Race 1   MILTON NIGHT 'N DAY TROT
SHARMA TROUBLE - broke briefly at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly entering the first bend and shifted outwards losing further ground. Raced wide early stages. Again trotted roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - broke near the 1300m losing all chance.
TARRAGINDI - began awkwardly then broke after 50m losing ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break in the early stages. Driver M Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
DON AMECHE - broke near the 150m.
BIRCH - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1300m.
MADISON'S MOON - broke near the 1300m hampering a trailing runner and losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
MAJESTIC CHALLEN - broke near the 500m losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 150m.
Race 2   AGRISPRAY MOBILE PACE
VINCHETTO - paced roughly in the score up however was in position at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 500m.
RACIE DALE - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again near the 500m checking trailing runners and losing ground. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the gelding.
TACT RONIN - broke as the start was effected and shifted out hampering an outside runner and broke gear with the gelding being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the barrier record of TACT RONIN.
REIVER - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Paced roughly and broke briefly when negotiating the crossing near the 1900m. Checked by a breaking runner and blundered near the 500m.
BALTIC STAR - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
JANAKA'S DELIGHT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 500m.
COCK A HOOP - back from the Unruly position at the start. Driver B Norman was issued with a warning for crossing over prior to the start. Over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
Race 3   WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
CRACKASKY - over-raced in the middle stages when outside the leader.
MOSTERT - paced roughly near the 1600m losing ground.
ULTIMATE MACH - paced roughly shortly after the start.
JAY R TOLKIEN - held up in the early stages of the run home.
JUST LIKE JAGGER - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
DALLAS DALE - held up in the early stages of the run home.
PROSPERITY - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly shortly after the start. Broke briefly near the 1400m losing ground.
GATI - lay in and struck a track marker near the 1400m. Weakened final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation other than the filly may not have handled the grass track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.
Race 4   VALLEY LUMBER MOBILE PACE
AVENGER - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
GLIDING HIGH - trainer J Morrison was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after presenting the gelding with removable deafeners which were not notified. Struck a track marker near the 1400m.
AIRWAVES - raced wide early. Hung inwards for a distance passing the 1900m.
Race 5   DOWNIE STEWART LAWYERS TROT
SON OF THE CLEANER - broke over the concluding stages.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - connections advised the gelding has been treated for ulcers since last racing. Began awkwardly. Broke near the 200m losing its chance.
VELOCITY JET - held up in the early stages of the run home. Broke over the concluding stages.
BLITHE - began awkwardly. Broke near the 500m hampering trailing runners and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SHEZA TRENDY ONE - began awkwardly and trotted roughly in the early stages.
OUR SUPERFUND - broke near the 1950m losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 500m.
BURNING LOVE - driver K Green reported the removable deafeners would not release due to the cord becoming entangled.
MARKTHEWARRIOR - hampered by a breaking runner near the 500m.
Race 6   BRENT IRVING & PAUL THOMSON MOBILE PACE
LILY'S A STAR - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Paced roughly near the 150m having to be steadied by driver S Thornley. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break shortly after the start.
CUTIE - made contact with the sulky wheel of THE NEXT BEST THING shortly after the start and paced roughly for several strides in consequence. Driver H Douglas was warned for the manner he drove at this stage of the race.
FOREVER ARDEN - broke briefly in the score up and was out of the Unruly position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke near the 900m losing ground. Paced roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out in consequence. When asked to comment on the performance driver O Kite advised that the gelding had lost a plate shortly after the start and failed to handle the grass track. Trainer W Adams advised it was his intention to avoid racing the gelding on grass tracks for the foreseeable future.
Race 7   KIA ORA CAMPERS PACING CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
The start was delayed when a number of runners were fractious in the pre-race formation. There was a further delay when HACKSAW RIDGE required a gear adjustment.
DECEPTIVE LEE - held up final bend.
SHE'S TOUGH - weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.
HACKSAW RIDGE - fractious prior to the start. Sent to the Unruly position by Starter Mr B Ward where the gelding will remain for future standing starts.
MR CASH MAN - raced wide early.
STILL ROCKIN - fractious prior to the start. Sent to the Unruly position by Starter Mr B Ward where the gelding will remain for future standing starts. Refused to pace away after the start was effected losing all chance. Driver R Gutsell was warned after using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion shortly after the start.
BROOKIES PLAYER - swung sideways as the start was effected hampering a trailing runner and was then slow over the early stages losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
LIFE OF ART - over-raced and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of STEP IT UP A NOTCH near the 900m having to be steadied.
SOUTH SEAS ROCK - hampered at the start when the runner in front swung sideways. Driver H Douglas was warned after using the whip with his foot removed from the sulky footrest.
Race 8   TAIERI WOOL & SKIN (1998) LTD MOBILE PACE
LOU'S DEAL - weakened over the concluding stages hampering a trailing runner. When asked to comment on the performance of the favoured runner driver S Ottley advised she was disappointed and could offer no tangible explanation.
NO ADDED SUGAR - raced wide early.
MATAURA B B - over-raced middle stages. Hung inwards throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver B Orange.
MR PRESIDENT - paced roughly shortly after the start. Driver B Barclay was spoken to advisedly for the manner he drove near the 300m when anticipating a run.
FLYING BIRD - held up by a weakening runner in the early stages of the run home.
SULTAN OF SWING - lay in racing into the first bend contacting several track markers and again lay in contacting track markers when weakening on the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver N Williamson advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation other than the gelding may not have been suited by the grass track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.
Race 9   ICON INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION TROTTING CUP (HCP TROT)
A false start was declared at the first attempt when the 30-metre barrier strand failed to release.
STYRAX - broke at the start losing all chance.
CODY BANNER - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SUPERFAST RONNIE - broke after 200m losing considerable ground. Again broke passing the 250m.
JIMMY CARTER - broke after 150m losing all chance.
Race 10   QUEST APARTMENTS DUNEDIN MOBILE PACE
RIGHTAZZ - raced wide from the 700m.
BOBBIES ROCK - held up in the middle stages of the run home. Driver D Anderson reported he did not release the removable deafeners in consequence. Stewards questioned Mr Anderson, assisted by N Williamson, regarding his decision to shift ground outwards prior to the passing lane resulting in his runner being held up in the run home. After hearing from Mr Anderson and Mr Williamson, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) which Mr Anderson admitted, in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure he finished in the best possible position. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Anderson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 4 January 2025 (5 days).
SMART I AM - weakened from the 400m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
