Race 4 - BRECKON FARMS 2YO MOBILE PACE
Trainer T Yesberg advised Stewards on 28 May that blood tests taken from UPTOWN FUNK revealed the horse to be suffering from a virus. Mr Yesberg also said the colt will be gelded and sent for a spell.

Race 1   NIGHT'N DAY PARK AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
THE HORNET - lay outwards racing into the first bend crowding an outside runner.
WILL HE ROCK - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Murtha. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up leaving the final bend.
ALEXIS ROCKET - crowded racing into the first bend and had to be steadied after runners either side shifted ground marginally. Over-raced middle stages.
OFF THE EDGE - lay inwards racing into the first bend crowding an inside runner. Stewards questioned driver A Edge regarding his decision not to activate the sliding blinds in the run home. Mr Edge advised that in its previous race the horse had failed to respond when the blinds were activated and had dropped the bit so he elected to continue to drive the gelding out without releasing them. After considering Mr Edge's explanation he was issued a $200 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to activate the sliding blinds. Mr Edge was also warned for using his whip free of the rein in the run home.
WOLFENSTEIN - raced wide early.
Race 2   THE TWO NOELS TROT
ADITI - began awkwardly losing ground. Hung inwards through the middle stages when improving wide on the track. Broke near the 1150m losing ground. Weakened final bend.
MISS MILLIE - trotted roughly in the run home before breaking just prior to the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing under Rule 870(5) alleging MISS MILLIE was lapped on at the finish by THE FIERY COUNTESS and MAJESTIC WHISPER. The connections did not contest the protest and after viewing the replays MISS MILLIE was relegated to 6th placing by the Adjudicative Committee.
SINNER COOL - driver R Holmes admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip excessively and in a continuous manner in the run home with the hearing adjourned until the NZMTC meeting on 2 June 2022.
BLITHE - broke at the start losing ground.
CASHEM - raced wide early. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MAD JACK - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
PENELOPE HALL - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
COSMIC ANGEL - held up early in the run home.
SASSY STAR - trotted roughly and was slow through the early stages. Forced to race four wide passing the 900m and was restrained to obtain cover. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the stable area with a small amount of blood present in one nostril and on examination was deemed not to be a bleeder.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
Race 3   THE GATEKEEPER'S BIRTHDAY MOBILE PACE
MONGOLIAN MACHETE - when spoken to regarding the improved performance junior driver M Hill advised the gelding had benefited from an economical trip throughout.
LECONTE - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised the gelding had been unsuited to working hard in the early stages after having to race wide.
BACKBURN - lay in throughout the run home having to be corrected by driver K Cox.
APACHE WARRIOR - raced wide early and paced roughly.
ME WE UNO - hung inwards racing into the first bend having to be corrected by driver C Smith. Raced wide early. Hung inwards when weakening final bend.
TERRA FIRMA - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Hung outwards and paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke near the 950m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   TURF SERVICES READYLAWN TIMARU PACE
FRANK BURNS - broke at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
PURE COURAGE - began awkwardly. Over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
MOVE IT ON OVER - driver G Smith reported the gelding had been striking the sulky wheel discs during the running.
OLIVIA'S STAR - weakened near the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
DIANA'S JOY - weakened final bend. Driver R Close reported the filly had been striking the sulky wheel discs during the running.
HE'S A JACKALACK - weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ON REPORT - held up early in the run home. Driver R Holmes admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home with the hearing adjourned until the NZMTC meeting on 2 June 2022.
CRIMSON ROCK - broke at the start.
JUSTIN FUN - retired from the race on the first bend after a sulky tyre deflated shortly after the start which resulted in the tyre tube wrapping around the axle.
Race 5   CATERING SOUTH CANTERBURY TROT
DWINDLE STAR - driver B Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
ROBO TROUBLE - broke at the start losing ground.
BOURBON ON THE ROCKS - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages when racing in the parked position.
Race 6   EQUINE CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES LTD MOBILE PACE
SPLASH OF CRIMSON - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
MITSI GAYNOR - raced wide without cover from the 900m. Locked wheels with TIFFS LITTLE SISTER which hung outwards leaving the final bend when weakening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the left hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
TIFFS LITTLE SISTER - hung outwards leaving the final bend and locked wheels with the weakening MITSI GAYNOR.
Race 7   VILLAGE INN (GERALDINE) TIMARU WINTER CUP (HCP PACE)
CYRUS - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed that the colt had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break at the start.
KHAL DROGO - broke briefly near the 250m. Held up late in the run home.
SHARDS FURY - late scratching at 11.28am on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
SZYBKA LANE - broke at the start losing ground.
PERAKI SEELSTER - briefly hampered by a breaking runner early in the run home.
Race 8   BROSNAN TRANSPORT PASSING LANE PACE
MUCHO MACHO MAN - paced roughly through the middle stages when over-racing. Held up throughout the run home.
KINGSDOWN ATOM - hampered at the start when LUMINITE broke and shifted inwards. As a result driver J Morrison had to push the breaking horse away from his runner for safety reasons.
LUMINITE - broke at the start losing ground and hampering inside runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
HIDDEN DESIRE - had to shift wider on the track to obtain clear racing room in the run home.
REFORMED - broke at the start losing ground.
WEBS REACTOR - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 9   EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES TROT
CODY BANNER - trotted roughly throughout the run home and could not be fully driven out.
LOVE IS EVERYWHERE - fractious prior to the start and reared on several occasions. Broke at the start losing all chance.
TOP HAT AND TAILS - broke after 100m losing all chance.
SOUTH PARK - over-raced middle stages and trotted roughly. Weakened near the 600m.
LA REINA DEL SUR - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start.
DANANGUS FELLA - trotted roughly throughout.

GOSAKHI - over-raced middle stages.
HONOUR SCROLL - held up for clear racing room late in the run home.
