Race 1   ALAN EDGE RACING STABLES (AMATEUR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
INTERPOL - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m. Locked wheels with KATHERINE which lay inwards rounding the final bend losing all chance.
THE HIGHLANDER - fractious prior to the start requiring assistance from a Starting Attendant. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
VRILO - over-raced early and middle stages.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - locked wheels momentarily with EDGE OF REASON after 150m. Raced wide early. Attempted to ease near the 1200m hampering trailing runners.
KATHERINE - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1200m. Lay inwards rounding the final bend and locked wheels with INTERPOL losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
EDGE OF REASON - locked wheels momentarily with RUBY'S A DELIGHT after 150m. Paced roughly rounding the final bend when held up for clear racing room. Driver A Edge advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled. Mr Edge was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
OFF THE EDGE - out of position at the start. Driver C Wigg was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. Raced wide from the 600m.
Race 2   FLOORPRIDE RANGIORA / LION NZ MOBILE PACE
MISTY BLUE - paced roughly leaving the final bend.
RUSHKINOFF - co-trainers C & C Dalgety were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds.
GIMMESOMELOVIN - raced wide early.
DIDJASEEMIKI - hung outwards at various stages during the running. Held up throughout the run home. Driver R Close advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
THE NEXT BEST THING - hung inwards throughout the run home causing driver W House difficulty.
VISCOUNT BANNER - held up late in the run home.
Race 3   GAMESON RACING/FISSENDEN BROS/CRAYPOT KITCHEN & BAR TROT
A false start was declared when OPAWA PEAK was unable to take up its rightful barrier position due to being crowded.
LOVE POTION - broke near the 2000m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend losing all chance.
WHAT THE BELL - driver S Ottley advised she did not activate the sliding blinds or removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
OPAWA PEAK - weakened from the 900m and then hung outwards simultaneously to the improving BEVRON hanging inwards near the 800m and locked wheels hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
BOYZ INVASION - weakened final bend.
KAWHI - raced wide from the 900m. Weakened final bend.
BEVRON - hung inwards simultaneously to OPAWA PEAK hanging outwards near the 800m and locked wheels losing all chance and was retired from the race.
RACHMANINOV - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2000m.
THE RIVER BOY - hampered near the 800m losing ground. Driver S Thornley advised that despite being hampered near the 800m he had been disappointed with the effort of the gelding.
Race 4   PRECUT CONSTRUCTION (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
HA'PENNY - weakened final bend.
POST PAINTER - lay outwards throughout the run home and shifted up the track forcing SANDY SHORE wider. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until driver T Chmiel (SANDY SHORE) placed 2nd, confirmed his chances had not been affected. Driver R Close was warned to make a better effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
SARASOTA SUNSET - weakened final bend.
DON'T TELL JENNY - broke shortly after the start hampering an outside runner losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
SANDY SHORE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Forced wider on the track by an inside runner in the home straight.
Race 5   INNOVATIVE WASTE KAIKOURA (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
JAZZY STYX - held up early in the run home. Driver W House advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
ANN SOPHIE - forced to race wider on the track near the 1100m when TOBY TOM B shifted outwards.
DARBY - crowded by an outside runner at the start losing ground. Weakened final bend.
LOGAN ROCK - lay inwards as the start was effected crowding an inside runner and then broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TOBY TOM B - shifted outwards near the 1100m forcing ANN SOPHIE to race wider on the track. Junior driver S Thornley, who declined assistance from a Senior driver, admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
Race 6   VIC & IRENE SMITH MEMORIAL (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE TROT
ZSAZSA BINX - lay in and broke racing into the first bend and shifted outwards checking BAFFLED which also broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
BAFFLED - checked and broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
ASPIRATIONAL DREAM - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
DASHER - lay inwards near the 1400m striking track markers. Weakened final bend.
Race 7   BOB ROCHFORD MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
JUDINE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
BIG MAMA MORRIS - over-raced early stages. Driver A Lethaby was issued a warning for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
KIWI RECORD - over-raced early stages.
FAST ACE - driver R Cameron was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MAJOR HAPPY - held up early in the run home. Shifted ground outwards near the 200m hampering an outside runner. Driver K Newman was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
ALMIGHTY CLEVER - lay inwards in the run home before being hampered by an inside runner which was shifting outwards near the 200m.
Race 8   ROAD METALS & KIWI CONCRETE MOBILE PACE
TERROR MA SUE - lay inwards near the 1400m striking track markers. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
WOLF OF WALL STREET - weakened final bend. Driver S Thornley reported the gelding had hung throughout causing him difficulty.
LILY'S A STAR - lay inwards near the 1400m striking track markers. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.
MELODY BANNER - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
