Race 1   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY HANDICAP TROT
CON GRAZIA LOVE - lay outwards in the run home.
DIAMANT BLEU - swung outwards at the start then broke losing all chance.
LORD POPINJAY - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Weakened final bend.
QUIK BARBIE - the connections advised the filly had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
AMERICAN MUSCLE - broke at the start losing ground. Driver M Wallis was warned for using her whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed that the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
ALDEBARAN KEEPA - broke at the start then broke again near the 1750 metres losing all chance.
ALDEBARAN FLAME - broke near the 300 metres. Hung inwards and struck track markers leaving the final bend. Broke again near the 150 metres. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
Trainer D Mann advised Stewards on 21 April that subsequent to LORD POPINJAY's last start a veterinary examination revealed a slight respiratory infection which has since been treated. Mr Mann added that the gelding would now be freshened prior to resuming.
Race 2   DUNSTAN RECOVERY MASH MOBILE PACE
FOUR KISSES - over-raced middle stages.
MEETMEINSORRENTO - paced roughly in the run home.
FERNLEIGH CASH - lay inwards leaving the final bend and had to be corrected by driver B Butcher.
Race 3   BELL SCAFFOLDING MOBILE PACE
SYLVIA KAY - over-raced middle stages. Struck and raced inside several track markers when racing in restricted room near the 100 metres. Driver L Hollis was issued with a warning for attempting to improve his position when insufficient room existed.
ARGYLE - struck track markers rounding the first bend after being crowded by an outside runner.
TUGAWAR - paced roughly shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner. Again paced roughly near the 1400 metres. Over-raced middle stages.
FALCONS WATCH - lay inwards in the run home.
JONO B - driver J Abernethy will be spoken to in the coming days regarding crowding an inside runner rounding the first bend when attempting to shift ground inwards.
UPSIZE ME - hung outwards and broke near the 1800 metres losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Treated for a laceration to the right front heel by the veterinarian following the race.
OHOKA CREED - held up final bend and early in the run home.
DREAM PROSPECT - driver M Purdon was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MIDFREW LUCRE - hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide early.
Race 4   METALCRAFT ROOFING TROT
SAFRAKOVA - junior driver N Delany (assisted by A Poutama) admitted using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing on 14 April up to and including 29 April 2022 (3 days).
ELLARIA SAND - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Driver M McKendry was warned for starting wider on the track than his allocated position on the unruly.
ASTERIA LAVRA - broke passing the 150 metres. Driver L Hollis was spoken to advisedly for using his whip outside the sulky confines near the 250 metres.
FLYING SCOTSMAN - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 1800 metres and continued on in a break for a considerable distance despite the efforts of driver A Poutama losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
AEONIAN - over-raced middle stages. Trotted roughly near the 600 metres and had to be steadied. Again trotted roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out.
PRINCE ENVY - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly final bend and in the run home.
Race 5   AUCKLAND CUP NIGHT MAY 27 BOOK NOW MOBILE PACE
EXECUTIVE BANNER - held up final bend and until late in the run home. Driver P Ferguson defended a charge alleging he drove carelessly near the 100 metres when shifting ground inwards causing interference to BET ON THE TIGER (Z Butcher). After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from drivers P Ferguson, Z Butcher and Stewards the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $400.
KATIES PRINCESS - raced greenly through the middle stages. Hung inwards near the 900 metres and raced inside track markers despite the efforts of driver N Chilcott and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Ms Chilcott reported the filly had locked on one rein after resenting the boring pole and she would be making gear changes to the horse prior to resuming.
BET ON THE TIGER - lay inwards and paced roughly final bend. Paced roughly near the 100 metres after being checked by an outside runner. Driver Z Butcher was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 6   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PUKEKOHE HANDICAP TROT
MOLLY BELLE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1250 metres.
MY ROYAL ROXY - broke near the 1250 metres losing considerable ground. Weakened final bend.
ISLA ELSIE - tangled away.
IN SEQUENCE - began awkwardly. Trotted roughly in the run home.
EMMA FROST - broke rounding the first bend losing all chance.
REGAL ATTIRE - slow to begin. Held up until late in the run home.
INVICTUS - junior driver C Hackett will be spoken to for allowing the gelding to start wider than barrier one off 45 metres.
Race 7   DUNSTAN SPEEDFEED MOBILE PACE
RIVERMAN SAM - paced roughly racing into the first bend and had to be steadied. Weakened final bend.
ROMEO SHARD - hung inwards rounding the first bend striking several track markers. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.
OUTLAW MAN - over-raced middle stages. Lay inwards throughout the run home.
Race 8   EARLY NOMS AUCKLAND & ROWE CUP CLOSE 6 MAY MOBILE TROT
ITAINTNECESSARILYSO - hampered near the 1600 metres.
BRIENNE - trotted roughly passing the 1600 metres then broke hampering trailing runners. Broke again near the 600 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Driver J Abernethy reported that the mare had cast both front shoes during the running.
CYCLONE LEBRON - hampered near the 1600 metres. Held up final bend.
SLIPPERY MISTRESS - raced wide early stages. Hampered near the 1600 metres. Weakened final bend.
