THE BEAT - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Over-raced passing the 800 metres. Trotted roughly at various stages throughout.

LA MOTH - held up early in the run home. Driver A Milne was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
KALI B - crowded after 150 metres and had to be steadied. Held up late in the run home.
SWEET AND SOUR - checked and broke after 150 metres losing all chance and was retired from the race.
SEAPRIS - junior driver B Hope (assisted by J Dunn) admitted driving carelessly when shifting ground after 150 metres when insufficiently clear of SWEET AND SOUR which was checked and forced inwards onto KALI B with the trailing JUSTIN FUN also being checked. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hope's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 6 March 2022 (3 days).
BEAUTIFILLY - paced roughly early. Shifted outwards passing the 1200 metres forcing JUSTIN FUN wider on the track. Stewards questioned driver S Ottley regarding this incident who advised that the mare had commenced to race fiercely when a runner improved to her outside causing her considerable difficulty so she elected to shift out for safety reasons. After considering Miss Ottley's explanation which was verified on the replays, Stewards took the matter no further other than to place a warning on the mare's racing record. Continued to over-race middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
STRAIGHT FLUSH - hung inwards when improving through the middle stages.
FOLLOW ME FANTASY - over-raced middle stages.
FERNZ GOLDY - paced roughly shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
JUSTIN FUN - checked and broke briefly after 150 metres. Forced wider on the track near the 1200 metres. Weakened near the 400 metres.
Race 4   EQUINE VET SERVICES/BLUFF PROTEINS LTD MOBILE PACE
LITTLE GEE - over-raced middle stages.
MAGIC SIGN - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation and was disappointed with the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
HONOUR SCROLL - briefly held up middle stages of the run home.
ESSENCE OF EASTON - held up middle stages of the run home.
Trainer G Court advised Stewards on 18 March that MAGIC SIGN has been gelded since last racing and will continue with its current preparation
Race 5   WASTECO NZ LTD MOBILE PACE
PRODIGAL SON - weakened from the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BETTORS ATOM - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer M Horton advised that the mare was unsuited to drawing wide at its last start and had been unable to make ground due to the fast closing sectionals of the race after having to race towards the rear of the field. Mrs Horton added that the mare had been working well and was not surprised by the performance. Junior driver M Hurrell (assisted by C Ferguson) admitted using his whip in an excessive and continuous manner in the run home and after hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 3 March 2022 (2 days).
STELLA'S DELIGHT - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised that the mare had been unsuited to working hard during the running to obtain a forward position however he was still disappointed with the effort.
MAXIMILIAN - raced wide early.
PETE'S DASH - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
CHANGEOVER JO - driver N Burton advised he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
RAFA NOVAK - held up early in the run home.
GET IT ON - raced wide early.
Race 6   GOLDEN FLEECE HOTEL WAIKOUAITI TROTTING CUP (HCP TROT)
DOMINATION'S CALL - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke near the 2000 metres losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Weakened near the 400 metres. Trainer C Buchan advised that he would give consideration to sending the gelding for a spell.
LAURIES LEGACY - broke near the 60 metres and continued on in a break over the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing for breaking in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and LAURIES LEGACY was disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee.
Race 7   CUSTOM FENCING/LLENNOCO LTD MOBILE PACE
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - driver K Tomlinson was warned for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
EYECON - weakened passing the 500 metres.
LOU'S DEAL - lay inwards leaving the final bend and had to be corrected. Continued to lay inwards throughout the run home.
SHE'S GOT STYLE - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
INSARCHATWIST - broke in the score up however was able to be in position at the start. Broke again near the 1600 metres after racing over the crossing losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
TWICE SHY - lay in at various stages throughout the running. When questioned regarding the performance driver S O'Reilly was unable to provide any explanation and was disappointed with the performance. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MIGHTY FLYING ROCKER - when questioned regarding the performance driver K Newman advised he had got too far back in the running and had been unable to improve his position due to the fast tempo.
REFINE - lay inwards in the run home.
Co-trainer G Dunn advised Stewards on 17 March that TWICE SHY has been sent for a spell after disappointing at its last start.
Race 8   G K FYFE LTD 'WE MAKE IT HAPPEN' HANDICAP TROT
There was a delay to the start when MAJESTIC ROSE and HANOVER DA MOON were fractious and then a false start was declared after the front barrier strand failed to release correctly.
CODY BANNER - broke near the 1600 metres checking trailing runners and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - held up until late in the run home.
JESPER FAST - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room late in the run home.
RUBY SEDDON - trotted roughly early stages. Again trotted roughly in the run home.

PIECE OF GOLD - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer M McIntyre advised that at its prior start the gelding had broken after over-reacting to the barrier strand being released and today was able to take advantage of an economical run throughout.
VINTAGE ROSE - broke at the start. Paced roughly near the 1000 metres and had to be steadied. Raced wide without cover from the 900 metres. Hung inwards and broke near the 150 metres when being shifted wider on the track hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SOMEDREAMSOMEWHERE - held up middle stages of the run home.
CARRERA BELLE - over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
