Race 1   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY SOUTH OF THE BOMBAYS HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to the 10m barrier strand having to be replaced.
TRIFOLIUM - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Lay inwards near the 1000m striking a track marker and trailed the field thereafter.
FLYING SCOTSMAN - broke rounding the first bend and galloped for a considerable distance before settling at the rear. Weakened final bend.
EAGLE HANOVER - briefly crowded racing into the first bend.
JASINOVA - required assistance from an attendant when called into line. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
YUROK - shifted inwards briefly crowding an inside runner racing into the first bend.
JOCA'S HILL - late scratching at 9.17am on veterinary advice.
KIMKAR DASH - trotted roughly rounding the first bend losing ground and trailed the field throughout. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that after trotting roughly over the early stages he had been unable to make ground on the body of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have signs of mild muscular soreness in the off hind. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Race 2   BORDER FENCING SERVICES JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - lay inwards during the score up. Continued to lay inwards at various stages. Weakened in the run home.
WATCH YOUR BACK - placed in restricted room near the 1200m when an outside runner shifted inwards .
MIDFREW LUCRE - pre-race warmed. Driver S Burley was warned for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
ALWAYS B CHARLIE - lay inwards near the 1200m placing an inside runner in restricted room.
MCKENDRICK - Driver M Ranger reported that the sliding blinds failed to activate despite her efforts.
BARBAROSSA - lay inwards near the 500m striking track markers. Again lay inwards over the concluding stages and raced inside the final track marker.
CONRAD H - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
Race 3   HR FISKEN & SONS HANDICAP TROT
HEARTBREAK HOTEL - lay outwards during the run home despite the efforts of Driver Z Butcher. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld to enable Stewards to ascertain whether there were grounds for a protest for alleged interference to VAL THORENS which raced in restricted room between HEARTBREAK HOTEL and FATHER BARRY during the run home. After hearing the relative evidence from Drivers Z Butcher (HEARTBREAK HOTEL), T Mitchell (VAL THORENS) and J Dickie (FATHER BARRY) and viewing the replays Stewards did not proceed with the protest as it could not be established that VAL THORENS would of beaten HEARTBREAK HOTEL with Driver T Mitchell (VAL THORENS) declining the opportunity to proceed with a protest.
OCEAN EYES - broke entering the first bend losing all chance.
STONE COLD - broke at the start losing ground.
PARADISE ALI - broke near the 1300m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
VAL THORENS - raced wide early.
FATHER BARRY - pre-race warmed. Raced four wide from 600m.
Race 4   TAB GOLDEN GAIT FRIDAY 20 DEC AT ALEX PARK MOBILE PACE
CLOUDING OVER - connections advised the mare would be racing in season.
DEAR GOD - late scratching at 9.26am on veterinary advice.
CHASE ME - raced wide early.
Race 5   TAB - NORTHERN METRO PACERS SERIES FINAL MOBILE PACE
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - briefly hampered by an outside runner near the 50m before laying inwards just short of the winning post checking an inside runner.
FIFTH AND FINAL - shifted inwards in the run home briefly hampering DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER which then lay inwards onto an inside runner. Stewards were satisfied that neither horse or driver could be fully apportioned blame, however reminded Driver M McKendry of his obligations in future.
MATAI PHIL - broke at the start but soon settled. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages. Checked late in the run home by an outside runner.
HAWKEYE PIERCE - raced wide from the 1100m.
Race 6   TAB - NORTHERN METRO TROTTERS SERIES FINAL HANDICAP TROT
EYRE I WILL - broke entering the first bend and galloped for a considerable distance before settling.
BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke near the 400m losing all chance.
FEARLESS - began awkwardly.
ARADNE - pre-race warmed.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - Driver T Mitchell reported that he had not activated the sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
PANTANI - hampered by an inside runner passing the 200m and broke.
HIGH ENERGY - when questioned regarding the performance Driver C Hackett reported that after the three wide line had failed to establish in the middle stages she had been unable to make ground due to the fast closing sectionals and was satisfied with the way the mare had finished off the race.
DREAM OF YOU - broke passing the 200m hampering an outside runner. When questioned regarding the performance Driver D Balle reported that prior to his gelding breaking leaving the final bend he been unable to make sufficient ground due to the closing sectionals.
Race 7   GRAND PARK MOBILE PACE
SECRETS ABOUND - held up final bend.
THE JOLLY ROGER - required assistance from an attendant in the pre-race formation. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SEMBA - broke in the score up and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 8   NZB STANDARDBRED 2 YO MOBILE PACE
SADHAKA - raced keenly middle stages.
AVENTADOR - tended to shift out under pressure throughout the run home. Driver D Butcher was advised to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the future.
BEACHBREAK - raced keenly middle stages.
Race 9   AUCKLAND CO-OP TAXIS 300-3000 MOBILE PACE
SHONTELLE - paced roughly having to be restrained racing into the first bend. Weakened in the run home.
SPIRITED PEGGY - over-raced middle stages when leading.
EYELINER - over-raced middle stages.
