CHEMICAL DREAMS - over-raced middle stages. Lay out throughout the run home. Driver L Neal reported that she dropped her whip rounding the first turn.
ALL MUSCLED UP - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 2   COME & ENJOY 2 DAYS OF GRASS TRACK RACING @ HAWERA MOB PACE
PLAY THE ACE - held up by a weakening runner leaving the final turn and early in the run home.
BET ON POLLY - Driver J Abernethy advised he had difficulty activating the deafeners in the run home.
MAGIE DO - weakened early in the run home hampering a trailing runner.
LOOKATME CHRISTY - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Broke passing the 1500m and again passing the 1000m losing all chance. A warning was also placed on this runner's racing manners.
Race 3   SUMMER GRASS TRACK RACING @ HAWERA MOBILE PACE
JETASI - fell to the track near the 1500m dislodging Driver A Poutama from the sulky. Due to the horse laying prone on the track the race was stopped and subsequently declared a no race due to the field having travelled in excess of 1000m. Underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed the filly to have superficial abrasions which were treated by the Veterinarian. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. Mr Poutama was examined by St John Ambulance personnel and cleared of any injury.
Race 4   TRAINERS & OWNERS DON'T FORGET TO COME TO HAWERA MOB PACE
FREDASTAIRE - over-raced middle stages when leading.
BECKER - Trainer D Bublitz was warned for failing to have the correct colours available. Paced roughly in the early stages. Weakened final turn.
MAJOR MAJOR - weakened final turn.
UNCLE DREW - raced wide early.
VICTOR BRAVO - over-raced middle stages.
Race 5   HAWERA HARNESS RACING IS GOOD TO GO ARE YOU? MOBILE PACE
BETA PREPARE - paced roughly late in the run home.
BAD MEDICINE - raced wide through the early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 950m.
LORD DELMAR - over-raced early and middle stages.
Race 6   HAWERA GRASS TRACK RACEDAYS JAN/FEB 2025 MOBILE PACE
ENYA FRANCO - Junior Driver W House, who declined the assistance of a senior, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. Mr House reported that the mare had lay in throughout the run home causing him difficulty and that the removable deafeners had failed to activate despite his efforts.
HA'PENNY - lay out when weakening in the run home.
Race 7   GRASS TRACK RACING @ HAWERA IS THE ONLY WAY HANDICAP TROT
BEVRON - late scratching at 12.03pm by order of Stewards due to being an acceptor in Race 1.
KISS MY PIXEL - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Weakened final turn hampering a trailing runner.
MENTALIST - broke at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly and then broke again near the 600m losing all chance.
COSMIC ANGEL - broke passing the 1800m losing considerable ground. Hampered when held up for a distance by a weakening runner rounding the final turn. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break during the running.
QUERCUS RUBRA - weakened final turn.
JOHNNY WHO - weakened final turn. When questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama stated the gelding had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate initially before a normal recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections for the second day.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - lay out under pressure throughout the run home.
Race 8   MASONIC HOTEL MOBILE PACE
NEYMAR - broke when leading approaching the 400m hampering trailing runners and lost all chance. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Connections advised they would be making gear changes for the second day.
THE ELITE ATHLETE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
FABRICATE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
BUGALUGS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
STEALERS WHEEL - lay in and broke near the 400m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
