EDICT - slow to begin. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
SCARLET MADAM - broke at the start losing ground.
HEAVEN - taken inwards by an outside runner just short of the winning post.
BAUTISTA - lay inwards over the concluding stages placing an inside runner in restricted room. Driver R May was advised he is to make more of an effort to straighten his runners in future.
FESTUS HAGGEN - raced in restricted room just short of the winning post when runners to the outside lay inwards.
Race 2   WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES TROT
SEE NO EVIL - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend losing all chance.
BROTHER JOHNSON - broke briefly at the start then broke again shortly after losing considerable ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer P Williamson.
GLANCE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
SILVESTER - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 2100m losing all chance.
TINKERBELLE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Lay out and trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully driven out by driver S Ottley who advised she did not release the removable deafeners in consequence. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking at the start.
BOJACK HORSEMAN - lay outwards and raced wide on the track racing into the first bend. Broke passing the 400m hampering a trailing runner. Connections advised the gelding had cast a hind shoe.
MIKKO KOIVU - cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
Race 3   TAMAR LOPER BUILDERS MOBILE PACE
TAIKA - broke rounding the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ROCK OR BUST - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the gelding had lay outwards and he had difficulty steering, adding he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed no abnormality.
SWEET RAINE - crowded late in the score up and was slightly out of position at the start.
CARRERA BRAVO - lay inwards late in the score up placing an inside runner in restricted room. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
STRUTTER - lay out on a number of occasions during the running placing driver M Williamson in difficulty. Weakened from the 600m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
Race 4   MATTHEW WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES HANDICAP TROT
BRIANNA - tangled away. Weakened final bend.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1500m.
WHISPERING OVER - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the horse.
NUBLIAH CHAMAY - shifted outwards marginally at the start.
SHANDON BELLS - crowded and broke at the start when runners either side shifted ground. Lay inwards and struck track markers near the 1500m.

TOP POCKET CHANCE - paced at the start and had to be returned to its correct gait by driver S Ottley losing all chance.

ENABLE - over-raced middle stages.
ARAFURA - lay inwards and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of BETTER BE QUICK which had lay outwards near the 230m. Broke passing the 200m hampering the trailing KATYS SHADOW and losing ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and lost ground when in a break, and also that KATYS SHADOW would not have finished ahead of this runner despite being hampered near the 200m.
KATYS SHADOW - hung inwards in the early stages of the run home and was then hampered by the breaking ARAFURA near the 200m.
BETTER BE QUICK - lay outwards rounding the final bend and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of ARAFURA near the 230m despite the efforts of driver B Orange.
DIVINE STORM - paced roughly when weakening rounding the final bend.
MONKEE MAJOR - held up late in the run home.
Race 6   REPUBLICAN PARTY ROAD TO THE NZ CUP MOBILE PACE
CRACKLE N CRUNCH - checked by a breaking runner near the 1700m losing ground. Raced wide from the 700m. Broke near the 200m hampering trailing runners and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ULTIMATE GUINNESS - driver R Holmes was warned for being late to arrive at the start area. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1700m. Injured in the stabling area following the race and was treated by the oncourse veterinarian. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse racing next. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
UNCLE PETE - broke in the score up and failed to settle losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
LOUIE MASSIMO - broke when progressing to the lead near the 1700m checking and hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. LILAC LUXURY - driver S Ottley reported she had sustained a punctured sulky tyre rounding the final bend.
IVONA DADIC - held up throughout the run home. Junior driver S Hill, assisted by B Orange, admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 400m when contacting the sulky wheel of LILAC LUXURY with the tyre puncturing in consequence. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hill's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 18 October until the conclusion of racing on 23 October 2024 (2 days).

KEEPING IT KIWI - held up throughout the run home.
Race 9   OAMARU ENGINEERING HANDICAP TROT
KD ROYALTY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 200m.
MM SUNSHINE - hampered briefly at the start by an outside runner. Held up early stages of the run home.
SHEZA TRENDY ONE - shifted inwards abruptly at the start crowding an inside runner.
FORGIVENESS - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner and losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer P Nairn.
STREAMING LIVE - raced wide early. Weakened from the 1200m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days regarding the recovery of the mare.

Race 10   PLACEMAKERS OAMARU CUP HANDICAP PACE
KASHKEEPER - broke passing the 1300m hampering trailing runners. Broke again near the 1100m and was retired from the event. The horse was immediately attended to by the oncourse veterinarian before being transported by the Horse Ambulance to an Equine Clinic for further assessment and treatment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days regarding the recovery of the gelding.
GLORYS DELIGHT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1300m. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room momentarily near the 100m.
DREAMS ARE FREE - fractious prior to the start and broke losing ground. Raced greenly near the 150m shifting inwards.
LESTER - tangled away. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1300m. Held up early stages of the run home.
WOODBINE ROCKS - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver J Morrison was spoken to advisedly for the manner he shifted ground near the 100m placing GLORYS DELIGHT in restricted room. Lay inwards over the concluding stages having to be straightened.
RAKERO ROCKET - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1300m.
WILD WILLOW - underwent a prerace veterinary inspection after appearing uneven in its gait during the preliminary and was cleared to start.

MAJOR MEDLEY - broke briefly near the 1600m then raced wide from that point until reaching the parked position passing the 1000m.
MAJOR ART - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MY FRIEND LOUIE - raced wide without cover from the 700m.
CHEEKY RED - weakened final bend.
TERRA SANCTA - underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after becoming fractious in its preliminary, rearing and falling to the track and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.20pm. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to TERRA SANCTA racing next.
MELODY BANNER - over-raced near the 1400m and broke when there was a slight easing of the pace, losing considerable ground.
Race 12   GRASS TRACK RACING HERE 11TH DECEMBER FROM 4PM PACE
FUN TO COME - underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after warming up unfavourably and was declared a late scratching at 5.45pm. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to FUN TO COME racing next.
COLIN MCBRIDE - began awkwardly losing ground.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - fractious prior to the start and breasted the barrier on release.
LAMARLI - raced wide early.
MASTERLOU - the boring pole was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably.
KADA - broke briefly at the start. Paced roughly rounding the final bend when weakening. Broke over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the filly to be lame in the off-hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
