Race 4 - TOTE BURGER, BEST BET FOR BURGERS MOBILE PACE
Trainer S McCaffrey advised Stewards on 14 April that SWIMINTHERIVER has recovered well and in his opinion the gelding had failed to back up from recent racing. He added that the gelding would be sent for a short spell before resuming.

Race 1   THE BOX SEAT MOBILE PACE
MR WONDERFUL - paced roughly leaving the back straight on the final occasion and then broke shifting outwards making heavy contact with the sulky of LETSGODANCING which was checked and unbalanced Driver R May near the 350 metres. COMEDY ACT and VOODOO PRINCE were also hampered in this incident. A final warning was placed on the entire's racing manners.
COMEDY ACT - hampered at the 350m. Paced roughly under pressure in the run home.
LETSGODANCING - lay in during the score up and was back from position at dispatch despite the efforts of Driver R May. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Checked near the 350 metres.
VOODOO PRINCE - raced roughly late in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Hampered near the 350m.
BARBAROSSA - Driver J Crawford was spoken to advisedly for using his whip on one occasion on the home turn with his foot free of the sulky footrest.
ABHISHEK - out of position at the start. Driver N Delany was issued with a warning.
Race 2   SENZ HANDICAP TROT
SIR HENRY CASTLETON - held up rounding the final bend.
THANK YOU - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
THE HULK - started from an incorrect unruly barrier position on 20m after Driver J Stormont was late in turning KELVINZ LUCK into position. Stewards were satisfied that Driver J Abernethy was not at fault. Stewards were also satisfied that neither horse started in advance of its correct barrier position and did not gain any advantage. Weakened rounding the final bend.
KELVINZ LUCK - Driver J Stormont admitted a breach under Rule 859(2) in that he allowed his horse to start from an incorrect unruly barrier position. After hearing submissions on Penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $400.
Race 3   HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE
NORVIC ROCKSTAR - weakened final turn.
TAKE THE MIKI - improved wide from the 750m and was held up in the early stages of the run home before laying inwards in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that the gelding had raced greenly and after attempting to improve at the 750m had been held up by tiring horses. Mr Butcher further advised that the gelding would derive benefit from the run in what was its first start.
FLETCH MAGUIRE - raced wide early before commencing to over-race near the 1700m and was taken forward to race outside the leader approaching the 1400m. Weakened final turn.
BORIS YELTSIN - lay inwards and struck pylons near the 1300m.
Race 4   IRT - YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION MOBILE PACE
HEZASHADOWPLAYA - held up final bend by a weakening runner.
RUN MASON RUN - commenced to give ground final bend.
CLAUDE - raced wide early then paced roughly approaching the 1700m. Shifted out under pressure in the run home and had to be corrected by Driver A Poutama.
SUPERSEDE - Driver B Butcher advised that he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
DALVEY ROBYN - over-raced score up.
CRUSADER - raced wide from the 600m.
Race 5   BARRETT HOMES HANDICAP PACE
THE SPORTSMAN - broke at the start. Held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home.
HESASHORETHING - reared as the start was effected and then broke losing ground before settling. Raced wide in the middle stages for a considerable distance before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1100m.
ROMEO SHARD - commenced to give ground from the 800m and was retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the early signs of a respiratory infection. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
BETTOR LISTEN - paced roughly near the 350m.
PULL THE OTHER LEG - lay outwards in the run home. Driver T Mitchell was warned for the continuous manner in which he used his whip in the run home.
M T POCKETS - broke through the barrier strand causing a false start. Breasted the tape at the restart. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
ROMEO SHARD - Trainer B Mangos advised Stewards on 29 April that further veterinary examinations had revealed a cyst in a nostril which had obstructed the gelding's airway when under race pressure. The cyst has since been removed and the horse will resume its preparation in a fortnight's time.
Race 6   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS FILLIES & MARES HANDICAP TROT
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - lay inwards round the final bend and struck markers.
AEONIAN - raced wide early stages.
ALANA - broke over the concluding stages.
JASINOVA - race wide early and middle stages.
SUPERFAST NINJA - lay inwards near the 700m and then shifted up the track before being retired from the event. When questioned Driver A Drake advised the horse had raced lethargically after hanging inwards near the 700m and that he elected to take the mare clear of the field for safety reasons. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
EMMA FROST - held up until late in the run home.
RUBY RIDGE - fractious prior to the start. Shifted inwards as the barriers were released and broke losing considerable ground. Held up final turn and throughout the run home.
PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL - broke near the 1300m losing ground.
Race 7   THE RACE BY GRINS ( MOBILE PACE )
STYLISH MEMPHIS - held up final bend.
ALTA ORLANDO - hung outwards and over-raced middle stages.
KRUG - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Raced wide from the 1100m.
SOUTH COAST ARDEN - raced wide early before being taken forward to race outside the leader near the 1400m.
SELF ASSURED - driver M Purdon admitted a breach of Rule 858(1)(i) in that he was out of position at the start. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. Driver M Purdon admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion over the concluding stages. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Purdon's licence to drive from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 5 May 2022 (7 days) also imposing a fine of $2500.
MAJESTIC CRUISER - raced wide with cover from the 1000m. Stewards enquired into the reasons Driver C Hart failed to activate the removable deafeners on the gelding. Driver C Hart advised that the cord had broken when he attempted to activate the deafeners in the run home. Stewards advised Mr Hart that in future he is to notify Stewards of any gear issues at the first available opportunity.
Race 8   BETAVET FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
DESTINY'S CHILD - paced roughly at various stages and stumbled near the 150m losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
ALLY MAE - subsequent to the meeting it was established that runners SKY DELIGHT and ALLY MAE had started from the incorrect barrier position. Stewards have opened and adjourned an enquiry into the matter.
SKY DELIGHT- Driver Z Butcher admitted a charge under Rule 859(2) in that he permitted his mare to start from an incorrect barrier position. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $350.
ALLY MAE - Driver L Hibell admitted a charge under Rule 859(2) in that she permitted her mare to start from an incorrect barrier position. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100.
Starter D Blakemore was reprimanded in relation to this matter.
