Race Comments

Race 1   J D SOUNESS LTD MOBILE TROT
SON OF MAJESTIC - weakened on the final bend. Trotted roughly in the run home with driver B McLellan reporting he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
NIGHT WATCH - Stewards questioned driver B Williamson regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the final stages. Mr Williamson explained the filly was flat from the 700 metres, he had released the removable deafeners near the 550 metres and the horse had come to the end of its run once entering the final straight. Mr Williamson added he was reluctant to apply pressure to the filly due to it trotting roughly over the concluding stages in its previous start. Stewards accepted Mr Williamson's comments on this occasion however advised him to ensure he does not drive in future in a manner which leaves him open to query.
BIRCH - broke near the 600 metres losing ground.
Trainer A Wohlers advised on 9th February that THE POWER BROKER has had its hocks injected since last racing.
Race 2   CALDWELL CONTRACTING LTD MOBILE PACE
REBECCA DALE - over-raced from the 1200 metres. Paced roughly in the run home.
SONNY MAGUIRE - lay inwards early in the home straight having to be corrected by driver B Williamson.
DURRANT - shifted out leaving the final bend briefly crowding outside runners which had lay inwards.
YOU SAID IT - broke early in the score-up however recovered to be in position at the start. Lay inwards leaving the final bend and was then placed in tight quarters when an inside runner shifted out.
RIGHTAZZ - lay inwards leaving the final bend and had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of YOU SAID IT.
Race 3   GRANT CHAMBERLAIN BUILDER LTD LADYSHIP FINAL (MOB PACE)
PRINCESS POPSICLE - held up passing the 100 metres.
PHONE TAP - raced wide early.
MIGHT AS WELL - raced greenly late in the run home and shifted up the track despite the efforts of driver B Orange. Mr Orange reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 4   CURIO BAY SALTHOUSE APARTMENT MOBILE PACE
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - paced roughly on the final bend and in the run home. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
COOL IDEA - raced wide early. When asked to comment on the improved performance trainer C Laurenson advised that the mare had drawn benefit from its previous start after a brief freshen up and today was a significant drop in class of opposition.
TANGIER TANGO - held up late in the run home.
Race 5   MARSHALLS GARAGE LTD MOBILE PACE
TAD LINCOLN - weakened from the 600 metres.
STEP IT UP A NOTCH - the murphy blind was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover.
CALICO HILL - when asked to comment on the performance junior driver T Dewe advised he was not disappointed with the effort given the mare had worked hard in the middle stages and only weakened late.
DARK RAGE - cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 6   SHANE MATHESON LTD CRUTCHING CONTRACTOR TROT
SAGE TROUBLE - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
FOREIGNER - held up early in the run home.
HARRY STAMPER - held up early in the run home.
RUBY SEDDON - trotted roughly in the run home.
DENN NEE'S SISTER - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
WESTLAND PEAK - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
AFTERBURNER - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 7   MLT / PIONEER TAVERN MOBILE PACE
HAZER - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up on the final bend. Paced roughly and broke briefly near the 150 metres.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - came together with AH MACH late in the run home.
AH MACH - came together with FRANCO HUNTINGTON late in the run home.
AMERICAN MAC - held up until late in the run home with junior driver M Hurrell reporting he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
BEEZ NEEZ - out of position at the start. Driver S Ottley was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice.
DODGETHEBULLET - paced roughly throughout. Broke near the 1600 metres losing ground. Weakened on the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 8   CARPET PLUS WILLY'S FLOORING LTD MOBILE PACE
PLATINUM PRINCE - hung outwards and shifted up the track abruptly near the 50 metres having to be corrected by driver B Orange.
NGAROMA - over-raced in the middle stages.
BOBBY VINTON - raced wide early. Held up early in the run home. Paced roughly near the 150 metres.
SLY TRICKS - raced wide early.
MATAI CHARLOTTE - held up throughout the run home.
STILL ROCKIN - broke early in the score-up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
THE MIGHTY MONDO - hampered by a breaking runner in the score-up however was in position at the start. Cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
ROCK MY MIND - hampered by a breaking runner in the score-up however was in position at the start. Raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
Race 9   UDY'S GRAIN & FEED LTD MOBILE PACE
AIRWAVES - briefly hampered by an outside runner racing into the first bend.
MACH'S BACK - lay inwards and paced roughly racing into the first bend when wide on the track and briefly hampered an inside runner. Lay inwards again leaving the final bend.
MACANDREW AVIATOR - lay inwards throughout the run home. Junior driver M Hill reported he elected not to release the removable deafeners.
WARLOCH - paced roughly shortly after the start.
