Stewards questioned drivers S Thornley (WOLF OF WALL STREET) and G O'Reilly (BETTOR BE SHARP) regarding BETTOR BE SHARP breaking rounding the first bend when racing to the inside of WOLF OF WALL STREET. After hearing their explanations both drivers were issued a warning for the manner in which they drove when contesting a position.

Race 3   NZB STANDARDBRED HARNESS MILLION 2YO MOBILE TROT
VIVA LA VIDA - broke racing into the first bend hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ODINA - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
HADLEYMAE - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Connections advised the filly will be turned out for a spell.
DELLA'S FELLA - trotted roughly in the score up and broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Driver W House was spoken to advisedly for the manner he drove in the early stages.
HIGHER POWER - contacted and raced inside several track markers rounding the final bend and then hung inwards and trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage when racing inside track markers. When assessing this Stewards took into account the margin between 2nd and 3rd placing. Driver S Phelan was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for not taking corrective action prior to contacting a track marker.
JOHNNY TROTTER - broke after 100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MEANT TO BE - Hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Hung inwards late in the run home having to be straightened.
Race 4   AVENUE BLOODSTOCK MOBILE PACE
TOBY TOM B - held up throughout the run home. Driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
TABASCO - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
EDDIE OSEI - over-raced middle stages when racing in the parked position.
EASTWOOD DREAM - raced wide early.
MY FRIEND LOUIE - the required veterinary clearance was received. Broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ONWARDSANDUPWARDS - held up leaving the final bend and early in the run home.
MIKI BENNETT - held up throughout the run home and when over-racing became awkwardly positioned inside JACCKA OPA and raced inside track markers near the 100m and 50m. Driver T Williams advised he will be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding racing next.
Race 5   DANCINGINTHEDARK M (USA) CANTERBURY PARK CUP (HCP TROT)
CONFESSIONAL - broke at the start losing all chance.
MAUI - required assistance from a Starting Attendant to take up its barrier position. Began awkwardly and shifted outwards hampering a trailing runner. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
AARDIEBYTHEHILL - hampered at the start when an inside runner shifted outwards.
MIDNIGHT DASH - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MR LOVE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
KYVALLEY HOTSPUR - trotted roughly rounding the final bend losing ground. Continued to trot roughly in the run home. Driver A Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on one occasion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Butt's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 19 October up to and including 21 October 2024 (2 days). A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
LOVE N THE PORT - trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be driven out. Driver M Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed. Had to be steadied near the 900m when shifting ground simultaneously to MIGHTY LOGAN shifting inwards.
Race 6   WOODLANDS STUD MARES' SPRING SPRINT CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
CLASSIE LINC - over-raced middle stages resulting in the crupper slipping placing driver S Tomlinson in some difficulty with the mare being eased down and retired from the race near the 1000m. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
INSARCHATWIST - paced roughly for a distance near the 500m.
BOUDICA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R May. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 7   CANPRINT FLYING STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
CHASE A DREAM - raced wide early.
THE SURFER - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m. Held up final bend.
JUSTCALLMEMIKI - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages. Lay outwards near the 350m and locked wheels momentarily with COLD CHISEL. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
WE WALK BY FAITH - raced wide middle stages. Shifted outwards forcing COLD CHISEL to race wider on the track near the 1300m. Driver B Butt admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m and raced wide thereafter.
COLD CHISEL - raced wide middle stages. Forced to race wider on the track near the 1300m when WE WALK BY FAITH shifted outwards. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m. Locked wheels momentarily with JUSTCALLMEMIKI which lay outwards near the 350m and sustained a punctured sulky tyre in consequence.
BETTERTHANCASH - lay in on the final bend striking track markers.
LITTLE SPIKE - held up early in the run home.
MAKO - raced wide early.
HARRISON JOHN - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
BETTER KNUCKLE UP - raced wide early. Broke passing the 800m hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the colt. Authorisation of 5th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the horse had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
VESSEM - late scratching at 10.05am on Veterinary advice.

ABSOLUTE BABE - over-raced and raced greenly near the 1500m and brushed a track marker. Continued to over-race and race greenly for some distance before breaking near the 350m hampering a trailing runner losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
ALWAYS B MAGIC - over-raced middle stages.
JUSTYOUWAIT - hung inwards rounding the final bend striking and dislodging track markers.
IMPRESSIVE SHARD - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
CELESTIAL SEA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 350m.

HEISENBERG - fractious prior to the start and breasted the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver K Newman with a false start being declared after the barrier failed to clear the track. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Junior driver K Newman, who declined assistance from a Senior driver, admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Newman's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 18 October 2024 (2 days).

LINCOLN LOU - paced roughly and broke passing the 1500m hampering trailing runners losing ground. Paced roughly having to be steadied near the 750m. Lay inwards final bend contacting a track marker. A warning was placed on the colts racing record.
MARKETPLACE - raced wide early and wider on the track near the 1500m. Driver C Ferguson was warned for crossing his reins late in the run home to perform a celebratory gesture.
