Race 1   WELCOME BACK TO THE RANGIORA HRC AMATEUR MOBILE PACE
JORDY - unsuccessfully contested for the lead mid race.
DISMARA - over-raced early. Driver S Blake was warned for using her whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
SHARDS FURY - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field.
MARK DUNNETT - over-raced early when being restrained.
Race 2   FIVE PEAKS BREW CO KAIAPOI TROT
RACEY KRUSA - over-raced middle stages when racing outside the leader.
BUTCHER KATE - broke briefly passing the 2000 metres. Broke again near the 1600 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
BENNIE AND THE JETS - shifted out under pressure early in the run home.
PHOEBE K - over-raced early when being restrained to the rear of the field. Lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1500 metres which was dislodged. Broke near the 1100 metres losing all chance.
NAZARETH - trotted roughly early in the run home after Driver J Dunn had activated the removable deafeners. When spoken to regarding the performance Mr Dunn reported the gelding had been hanging throughout and he would be recommending gear changes prior to resuming.
SHEZA MIGHTY MONARCH - trotted roughly and lost contact with the body of the field through the middle stages.
THE BEAT - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
Trainer G Smith advised Stewards on 8 April that THE BEAT has been treated for a virus since last racing.
Race 3   COUNTRY FEASTS CATERING AT RANGIORA MOBILE PACE
MOSSDALE MAY - held up early in the run home.
KADALA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver S Thornley. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners. Retired from the race near the 1600 metres after failing to quicken despite the continued efforts of Mr Thornley. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
HANOI FRANCO - hung inwards throughout causing Driver C Thornley some difficulty. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners. Weakened final turn.
Race 4   NORTH CANTERBURY TROTTING MOBILE PACE
SARGENT BEST - Driver R May admitted a breach of Rule 869(7A)(b) in that he allowed his gelding to shift inwards and race inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
HEY TONIGHT - paced roughly near the 700 metres and had to be steadied. Shifted in under pressure in the run home.
OH NO NANA - held up leaving the final turn.
LUSTRE AMOUR - weakened final turn.
HUTASA - paced roughly for a short distance near the 150 metres after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of OH NO NANA.
Race 5   THANK YOU NANCY LEY PACE
REFORMED - held up by a weakening runner final turn.
GRINNING AGAIN - lay in near the 500 metres when attempting to improve out to a three wide position hampering an inside runner.
A CRACKER KNIGHT - broke after 150 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
BETTORLINI - broke at the start losing ground. Lay inwards when held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
BUENA VISTA - raced over several track markers when weakening on the final turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
GANA - held up by a weakening runner final turn.
KENNEDY - held up by a weakening runner final turn.
ITZ TO THE MACS - held up by a weakening runner final turn.
DAISY DUKE - hampered briefly near the 500 metres.
WATCHING OUR COIN - lay inwards and paced roughly after 150 metres.
Race 6   TUAHIWI FILLIES & MARES MOBILE TROT
SOUTH PARK - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of the mare.
Race 7   KOTARE DOWNS RANGIORA 3YO STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
JAVASA - weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the filly in the coming days.
TREMENDOUS LOVER - over-raced middle stages.
SUNTAN - over-raced middle stages.
VAN SHARD - briefly crowded near the 150 metres.
MATT MAJOR - lay inwards throughout the run home and briefly crowded an inside runner near the 150 metres.
Trainer D Keast advised Stewards on 14 April that JAVASA has recovered well after last racing and is continuing with its current preparation.
Race 8   KAIAPOI JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
ROCKNROLL DIVA - held up final turn and until late in the run home.
MATTHEW EYRE - Driver C Dalgety was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on the final turn.
OLIVE COOK - a side hopple carrier strap came adrift during the running with Co-trainers P & M Robertson deemed not to be at fault after the gear had been sufficiently taped.
STAC - raced wide early.
BOARDING CALL - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver K Tomlinson. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Raced wide from the 1100 metres.
ART COURAGE - over-raced middle stages and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of MILS MCARDLE after a slight easing of the pace near the 1300 metres. Held up late in the run home.
Race 9   RANGIORA COMMITTEE & STEWARDS MOBILE PACE
PENNETTA - over-raced middle stages.
JOURNO - Driver D van Til reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
ELO LOUISE - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field. Paced roughly near the 850 metres and had to be steadied losing ground. When questioned regarding the performance Driver K Cameron advised he was not disappointed with the effort after getting too far back in the running and had been unable to make ground due to the tempo of the race.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - weakened final turn.
SHEEZAGOLDENGIRL - when questioned regarding the performance Driver S Thornley advised that in his opinion the mare had not backed up from its start at Oamaru last weekend and it was the stable's intention to send the mare for a spell.
CHANGEOVER JO - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by a weakening runner final turn.
Race 10   BETAVET/RANGIORA EQUESTRIAN SUPPLIES TROT
GAYTANA - hampered after 150 metres.
SUNNY SON - broke after 150 metres and kicked out on several occasions with the gelding getting its hind leg over the inside sulky shaft with Driver S Iremonger being dislodged from the sulky and was retired from the race. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming. Mr Iremonger was examined by St John personnel and cleared of any injury. A post-race veterinary examination of SUNNY SON revealed some minor abrasions to the gelding's hind leg.
DREAMSINTHE MIST - Trainer G Ward advised Stewards that the gelding has had its hocks treated since last racing.
KOHLI TROUBLE - raced wide early. Broke near the 100 metres and continued on in a break over the finish line. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
BILL - broke after 100 metres losing all chance and was retired from the race.
MERLOT - checked and broke after 150 metres losing considerable ground.
WYNBERG WATCH - checked and broke after 150 metres losing ground. Lay inwards near the 100 metres and contacted a track marker.
Race 11   RANGIORA HRC RACING 1ST, 8TH & 22ND MAY MOBILE PACE
SISTER'S DELIGHT - hampered near the 100 metres.
SCOTLYNN BEACH BOY - raced wide early.
REAL MEN WEAR PINK - hampered near the 100 metres.
KINGSDOWN ATOM - held up final turn and early in the run home. Driver R May was warned for the manner in which he shifted ground near the 100 metres hampering inside runners.
AJIRA - weakened final turn. Crowded near the 100 metres by an outside runner and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding the performance Driver C Dalgety could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
THE OPTIMIST - hampered near the 100 metres and struck track markers.
BIG MAMA MORRIS - held up leaving the final turn.
Stable representative C Dalgety advised Stewards on 14 April that AJIRA was given a brief spell after last racing and is now continuing with its preparation.
