Co-Trainer R Dunn advised Stewards on 29 November that DOUBLE QUICK has recovered well since its last start and failed to handle racing right handed. Mr Dunn added the horse has been returned to their Canterbury stable to continue its current preparation. |

HILLBILLY - held up final turn. Driver M McKendry was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour late in the run home. Mr McKendry stated that he was mindful that the two year old gelding which was having its 4th race day start had galloped rounding the final turn losing its chance at its previous start. As a result he had been reluctant to place this runner under additional pressure after having applied the whip on several occasions when improving in the passing lane inside the 100m. He further explained that he felt that HILLBILLY had been doing its best and would not have finished in a better position. After considering the matter and viewing the replays Mr McKendry's explanation was noted however he was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his runners are driven out to the end of the race where circumstances allow in the future. | |

Driver K Coppins (assisted by T Mitchell) was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which she drove in the incident near the 600m.
