Race 1   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. MOBILE TROT
NUBLIAH CHAMAY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Williamson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
COSMIC ANGEL - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver M Heenan. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Trotted roughly near the 900 metres. Hung inwards final bend striking several track markers. Held up early in the run home.
ADITI - driver G Smith reported the mare had over-raced through the middle stages.
PHOEBE K - trainer B Hill was issued a warning for being late to notify the mare would be racing without half hopples.
SON OF THE CLEANER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early. Broke near the 550 metres and again near the 300 metres losing all chance.
JUDICATE - broke near the 400 metres losing all chance.
Race 2   COMMODORE HOTEL MOBILE PACE
LAY ON MACDUFF - weakened leaving the final bend.
ROCK'N KIWI - Stewards enquired into the positioning of driver G Smith's right foot in the run home when driving his runner out. Mr Smith explained that he had attempted to activate the removable deafeners on several occasions with his foot however had difficulty in doing so due to the length of the cord. After reviewing the replays, Stewards were satisfied with Mr Smith's explanation and took the matter no further.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - out of position at the candy pole. Driver W House was issued a warning.
Race 3   GARRARDS (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MARES MOBILE PACE
HEY TONIGHT - had to be steadied near the 100 metres when crowded by an outside runner.
GREENBACK BOOGIE - over-raced middle stages.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - raced greenly shortly after the start hampering an outside runner.
ROCKNROLL DIVA - hampered shortly after the start.
LEGENDA FRANCO - lay inwards throughout the run home and crowded an inside runner near the 100 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver G Thornley advised she had difficulty steering the mare and was slightly disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Trainer S McRae advised Stewards on 17 May that LEGENDA FRANCO has recovered following its last race and the mare will continue with its current preparation.
Race 4   BEACON BILLBOARDS PACE
BLUE ON BLACK - raced greenly near the 900 metres.
WEONA REACTOR - fractious prior to the start and reared on several occasions. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Slow to begin. Weakened from the 800 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
BLITZEM BROMAC - broke at the start losing ground.
CHEEKYGRIN - held up by a weakening runner passing the 600 metres. Junior driver K Newman (assisted by J Dunn) admitted driving carelessly when contacting the sulky wheel of YANKEE JAY which punctured near the 500 metres. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Newman's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 15 May 2022 (2 days).
WESTAR LAD - hung outwards rounding the first bend losing ground. Held up final bend and early in the run home and lay inwards.
YANKEE JAY - held up by a weakening runner passing the 600 metres. Sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 500 metres.
APACHE WARRIOR - weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
PURE COURAGE - trainer K James was issued a warning for presenting the gelding with an anti choke device which had not been notified.
Race 5   TK PLASTERING 'YOUNG AT HEART' MOBILE PACE
AVEROSS RUSTLER - weakened on the final bend.
ALEXY - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a length of time. Weakened leaving the final bend.
BETTER FLY - raced wide early. Driver J Dunn defended a charge of Rule 868(3) alleging that he failed to drive his horse out to the finish of the race when having a reasonable chance of finishing 4th. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Dunn the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $400.
SHARDS FURY - raced wide early.
SONIC REIGN - paced roughly shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
Race 6   FAULKS INVESTMENTS TROT
SOUTH PARK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened final bend.
PAT THE MONKEY - weakened final bend.
ZSAHARA - over-raced middle stages.
NORDIC PRINCE - trotted roughly throughout. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DREAMSINTHE MIST - raced wide early.
Race 7   SPEIGHTS SUMMIT ULTRA MOBILE PACE
TANE J J - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room late in the run home.
FOLLOW ME FANTASY - hung inwards and struck several track markers racing into the first bend.
TALIESIN - paced roughly in the run home.
GYPSY - weakened on the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with connections in the coming days.
Race 8   FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE PACE
RAFA NOVAK - lay outwards near the 150 metres crowding GOSAKHI which had to be steadied.
CHANGEOVER JO - over-raced middle stages.
CHARLIE'S ACE - over-raced middle stages.
FULL OF DESIRE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Borcoskie. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
KANSAS CITY JIM - over-raced middle stages. Held up for clear racing room late in the run home.
GOSAKHI - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Cameron. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Crowded by RAFA NOVAK which lay outwards near the 150 metres and had to be steadied. Held up until late in the run home and hung inwards. Mr Cameron advised that the sliding blinds had failed to activate due to the cord breaking.
