Race 1   NZMCA PARKING AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed briefly when the field was turned out of line at the first attempt after SONSOFTHEMERCH reared and swung sideways when called forward onto the barrier. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
PRESIDENT FLYNNTIN - lay in rounding the turns.
SLAINTE - held up final turn and early stages of the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
SONSOFTHEMERCH - broke passing the 150m. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 2   HIRE A VENUE @ CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE
CHEER ME ON - paced roughly near the 100m when challenging in the passing lane and had to be steadied losing momentum.
WATCH YOUR BACK - strongly restrained shortly after the start to obtain cover.
MALEFICENCE - lay in late in the score up.
MIDFREW LUCRE - pre-race warmed. Lay in when being restrained shortly after the start.
Race 3   OFF THE TRACK FOOD AND BEV HANDICAP TROT
JEWEL ELLERY - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
SO MYSTIFYING - required assistance from an attendant when parading prior to the start. Broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future stands at the trainer's request.
ITBETTERBENOW - broke near the 1700m but soon settled. Weakened in the run home.
QUERCUS RUBRA - delayed the start briefly when rearing before turning into line to take up the unruly position on 30m. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Raced wide early.
Race 4   OKTOBERFEST @ THE CLUBHOUSE TICKETS ON SALE MOBILE PACE
TUAREG - raced wide early. Driver N Delany was warned for allowing his gelding to shift outwards under pressure throughout the run home. Mr Delany was also warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
STICK WITH ME - weakened final turn. Driver J Stormont was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home. When questioned regarding the colt's performance Mr Stormont could offer no explanation for the disappointing run.
DOO YOU WANT ME - lost some momentum when improving near the 300m after being forced wide.
Race 5   CHRISTMAS AT THE RACEWAY TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE
SHONTELLE - had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
PASS CODE - weakened in the run home.
WORDS - late scratching at 8.00am on veterinary advice.
MARY MAGDALENE - over-raced near the 1250m when being steadied to attempt to surrender the lead with Driver Z Butcher then electing to maintain the front.
SHEZA MERMAID - raced greenly approaching the 1200m when attempting to improve to the lead then raced without cover for the remainder.
Race 6   MVS NEONATAL ICU MOBILE PACE
NEYMAR - Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(5) against this runner's 2nd placing alleging the gelding had galloped late in the run home and was lapped on at the finish by the 3rd placed IT'S NAE OR NEVER. After viewing the replays the protest was not contested by connections and NEYMAR was relegated to 3rd placing by Stewards.
BENSON DUDE - the near side guider became detached on the home turn. The gear was inspected and found to have been in satisfactory condition with Trainer J Kriechbaumer deemed not to be at fault.
SAYS WHO - raced wide early.
Race 7   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND TUESDAY TROTTERS FINAL HCP TROT
The start was delayed briefly when several runners became fractious when called into line.
WISH FOR FISH - lay in rounding the turns. Driver D McGowan was issued a warning for using his whip free of the rein approaching the 800m and then again near the 400m. Mr McGowan admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McGowan's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 4 October upto and including 11 October 2024 (2 days). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
COSMIC ANGEL - broke at the start losing ground before settling.
BREAK FREE - fractious when called into line. Trotted roughly passing the 150m.
MR MUSCLE - fractious when called into line. Broke at the start losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
MAZEPPA - raced at the rear throughout. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver L Chin stated that the gelding had not been travelling well at any stage of the event and could offer no explanation for the disappointing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Dr Chin in the coming days.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - Driver S Abernethy advised Stewards following the race that connections have decided for the gelding to be driven more conservatively in its upcoming engagement at Auckland on the 4 October given the rise in class of the event.
Race 8   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS TUESDAY PACERS FINAL MOBILE PACE
CRISTIANO BUCCINI - held up final turn and throughout the run home.
ITS ELECTRIFYING - raced wide with cover from the 950m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that he was satisfied with the run given the gelding had raced wide and the rise in class.
CAULFIELD - held up final turn and throughout the run home.
BARBAROSSA - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1000m.
RED RACKHAM - shifted out early in the run home when Driver H Orange was activating the deafeners but was immediately corrected.
BAD MEDICINE - raced wide with cover early before being left three wide without cover from the 1000m.
ROUGH AND READY - raced wide with cover from the 1050m.
