Race 1   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. HANDICAP TROT
ADITI - trainer G Smith admitted being late to present his runner on course and the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100. ADITI underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination after suffering a minor abrasion to its hip when being transported to the course. Began awkwardly and slow to begin.
MUZZ - trotted roughly and broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Weakened final bend.
MAJESTIC LOVE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
RACEY KRUSA - driver A Lethaby was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner in which she shifted out on the home bend briefly placing an outside runner in restricted room.
TIGHT N BRIGHT - broke near the 250 metres.
MISS MILLIE - broke near the 1400 metres losing ground.
BUTCHER KATE - trotted roughly for a short distance after the start and had to be restrained. Trotted roughly in the run home.
TI AMO BELLE - broke near the 1550 metres losing considerable ground.
GINAS MAJESTY - hampered by a breaking runner near the 250 metres.
MAKE MY SUNDON - broke near the 250 metres. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
RAINING IN MY HEART - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 2   NZB STANDARDBRED MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed one minute at the request of the TAB.
MAGICAL MILES - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver K Butt reported that the gelding had been racing without luck from poor barrier draws in recent starts and had been able to capitalise on a favourable draw today. Miss Butt added that due to this the connections were not surprised by the improved performance. Driver K Butt was issued a warning for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
PACIFIC CLIPPER - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
BLITZEM BROMAC - paced roughly at the start. Held up early in the run home.
U R THE ONE - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
VIOLET KNIGHT - paced roughly passing the 600 metres.
Race 3   JOHNNIE WALKER MOBILE TROT
CAPPAHA - broke near the 900 metres losing ground. Trotted roughly and broke again near the 350 metres losing all chance.
GRACIAS - weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. When spoken to regarding the colt's performance trainer M Edmonds reported he was very disappointed and could offer no explanation. He added it was his intention to have blood tests taken and Stewards will follow up the results.
EYRE I WILL - lay outwards near the 200 metres. Driver S Ottley reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 180 metres.
HIGH ENERGY - hung inwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. Lay inwards in early stages of the run home.
LOVE A PATRICK - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Raced wide early.
AROHA KENNY - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Raced wide early. Stewards questioned driver R May regarding the vigour displayed by him in the run home. Mr May explained that he was aware that the filly had been trotting roughly in recent trials and the horse had again done so today and hung inwards in the run home when attempting to shift wider on the track. Mr May added for these reasons he had been reluctant to place the filly under any significant pressure at the risk of the horse breaking. After considering the matter, Stewards accepted Mr May's comments.
MAXWELL EDISON - held up early in the run home and struck the sulky wheel of EYRE I WILL near the 180 metres. Stewards questioned driver R Close (MAXWELL EDISON) regarding this incident where it was established that HIGH ENERGY had lay inwards simultaneously to EYRE I WILL laying outwards as Mr Close had attempted to improve his runner between both horses. After considering the matter and reviewing the replays, Stewards accepted Mr Close's explanation and no further action was deemed necessary.
Trainer M Edmonds advised Stewards that GRACIAS has been treated for a virus since last racing.
Race 4   EAST WEST FENCING (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
EYECON - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer J Cox advised he had not been disappointed with the gelding's previous efforts adding the horse had been able to capitalise on a favourable run today from an inside draw.
JORDY - held up final bend and early in the run home.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - paced roughly throughout the run home.
MORRIES GIRL - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1200 metres. Weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Hope advised that despite having to race wide he was disappointed with the effort.
HEY TONIGHT - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
Race 5   ADVANCED JOINERY LTD HANDICAP PACE
KUSANOVA - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
TAXMAN - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home.
FULL OF DESIRE - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
THE CONQUEROR - broke briefly at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
POCKET CALL - over-raced passing the 1900 metres when being restrained to obtain cover.
ANYTHING GOES - broke at the start losing ground.
A CRACKER KNIGHT - over-raced middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Weakened final bend.
RADIOACTIVE JAFFA - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Thornley advised he was very disappointed and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Trainer R Kennedy advised Stewards on 20 April that RADIOACTIVE JAFFA has been treated for a foot abscess and will be sent for a short spell before resuming.
Race 6   COMMODORE HOTEL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
FLYAWAY - hung outwards and paced roughly shortly after the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 300 metres.
IDEAL GRACE - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 300 metres losing ground.
MACY BLACK - driver M Edmonds admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Edmonds' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on today up to and including 24 April 2022 (4 days).
HANOI FRANCO - raced wide early. Hung inwards and paced roughly in the early and middle stages causing driver C Thornley considerable difficulty before being restrained to the rear of the field. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 700 metres. Again hung inwards and weakened final bend. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
LIZZIE RICHTER - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 700 metres after over-racing losing all chance and hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MOSSDALE MAY - co-trainers G & N Hope were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare without the notified blinds which were fitted prior to the start.
TREASURE TRAIL - trainer T Bagrie was issued a warning for being late to notify the filly would be racing with a Pacifier. Paced roughly in the score up and was back from its unruly position at the start.
SHEZA MANIPULATOR - Trainer M Edmonds advised Stewards on 26 April that the horse has been treated for a respiratory infection since last racing.
Race 7   STORER MOTORS MOBILE PACE
DALNESS ARIZONA - weakened final bend.
REAL MEN WEAR PINK - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
GET BACK - raced wide without cover from the 900 metres. Weakened final bend.
THE OPTIMIST - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
WILL HE ROCK - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay inwards in the run home.
GLENGARRY MOONLIGHT - late scratching at 12.30pm on Veterinary advice.
MATTHEW EYRE- refused to score up behind the mobile despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly losing all chance. Stewards declared the gelding a non-runner acting under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners at the start. Stood down to complete one satisfactory mobile trial prior to resuming.
Race 8   FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE TROT
READY I AM - over-raced early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Contacted the sulky wheel of GLOBAL FLIGHT racing into the first bend despite the efforts of driver P Wakelin. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
GLOBAL FLIGHT - driver S Tomlinson reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre racing into the first bend.
MADELEINE STOWE - driver P Davis was warned for allowing his mare to race inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane.
CALL THIS FUN - broke near the 400 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SILVERLININGS - trotted roughly in the run home and had to be steadied on several occasions.
KOWHAI SUNDOWN - broke near the 200 metres.
OUR PEGASUS PEARL - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
