HES SANTAS EXCUSE - driver C Lee admitted a charge of using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the home straight. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200. | |
VIBURNUM - broke after 100 metres losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. | |
MAXWELL ROBYN - driver A Milne was reminded of his obligations to keep both hands on the reins when urging his runner with the whip. | |
JACCKA CONNOR - lay outwards in the run home and shifted up the track. | |

Driver E Swain was warned for his lack of control when releasing the removable deafeners near the 800 metres resulting in the mare shifting wider on the track. | |
BIRCH - checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke near the 250 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. | |
ACTION PACKED - broke at the start losing ground. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the Stewards satisfaction from a standing start prior to resuming. Broke again near the 200 metres. Driver K Franks was warned for using his whip free of the rein near the 400 metres. | |
GENTLE MAC - fractious prior to the start being back from its Unruly position at the dispatch after turning away. Broke at the start. Checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke again near the 600 metres losing all chance. The All Clear was delayed until the Stewards had the opportunity to view films of the start to determine whether this gelding had been denied a fair start when facing sideways as the barrier strand was released. It was established that GENTLE MAC had refused to turn into line to address the barrier despite the efforts of driver T Robertson and was subsequently declared a non-runner due to unsatisfactory barrier manners. Stood down to trial from a standing start on one occasion to the Stewards satisfaction prior to resuming. | |
REGAL GLIDE - checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke near the 400 metres. | |
PRESIDENT PAT - trotted roughly in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages. Again trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be driven out. | |
FATHER ON DOWN - the All Clear was delayed until the Stewards had the opportunity to view films of the start to determine whether this gelding had started from the correct barrier position when drawn Unruly. It was established that FATHER ON DOWN had charged forward on several occasions and was unable to be restrained despite the efforts of driver R McIlwrick with the horse starting in advance of its correct barrier position. Stewards lodged a protest pursuant to Rule 859(3) with the gelding subsequently disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee and was declared a non-runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Returned to the stabling enclosure with blood present on a hind leg. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a small laceration to a fetlock. |

Had to be restrained by driver J Douglas near the 1750 metres after a slight easing of the pace and made contact with the sulky wheel of DOCTOR TIM when that runner shifted outwards ahead of BLACK OPS and failed to progress forward despite the efforts of its driver. Stewards could not apportion any blame to Mr Douglas and therefore took the matter no further. Weakened leaving the final bend. | |
AIRWAVES - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke briefly at the start. | |

DOCTOR TIM - shifted outwards near the 1750 metres however was reluctant to progress forward despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly which resulted in a slight easing of the pace. Miss O'Reilly reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre in this incident. | |
WARLOCH - weakened on the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible excuse. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some nasal discharge. Stewards will follow up with trainer M House in the coming days. |

DONALD TRUMP - broke late in the run home and continued in a break over the finish line. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. | |

ONE TWO MENNY - over-raced on various occasions during the running. Broke passing the 2000 metres. Became awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of WILLANGUS LAD when over-racing passing the 1850 metres. Shifted outwards in the run home despite the efforts of driver K Larsen. | |
