Race 1   FISKEN CONTRACTING MOBILE PACE
THE JAFA EXPRESS - paced roughly leaving the final bend and again over the concluding stages.
HES SANTAS EXCUSE - driver C Lee admitted a charge of using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the home straight. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
VIBURNUM - broke after 100 metres losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAXWELL ROBYN - driver A Milne was reminded of his obligations to keep both hands on the reins when urging his runner with the whip.
JACCKA CONNOR - lay outwards in the run home and shifted up the track.
GENTILLE ALOUETTE - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
SIR LANCELOT - paced roughly early. Weakened on the final bend.
Race 2   ABERNETHY CONTRACTING / HOKONUI SUZUKI TROT
THE POWER BROKER - connections advised this mare has had its hocks treated since last racing.
PHOEBE AMORE - broke racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Driver E Swain was warned for his lack of control when releasing the removable deafeners near the 800 metres resulting in the mare shifting wider on the track.
BIRCH - checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke near the 250 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
ACTION PACKED - broke at the start losing ground. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the Stewards satisfaction from a standing start prior to resuming. Broke again near the 200 metres. Driver K Franks was warned for using his whip free of the rein near the 400 metres.
GENTLE MAC - fractious prior to the start being back from its Unruly position at the dispatch after turning away. Broke at the start. Checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke again near the 600 metres losing all chance. The All Clear was delayed until the Stewards had the opportunity to view films of the start to determine whether this gelding had been denied a fair start when facing sideways as the barrier strand was released. It was established that GENTLE MAC had refused to turn into line to address the barrier despite the efforts of driver T Robertson and was subsequently declared a non-runner due to unsatisfactory barrier manners. Stood down to trial from a standing start on one occasion to the Stewards satisfaction prior to resuming.
REGAL GLIDE - checked by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Broke near the 400 metres.
PRESIDENT PAT - trotted roughly in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages. Again trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be driven out.
FATHER ON DOWN - the All Clear was delayed until the Stewards had the opportunity to view films of the start to determine whether this gelding had started from the correct barrier position when drawn Unruly. It was established that FATHER ON DOWN had charged forward on several occasions and was unable to be restrained despite the efforts of driver R McIlwrick with the horse starting in advance of its correct barrier position. Stewards lodged a protest pursuant to Rule 859(3) with the gelding subsequently disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee and was declared a non-runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Returned to the stabling enclosure with blood present on a hind leg. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a small laceration to a fetlock.
Race 3   STEELE FAMILY FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
ONE HOPEFUL DREAM - briefly placed in restricted room in the middle stages of the run home.
LA MOTH - raced wide early. Lay inwards in the middle stages of the run home when under pressure placing an inside runner in restricted room.
FOXY ROBYN - broke in the score-up losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
NETHERTON FRANCO - held up early in the run home.
MATAI CHARLOTTE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until late in the run home.
Race 4   FOUR SQUARE TAPANUI / DWAINS SERVICE CENTRE MOBILE PACE
NGAROMA - broke racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres losing all chance.
PHIL'S LAST CHANCE - raced wide early.
STILL ROCKIN - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Raced four wide from the 600 metres. Returned to the birdcage enclosure with blood present on the wither. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a superficial laceration to the wither area.
Race 5   TRANSPORT REPAIRS LIMITED TROT
JACCKA JAKE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 450 metres. Held up leaving the final bend and early in the run home.
DENN NEE'S SISTER - broke at the start losing ground.
SVELT - charged the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver S Tomlinson causing a delay. Sent to the Unruly position by the starter where the mare will remain for future standing starts.
FAST WHISPERING - junior driver S O'Reilly reported she did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
EILISH HALL - broke after 100 metres losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PORT PEGASUS - broke near the 450 metres.
AFTERBURNER - broke at the start losing ground. Held up leaving the final bend.
WESTLAND PEAK - trotted roughly in the run home and had to be steadied.
DANANGUS FELLA - tangled away.
Race 6   GORE NIGHT N' DAY / FOOD AFFAIR MOBILE PACE
THE NIGHT WATCHMAN - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - driver M Williamson was spoken to advisedly for loose reining in the run home.
ARLO MAGUIRE - driver B Orange was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
LOU'S DEAL - raced wide early.
I'M WATCHING YOU - held up early in the run home.
Race 7   ROBYN'S TREASURE FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
CHANGEOVER JO - briefly locked sulky stays with CARRERA BELLE near the 50 metres.
ELLZ ANGEL - lay inwards throughout the run home.
EMMA'S GIRL - raced wide early. Held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
CARRERA BELLE - paced roughly as the start was effected. Held up through the early and middle stages of the run home. Briefly locked sulky stays with CHANGEOVER JO near the 50 metres.
COOL IDEA - broke racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres losing all chance.
Race 8   AON INSURANCE MOBILE PACE
TIMZEE - held up early in the run home.
MACH QUILLAN - over-raced on various occasions during the running. Held up early in the run home.
IDEAL ROBYN - lay inwards throughout the run home. Cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 9   GORE TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB SUMMER CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
BLACK OPS - broke at the start. Had to be restrained by driver J Douglas near the 1750 metres after a slight easing of the pace and made contact with the sulky wheel of DOCTOR TIM when that runner shifted outwards ahead of BLACK OPS and failed to progress forward despite the efforts of its driver. Stewards could not apportion any blame to Mr Douglas and therefore took the matter no further. Weakened leaving the final bend.
AIRWAVES - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke briefly at the start.
MACH'S BACK - paced roughly leaving the final bend.
TOMMY WATERHOUSE - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts.
DOCTOR TIM - shifted outwards near the 1750 metres however was reluctant to progress forward despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly which resulted in a slight easing of the pace. Miss O'Reilly reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre in this incident.
WARLOCH - weakened on the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible excuse. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some nasal discharge. Stewards will follow up with trainer M House in the coming days.
Race 10   NORTHERN SOUTHLAND VETS HANDICAP TROT
WINNING BONES - broke briefly racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres.
DONALD TRUMP - broke late in the run home and continued in a break over the finish line. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres losing all chance.
ONE TWO MENNY - over-raced on various occasions during the running. Broke passing the 2000 metres. Became awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of WILLANGUS LAD when over-racing passing the 1850 metres. Shifted outwards in the run home despite the efforts of driver K Larsen.
MISS CRAZED - when asked to comment on the disappointing performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Race 11   PETERS GENETICS MOBILE PACE
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - lay outwards in the run home. Junior driver T Larsen reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds or release the removable deafeners due to the gelding hanging outwards.
CAST A SHADOW - broke racing over the crossing near the 1500 metres and shifted inwards abruptly hampering several runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
HURRICANE BANNER - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres.
R K FINN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres.
SMOKIN ANNIE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres.
