STORMS ACOMING - shifted out under pressure in the run home.
PETRONELLI GEE - trotted roughly in the run home.
MOCCA FRANCY - raced keenly through the middle stages. Trotted roughly in the run home.
PALISADE - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
LEESA CASTLETON - broke entering the first bend and settled towards the rear.
BREAK FREE - trotted roughly in the early stages of the run home and had to be steadied.
Race 2   THE COBB MOBILE PACE
AURELIA COTTA - junior driver M Johnson (assisted by J Abernethy) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $350.
ROCKNROYDON - lay out rounding the final bend and paced roughly.
I WON'T BACK DOWN - lay outwards in the run home.
CONSTANCE CLAIRE - raced wide in the early stages.
STILL TRYING - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained towards the rear.

REDBACK ROCKS - weakened final bend and contacted marker pegs when racing in restricted room to the inside of ARTFUL LIVING.

RACEY RACH - Driver J Abernethy admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home and was fined $200 by the Adjudicative Committee.
BIG SKEWY - raced wide in the early stages.
ARTFUL LIVING - lay in passing the 1150 metres striking several track markers. Continued to lay in final bend and in the run home.
PENNYS FIRST FLIGHT - paced roughly and broke passing the 850 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
Race 4   WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
BEAUDIENE BRITTANIE - broke in the score up losing considerable ground and was back at the start when unable to fill its position. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Weakened final bend.
CARRERA LUCIA - paced roughly middle stages and in particular near the 500 metres when giving ground. Driver B Orange advised that the mare had not travelled well at any stage and he had been disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with the connections prior to the second day.
UNCHANGED MEMORY - raced wide early and middle stages before laying in and then breaking near the 1300 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
IMMER BESSER - when questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the mare had appreciated a drop in class from recent racing and had capitalised on a favourable run throughout.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR - Driver A Poutama was cautioned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
CRIMSON RAIN - weakened final bend.
MELODY'S MISCHIEF - hampered by a weakening runner near the 450 metres.
CALL SECURITY - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
Starter G Phillips was spoken to regarding the speed of the mobile in the score-up.
Race 5   MANAWATU ITM MOBILE PACE
PIIKI WHARA - unable to hold the leaders back near the 1500 metres which enabled BETSTARS BLUE JEAN to shift down to fill that position. Held up early stages of the run home.
MANHATTAN SUNSHINE - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama advised that the mare had over-raced throughout and had proved disappointing when asked for an effort.
BETSTARS BLUE JEAN - raced wide early stages. Held up behind a weakening runner final bend.
BOULTON HOME - raced wide early stages before being restrained to the rear. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Orange could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with the connections prior to the second day.
ARCHAIC LUSTRE - over-raced early stages when wide on the track.
DRAMATIST - weakened in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
Race 6   SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE MOBILE PACE
UNCLE DREW - held up by a weakening runner final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
ACESANDKINGS - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
BENDER - raced keenly through the middle stages.
PAY ME VISA - Trainer A Stuart was cautioned for presenting the gelding to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified. Held up leaving the final bend.
CLYMENUS - raced greenly and paced roughly final bend and had to be steadied.
Race 7   RACING AGAIN THURSDAY FIRST RACE 5.19 PM MOBILE PACE
CARSE O FERN TOM - weakened final bend.
MAHIA - gave ground passing the 1200 metres and was retired from the race. Returned to the stabling enclosure with blood present in both nostrils. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the gelding had bled. Stood down for the mandatory period of 30 days with connections advised a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to a satisfactory trial would be required before the gelding resumes racing.
BODRUM BOY - paced roughly and broke late in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
