Race 1   MANAWATU ITM HANDICAP TROT
HEARTBREAK HOTEL - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke passing the 300m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the gelding.
KISS MY PIXEL - held up final bend. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 300m. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100m when KISS MY PIXEL shifted ground outwards with ALL MUSCLED UP briefly racing wider on the track. After viewing the replays it was established that driver G Martin (KISS MY PIXEL) had shifted outwards prior to ALL MUSCLED UP reaching his sulky wheel. Accordingly no further action was deemed necessary.
ALL MUSCLED UP - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay inwards rounding the first bend striking track markers. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
KING OF DIAMONDS - broke passing the 300m when being shifted wider by an inside runner which had been hampered losing all chance.
Following this race the track was downgraded to Slushy.
Race 2   THE TANK GUY HANDICAP TROT
COSMIC ANGEL - fractious prior to the start.
BEVRON - lay inwards rounding the final bend and early in the run home.
ROYAL ACTION - trotted roughly over the concluding stages. Driver E Johnson was issued a warning for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. Miss Johnson was also spoken to advisedly to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
RUN FOREST RUN - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again in the middle stages when trailing the field and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
QUERCUS RUBRA - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver M Hay advised that he had been able to relax the mare in the preliminary as opposed to recent starts where she had become worked up and he had been able to dictate terms when leading tonight.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Abernethy advised that in his opinion the gelding had failed to back up after racing on the first day.
Race 3   BUY WHOLESALE VEHICLES MOBILE PACE
MISS WOODVILLE - shifted out on straightening for the run home checking TRES BONNE FILLE however was immediately corrected by driver P Ferguson. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until driver B Orange (TRES BONNE FILLE placed 4th) confirmed that his chances had not been affected. Mr Ferguson advised the filly had hung throughout causing him difficulty. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
HARING HABAGAT - weakened final bend.
MAGIE DO - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Out of position at the start. Driver A Pyers was issued a warning. Raced wide without cover from the 850m. Weakened final bend.
TRES BONNE FILLE - checked early in the run home when an inside runner shifted ground outwards.
GIFTED BRIGADE - out of position at the start. Driver L Neal was issued a warning. Paced roughly passing the 1000m. Lost ground passing the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance Mrs Neal advised that in her opinion the filly had failed to handle the track conditions however she was still disappointed with the effort and it was her intention to send the filly for a spell.
BET ON POLLY - out of position at the start. Driver J Abernethy was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful Mr Abernethy had been warned recently in relation to this rule.
D K LOUIE - driver S Doody admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend and early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Doody's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 21 January 2025 (4 days).
PLAY THE ACE - trainer R Dickson was issued a warning for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky. Broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early in the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
Race 4   CAFE JACKO PALMERSTONIAN MOBILE PACE
LORD DELMAR - lay outwards throughout when leading.
WARLOCH - weakened leaving the final bend.
BETA PREPARE - over-raced early and middle stages.
BAD MEDICINE - driver P Ferguson was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home.
DOO YOU WANT ME - raced four wide with cover from the 600m. Driver A Poutama was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
GOTTA ELECT BILL - raced four wide without cover from the 600m.
Race 5   KEVIN & SHIRLEY FARRIER & ANN MCBETH MOBILE PACE
VICTOR BRAVO - trainer S Dickson was issued a warning for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky. Raced wide early. Lay outwards throughout the run home.
BREENY'S ROCK N ROLL - late scratching at 4.50pm on veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
HA'PENNY - paced roughly and raced greenly racing into the first bend losing ground. Lay outwards throughout the run home.
ENYA FRANCO - over-raced passing the 1300m when being restrained to shift away from the marker line.
Race 6   ORAKINETICS MOBILE PACE
OCEANIC ART - connections advised the mare would be racing in season.
SHONNY LOU - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
MAJOR MAJOR - lay outwards through the middle stages. Held up final bend.
SWEET SPIRIT - raced wide early. Held up final bend.
Race 7   OUTBACK TRADING MOBILE PACE
STEALERS WHEEL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
JAHI - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
CALL SECURITY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
NEYMAR - broke near the 400m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BAILEYS PITCH - over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
