When questioned regarding the performance driver R Holmes advised the gelding had travelled well however failed to respond when placed under pressure and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer D Keast advised he would have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results. | |
ART JORDAN - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver J Dunn advised he did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence. | |

MASSIVE MERC - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages. After viewing the replays driver A Clark did not contest the protest and MASSIVE MERC was disqualified by the Stewards. | |
