MELTON MAGNATE - over-raced middle stages. Held up middle stages of the run home. Shifted out near the 50m checking JUST FOXIN (T Williams) which paced roughly after striking the sulky wheel of MELTON MAGNATE. Driver R May defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground and checking an outside runner. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $300. | |

Mr Dunn added he attempted to improve wide on the final bend however had been unable to make ground due to the fast closing sectionals. | |
