Race 1   LYDERS CONTRACTING / TUAPEKA SHEEP DIPPING HANDICAP TROT
GARONNE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
PHISHING - lay inwards passing the 1300m contacting track markers. Weakened final bend.
FATHER ON DOWN - fractious prior to the start then broke as the tapes were released losing all chance.
JOE KENNEDY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PRACTICAL MAGIC - trainer P Williamson was warned for presenting the mare with removable deafeners and not the notified fixed deafeners. Trotted roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver B Williamson.
TOP OF THE HILL - raced wide from the 750m.
Race 2   THOMPSON CONTRACTING / LIFE MEMBERS MOBILE PACE
JAYAR MAC - the required veterinary clearance was received.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - weakened final bend.
DISCO INFERNO - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
LA BAMBA - slow in the early stages then trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer R Austin advised he would have blood tests conducted in the coming days and undertook to report any findings to Stewards. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
HOGIE - paced roughly for a distance shortly after the start, laying inwards and contacting a track marker entering the first bend. Raced three wide without cover from the 1300m. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ROCK N ROLL DON - weakened in the run home.
Race 3   KENNY BUILDERS / MEL KENNY HARCOURTS BALCLUTHA MOBILE PACE
MAGIC SIGN - driver H Douglas reported the removable deafeners would not release due to the cord becoming entangled in the over-check.
ASK ME LOU - out of position at the start. Driver A Kyle was issued with a warning for failing to maintain his barrier position. Lay inwards entering the home straight.
ROBYNS ART - out of position at the start. Driver M Hurrell was issued with a warning for failing to maintain his barrier position. Mr Hurrell advised he would be recommending gear changes.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - out of position at the start. Driver N Williamson was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to maintain his barrier position. Briefly locked sulky wheels with FIREFOREFIDDLE near the 150m.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - briefly locked sulky wheels with WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE near the 150m.
RAKADEAKS - raced wide early until reaching the parked position near the 1650m.
NO ADDED SUGAR - raced wide with cover early until reaching the parked position near the 1400m. Junior driver D Anderson, assisted by B Gray, was spoken to advisedly for the manner he drove on the final bend.
Race 4   MILTON NIGHT 'N DAY / SOUTHWEST SHEARING MOBILE PACE
SHOWCASE - over-raced through the middle stages.
SHEZABETTORGIRL - briefly placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Over-raced through the middle stages.
BIG VINNIE - broke briefly in the score up however was in position at the start. Paced roughly rounding the first bend having to be steadied.
WILD EAST - paced roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
Race 5   JOHNSTONE ELECTRICAL / GOODMAN PLUMBING TROT
A false start was declared when BILL BOOTIT breasted the tape. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
BLITHE - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 900m.
DWINDLE STAR - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 900m.
VELOCITY JET - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again passing the 1300m losing all chance.
GRANNY ROSE - lay inwards rounding the final bend.
KENNY'S CHARM - lay inwards passing the 1200m contacting track markers. Lay inwards again passing the 900m contacting track markers then broke hampering trailing runners and losing all chance. Driver B Williamson reported the mare had been difficult to steer during the running.
BILL BOOTIT - raced wide early. Weakened final bend.
JORDAN ANNE - driver T Dewe was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 6   LAWRENCE TOWNHOUSE / CHAPMAN CONSTRUCTION MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when LORTON VALE broke in the score up checking second line runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver M Hill elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart where the gelding will remain for future mobile starts.
SAGWITCH - over-raced in the score up.
JENNY GUMP - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m. Weakened final bend. Driver N Williamson advised the mare had over-raced throughout which had been detrimental to its performance.
RAMBLIN ROVER - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
HUZUNI - raced wide early. Paced roughly when weakening passing the 700m hampering trailing runners. Driver S Ottley reported the mare had hung throughout and struck the sulky wheel discs on several occasions. A post-veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
HAZER - over-raced in the score up and on various occasions during the running. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
SARGENT BEST - held up rounding the final bend.
Following the running of this race the track conditions were upgraded to Good.
Race 7   LAWRENCE NIGHT 'N DAY / J J OTAGO HANDICAP TROT
MIXED FAITH - lay inwards and contacted track markers on the final bend.
CODY BANNER - trotted roughly on occasions through the middle stages. Lay inwards in the early stages of the run home.
FLYING WITHOUT WINGS - the near side rein pricker was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. When spoken to regarding the performance of favoured runner trainer/driver N Williamson advised that the race was not run to suit adding he was not disappointed with the effort.
Race 8   TUAPEKA LODGE CUP HANDICAP PACE
RIGHTAZZ - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JUDAQUE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
INSARCHATWIST - paced roughly losing ground final bend.
BROOKIES PLAYER - weakened from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
MIKEY MAGUIRE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Weakened final bend. Uneven in its gait throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
PINSEEKER - tangled away. Paced roughly final bend.
MIRACULOUS - over-raced in the middle stages.
Race 9   MACCA LODGE / FITZGERALD CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
ARTMORE - held up leaving the final bend.
GEMS DELIGHT - broke after 150m hampering a trailing runner. Broke again briefly near the 200m hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
NO PERFECT PRINCESS - checked by a breaking runner after 150m and broke briefly in consequence losing ground. Hampered again by a breaking runner near the 200m.
TRENDY VAN GOGH - over-raced through the middle stages.
FETA GO FERNCO - lay inwards under pressure throughout the home straight having to be corrected and was unable to be fully driven out by driver M Williamson.
