Race 1   PHILLIPS HORSE TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
MARSHMELLOW MILLIE - driver J Morrison reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
LONE WOLF - paced roughly leaving the final bend and in the run home. Trainer/driver T McMillan advised that the colt had paced roughly at various stages throughout and he was unable to apply any pressure due to this.
HILLBILLY GIRL - weakened final bend.
Race 2   TK HIRE TROT
SPEEDING SPIRIT - broke after 100 metres losing considerable ground. Broke again passing the 750 metres losing all chance.
BARRYTOWN - broke racing into the first bend. Broke again near the 500 metres losing all chance.

NOTASBADASILOOK - trainer W Stapleton was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare to race with a pacifier which had not been notified. Broke at the start losing considerable ground.
BACARDI PRIDE - broke shortly after the start before switching to a pace having to be restrained and losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 3   OTAGO EQUINE HOSPITAL PACE
FOLLOW ME FANTASY - sustained a punctured sulky tyre on the final bend.
TYKE - held up rounding the final bend. Driver K Butt was questioned regarding the tactics she adopted near the 600 metres when electing to shift inwards from a position in the one out line to race four back on the marker line. Miss Butt explained that her mare had been under pressure through the back straight on the final occasion and was aware that the parked FORTY WIVES had commenced to weaken approaching the 600 metres. Miss Butt added that due to this she felt her best option was to save ground and race closer to the marker line rather than having to improve very wide on the final bend. After considering her explanation, Stewards were satisfied that her tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
YOU CAN FLY ARDEN - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened from the 900 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley reported the mare had felt lethargic throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
LUNAR LEGEND - late scratching at 9.10am on veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
FORTY WIVES - weakened near the 600 metres.
SWEET AND SOUR - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Junior driver K Tomlinson (assisted by B Williamson) admitted driving carelessly on the final bend when she shifted ground and struck the sulky wheel of FOLLOW ME FANTASY which punctured. After viewing the films and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Tomlinson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 18 February 2022 (3 days).
ADHIKA - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 4   DAVID OVENS BUILDING MOBILE PACE
DELIGHTFUL GLORIA - held up final bend.
KYRAN - lay out near the 600 metres and paced roughly on the final bend losing ground.
REFINE - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver B Hope advised that the mare had been working well and had benefited from some alterations to its gear and training regime. He added that with the early speed of today's race he was not surprised with the effort.
IDEAL DANCE - paced roughly final bend and in the run home when weakening. When spoken to regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the gelding had to do too much work in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
POCKET CALL - weakened near the 600 metres.
SHANIKA - raced wide on the track passing the 1500 metres. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule and it was established that FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ had moved outwards prior to SHANIKA reaching its sulky wheel and therefore took the matter no further. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B White advised the mare had appreciated a change of environment in a smaller stable and had been freshened prior to trialling well.
Race 5   PLUNKET ELECTRICAL HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared when the 15 metres barrier strand failed to clear the field.
MICKEY JAY - broke near the 800 metres hampering a trailing runner.
SAMANTHAS MOON - over-raced middle stages. Trotted roughly late in the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B White advised the mare has shown natural improvement since returning from a spell and had been held up throughout the run home at its last start.
SKY HIGH FLYER - weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of muscle tie up. Stewards will follow up with trainer B Mowbray in the coming days.

HANOVER DA MOON - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800 metres.
STEEL DUST - broke near the 500 metres and then trotted roughly thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RED HARBOUR - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer K James advised the gelding races well on this course and had over-raced and broken at its last start from a mobile. He added that he had changed the horse's bit in training which had helped to relax the horse which had added to the improved performance today.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke at the start losing all chance.
Race 6   PLACEMAKERS MOBILE PACE
MIGHTY REACTOR - the connections advised the gelding has had its knees injected since last racing. Broke briefly rounding the first bend and again near the 1100 metres. Paced roughly on various occasions during the running and over the concluding stages. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
TAXMAN - weakened final bend.
MAYBE - when questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised they had not been overly disappointed with its last start when considering the fast closing sectionals of the race and the gelding had thrived with a recent change in training regime.
