Race 1   OSBORNE GROUP CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS HANDICAP TROT
ALL MUSCLED UP - slow early. Checked by a breaking runner entering the first turn having to take evasive action. Broke passing the 250m but soon settled.
SCOOTS - broke entering the first turn checking trailing runners losing considerable ground. Lay in contacting track markers near the 1850m and broke losing further ground. Broke on another occasion near the 1250m contacting track markers and then broke again near the 350m when trailing the field. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
KISS MY PIXEL - checked by a breaking runner entering the first turn and briefly became entangled in that runner's sulky losing considerable ground. Commenced to weaken near the 500m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a small puncture to the off knee which required treatment.
COSMIC ANGEL - broke rounding the first turn losing considerable ground.
LA DAMA - broke near the 2100m losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 700m losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
QUERCUS RUBRA - raced clear in the lead during the middle stages.
Race 2   POST OFFICE HOTEL PAHIATUA MOBILE PACE
The initial score up was aborted after WAI B NGARO swung around and proceeded in the opposite direction despite the efforts of the Clerk of the Course. This runner was declared a late scratching at 5.36pm by order of the Stewards under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners. After hearing submissions from Trainer D Gale that he would be adding a pacifier to this runner's gear along with a change of driver for the second day a final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
CANDY GIRL - slow early.
MAGIE DO - lay in rounding the turns.
VINCENT REACTRESS - lay out under pressure early in the run home but was immediately corrected by Driver W House.
NAROBI - held up early final turn.
Race 3   MASTERTON CLUB MOBILE PACE
LOOKATME CHRISTY - paced roughly near the 1000m when at the rear losing ground. Paced roughly again rounding the final turn and in the run home. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
Race 4   CONNIE STEWART NZ SOTHEBYS INT REALTY WAIRARAPA CUP MOB PACE
RUN MASON RUN - weakened rounding the final turn.
GOTTA ELECT BILL - broke entering the first turn checking trailing runners losing ground before settling midfield. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
ROUGH AND READY - checked entering the first turn when having to take evasive action to avoid a breaking runner losing ground.
BAD MEDICINE - checked entering the first turn when having to take evasive action to avoid a breaking runner and broke losing ground.
RED RACKHAM - checked entering the first turn when having to take evasive action to avoid a breaking runner losing ground.
Race 5   BRUCE CRAIG MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
DELTA KILO - when questioned regarding his decision to shift away from the leader FRANCO HOFFMAN's back near the 200m Driver W House stated that DELTA KILO had been causing him some difficulty when laying in so he felt it was a better option to shift out on to the back of the improving BLUE CHIP LOU rather than risk contacting the sulky wheel of FRANCO HOFFMAN that appeared to be under pressure. Mr House added that with hindsight he may have been better served to have looked to regain the lead midrace.
DREAM ON LOU - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 6.45pm when found to be lame in the preliminary. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
BLUE CHIP LOU - raced greenly passing the 100m when shifting up the track despite the efforts of Driver C Hackett.
Race 6   PATRONS MOBILE PACE
DOCTOR TIM - Driver B Orange reported that only one sliding blind activated.
EDDIE OSEI - weakened in the run home.
LORD DELMAR - raced fiercely middle stages on a slow tempo.
Race 7   HILTON DELEGAT PAINTING & DECORATING MOBILE PACE
MORERE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver B Orange stated the gelding was slightly disappointing but may not have been suited to the manner in which the race was run when developing into a sprint home. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
BAILEYS PITCH - over-raced middle stages.
