rounding the first bend. Weakened over the concluding stages.
CAPTAIN AMORE - paced roughly shortly after the start.
SPICEY CRUNCH - driver C Dalgety reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SENT - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 9   DILLIGAF CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
FIRST LIGHT - retired from the race with a punctured sulky tyre near the 1900m.
ON THE WING - hampered near the 300m.
TED - over-raced middle stages. Hampered near the 300m.
JUDAQUE - raced wide early. Over-raced rounding the final bend. Paced roughly then broke briefly shifting an outside runner wider on the track near the 300m and hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Shifted down the track under pressure in the run home despite the efforts of driver S Ottley.
BEACH DAY - forced wider on the track near the 300m. Following the race Stewards spoke with driver M Hurrell who advised he did not wish to proceed with a protest against 1st placing being awarded to JUDAQUE.
MUCHACHO - raced fiercely in the early stages causing driver B Williamson some difficulty and made contact with the sulky wheel of FIRST LIGHT near the 1900m with the tyre puncturing as a result. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 10   NEXT WINTON HRC MEETING THURSDAY 27TH FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE
NEK DELIGHT - briefly locked sulky wheels with MACANDREW MARKUP near the 100m.
HALEY JACCKA - weakened over the concluding stages.
MACANDREW MARKUP - briefly locked sulky wheels with NEK DELIGHT near the 100m when slightly shifting down the track. Following the race junior driver H Douglas, assisted by J Douglas, viewed replays of the home straight before electing not to proceed with a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to NEK DELIGHT.
ALWAYS B ELVIS - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
DURRANT - connections advised the gelding has had its joints treated since last racing.
FOREVER ARDEN - over-raced middle stages.
