Cambridge Harness - Tuesday, 22nd October 2024
Race 6 - IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION MOBILE PACE
Stewards concluded their investigation into BARBAROSSA (Driver D Butcher) being held up when in restricted room throughout the home straight. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays Driver N Chilcott (IT'S NAE OR NEVER) was warned for allowing her runner to shift out over the early stages of the run home. In considering this matter Stewards took into account that CRACKER ROCK had lay in over the final stages, despite the efforts of Driver T Mitchell, contributing to the incident.
Auckland TC - Friday, 25th October 2024

Race Comments

Race 1   CLASSIQUE LANDSCAPERS AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
BET WEST - Driver B Hadley was warned for failing to take up his correct position in the pre-race formation and also for allowing his gelding to shift outwards hampering outside runners early in the score up.
BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE - Driver J Brownlee was questioned regarding the manner in which he drove during the middle stages when applying pressure to the leader before then weakening on the final turn. Mr Brownlee advised that in hindsight he may have asked too much of the horse with the effort taking its toll and connections would look to drive the mare in a more conservative manner in the future.
LUKAKU - Co-Trainers R & J Darby were warned for presenting the gelding to race with non-notified blinds. Lay in rounding the turns.
MIDFREW LUCRE - pre-race warmed. Raced four wide from the 500m.
GLADYS GREENLAND - lay in rounding the turns. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
Race 2   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK NORTHERN METRO SERIES HT 1 HCP TROT
A false start was declared when the front barrier strand failed to clear FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY. The start was then further delayed when FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY lunged forward causing the barrier strand to release. Given that a false start had not been declared at the second attempt of the start Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on the barrier manners of FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY.
SUNSET HILL - broke after 150m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
ALDEBARAN D B - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
KAWARAU LIL - trotted roughly approaching the first turn losing ground.
HUGHIE WALLACE - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m.
ARADNE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
BRAVEHEARTHIGHLANDER - lay out in the run home.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - broke rounding the final turn.
Race 3   LATHER UP TENDER CLOSES TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
SHONTELLE - Trainer W Fausett advised the mare would be racing in season.
LOVEABLE ROGUE - back from position throughout the score up despite the efforts of Driver T Mitchell. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Weakened final turn.
BRITTANIA - underwent a post-race Veterinary examination at the request of connections and found to be lame in the near fore. Stewards will follow up with Co-Trainer S Telfer in the coming days.
Race 4   SPEEDING SPUR TENDER CLOSES TONIGHT TROT
HEARTBREAK HOTEL - lay out racing through the straights. Broke rounding the final turn and galloped for a considerable distance. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding broke in excess of 150m rounding the final turn. Connections did not contest the protest and HEARTBREAK HOTEL was disqualified by Stewards.
IRONCLAD - over-raced middle stages. Lay in rounding the turns and in particular the final turn before weakening.
KENNY HILL - fractious prior to the start then broke hampering trailing runners losing considerable ground. Authorisation of this runner's promoted 4th placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of connections.
BOSS JO - broke racing into the first turn losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare racing manners.
ILLICIT LOVE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
HAYLEY MHOR - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Driver J Stormont reported that the mare had cast the near fore shoe during the running.
DOLLY P - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
JEWEL ELLERY - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Weakened final turn.
Race 5   SWEET LOU TENDER CLOSES TONIGHT 1-2 WIN MOBILE PACE
CLOUDING OVER - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight. Shifted out marginally under pressure passing the 100m placing an outside runner in restricted room.
IT'S NAE OR NEVER - Trainer N Chilcott was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the filly to race with blinds instead of the notified sliding blinds. Placed in restricted room from the 100m by an inside runner then was checked and had to be steadied when an outside runner shifted in near the 40m. Stewards could not attribute blame solely to any horse or driver so took the matter no further.
DOUBLE QUICK - paced roughly rounding the first turn. Weakened leaving the final turn.
BEETASTIC - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Lay in under pressure late in the run home checking an inside runner.
Race 6   HYDROFLOW NORTHERN METRO TROTTERS SERIES HEAT 2 HCP TROT
SANINARMBRO - tended to shift out throughout the run home which placed an outside runner in restricted room briefly approaching the 150m. Driver R Downey was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
FEARLESS - broke entering the first turn and was taken down inside the marker line to avoid causing interference to trailing runners losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
HALBERG - hampered briefly by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Broke near the 1750m hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance.
MONARCH HILL - broke briefly shortly after the start losing ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running through the early and middle stages of the run home.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - broke entering the first turn losing ground. Placed in restricted room early in the run home.
PANTANI - broke entering the first turn losing ground. Broke again rounding the final turn.

HIGH ENERGY - held up throughout the run home.
IRON LOVE - switched to a pace late in the run home.
DREAM OF YOU - hampered briefly by a breaking runner near the 1750m.

THE MIGHTY SULLY - over-raced middle stages. Weakened late in the run home.
