Pre-race blood testing was carried out. Trainers were directed to affix mudguards to their sulkies. Due to a power outage with the supply to the course following Race 7 the final two races were delayed. The new start times were as follows: Race 8 - 5.43pm Race 9 - 6.05pm |

ALWAYS A MENACE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Williamson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Over-raced through the middle stages. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m. | |
BUBBLE ME - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m. Stewards questioned driver K Green regarding the tactics she adopted through the middle stages, in particular near the 800m when electing to remain in the running line as opposed to shifting out and progressing forward. Miss Green advised that the filly was not travelling well enough to progress into the race without cover and so she elected to retain her position and wait to trail another runner forward, however the filly then failed to finish the race off as she expected and had proved disappointing. Stewards noted the comments. | |
WAKAI HANA - the offside sulky wheel was contacted by a trailing runner near the 600m. | |
LOTTIE'S LUCK - driver A Milne was warned for the manner he drove near the 600m when allowing his runner to contact the sulky wheel of WAKAI HANA. | |

EMERALD ABBEY - locked sulky stays with HOT FIZZ rounding the final bend losing all chance. Driver P Hunter reported that the mare had cast the near hind shoe rounding the final bend. | |
NO ADDED SUGAR - trainer T Dewe was issued with a $50 Minor Infringement for failing to affix mudguards to the sulky. | |
TASHS BAD GIRL - hampered by a breaking runner final bend. | |
SAGWITCH - weakened from the 600m. The off-hind bandage came adrift during the running. Stewards took no action due to the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days. | |
HOT FIZZ - paced roughly and broke rounding the final bend, shifting out abruptly and locking sulky stays with EMERALD ABBEY, hampering a trailing runner and losing all chance. When questioned regarding this driver K Tomlinson advised the mare had attempted to run off the track resulting in it locking sulky stays. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. |
