Race 1   CRATE & BARREL LEESTON TROT
FAR MORE ZEALOUS - broke at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Locked wheels with T K NIHILATOR near the 450 metres with driver P Davis being dislodged from the sulky. Driver P Davis was attended to by St John Paramedics and stood down from his remaining driving engagements due to sustaining a wrist injury. Mr Davis was advised to provide a medical clearance prior to resuming driving. A post-race veterinary examination of FAR MORE ZEALOUS revealed superficial abrasions however was cleared of injury.
T K NIHILATOR - broke briefly at the start. Broke near the 1500 metres hampering a trailing runner. Broke again near the 450 metres and locked wheels with FAR MORE ZEALOUS with its driver being dislodged from the sulky. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver S Clarke reported that he had difficulty with the attachment to the sulky of the half hopples during the running and will be making adjustments to the length of them prior to the horse resuming.
NORDIC PRINCE - trotted roughly in the run home.
MICKEY D - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Stood on the mark losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
SUPERFAST WHIZZ - trotted roughly in the run home.
HEAVENLY STRINGS - raced wide early stages. Trotted roughly over the final 100 metres and was unable to be fully driven out.
VERTIGO - slow over the early stages losing ground.
DIEDRE FRANCO - trotted roughly in the run home.
SUNNY LOUIS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SILK JACKET - broke near the 300 metres. Treated by the Veterinarian following the race for a laceration to the right front leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
TAKE NOTICE - checked and broke near the 450 metres.
Race 2   STEPHANIE MURRAY MORTGAGES FASHION IN THE FIELD MOB PACE
PURE COURAGE - hung outwards throughout the run home and shifted up the track.
MAGICAL MILES - over-raced rounding the first bend. Held up late in the run home.
ALCIPPE'S DELIGHT - raced wide early stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Thornley explained that the mare had worked hard in the early stages to obtain a forward position with the effort taking its toll.
HUTASA - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MAMMA MIA - broke in the score-up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
ALL TOGETHER NOW - briefly hampered by a breaking runner after 200 metres. Raced wide early stages then raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
WHITE DIAMOND GOLD - held up early stages of the run home.
LONE WOLF - paced roughly late in the run home. Driver T McMillan was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion near the 200 metres.
WATCH ME - broke briefly after 200 metres. Paced roughly leaving the final bend before breaking again near the 300 metres when shifting ground in search of clear racing room. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Cox reported that the mare had over-raced throughout.
Race 3   CHRIS JONES- BAYLEYS REAL ESTATE PACE
BUENA VISTA - paced roughly in the run home.
ATOMIC TRAVELLER - ran wide racing over the crossing near the 1700 metres when leading despite the efforts of driver J Morrison. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
GRONKOWSKI - tangled away.
MCCRIKEY - raced wide early stages. Held up early stages of the run home then broke when laying outwards near the 250 metres.
TROUBLE SUPREME - raced wide early stages.
BEYOND A SHADOW - held up early stages of the run home.
ART CRACKER - had to be steadied near the 1500 metres when there was a slight easing of the pace resulting in the over-check becoming detached.
LUNAR LEGEND - began awkwardly.

ART COLLECTOR - raced wide early stages.
DISMARA - raced wide early stages.
MISS HATHAWAY - trainers S & A Telfer (T Williams as agent) admitted a breach of Rule 865(2) in that the mare was presented to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
STAR CASINO - raced wide early stages.
RAFA NOVAK - held up throughout the run home.
ROCKIN VA VA - held up early stages of the run home.
ESSENCE OF EASTON - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until late in the run home.
WITH GRACE - raced wide from the 600 metres.

MAGNIFIQUE DIMANCHE - driver K Cox reported that the mare had been striking the wheel discs after over-racing during the running.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early stages of the run home.
BOURBON ON THE ROCKS - broke briefly near the 1500 metres.
READY I AM - hung inwards throughout the run home.
CALL THIS FUN - broke near the 1450 metres.
CLASSIC CALL - broke near the 150 metres.
SOUTH PARK - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer S Lock.
ILLEGAL ALIEN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres.
MOONS WAY - broke shortly after the start and again after 200 metres losing all chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a standing start prior to resuming.
MERLOT - trotted roughly in the run home.
Race 6   SELWYN DISTRICT COUNCIL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
FAZE OF GLORY - struck track markers rounding the final bend. Driver D van Til was spoken to advisedly for the manner in which she drove on the final bend.
WHISKEY CAVALIER - over-raced middle stages. Held up throughout the run home. Driver B Hope reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners.
BETTERWITHBLING - raced wide early stages.
GYPSY - raced wide early stages. Driver K Tomlinson was spoken to advisedly for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
RENKO - had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200 metres.
REFLECTIONSOFMYLIFE - struck a track marker leaving the final bend when trailing FAZE OF GLORY.
MARK DUNNETT - raced wide without cover from the 900 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Newman reported the gelding had been unsuited to racing wide on the track.
SOMEDREAMSOMEWHERE - crowded near the 250 metres and had to be steadied.
KOWHAI SHADOW - lay inwards in the run home briefly crowding an inside runner near the 250 metres.
Race 7   NZB AIRFREIGHT PACE
MICK BETH - shifted inwards after 250 metres checking ROYAL JESTER which in turn checked the trailing CHANGEOVER JO with both runners breaking losing ground. Junior driver B Hope (assisted by M Williamson) admitted driving carelessly in this incident and after viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hope's licence from the conclusion of racing on 30 January up to and including 7 February 2022 (3 days).
LITTLE GEE - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages.
NOT OVER - placed in restricted room late in the run home and had to be steadied.
HE'S TOUGH - paced roughly and broke near the 250 metres. Stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
LE POLE DANCER - paced roughly final bend. Broke inside the final 50 metres hampering a trailing runner and continued on in a break over the finish line. Stewards lodged a Protest against 2nd placing being awarded alleging the mare was lapped on by the 3rd placed ANGEL OF MONTANA and 4th placed NOT OVER. After viewing the replays and hearing from Stewards and driver B Orange (LE POLE DANCER) along with reviewing the photo finish, the Adjudicative Committee promoted ANGEL OF MONTANA to 2nd placing however after reviewing the photo finish determined that LE POLE DANCER was not lapped on by NOT OVER and the Protest in relation to that runner was dismissed.
ROYAL JESTER - checked and broke after 250 metres.
CHANGEOVER JO - checked and broke after 250 metres. Over-raced middle stages.
KUSANOVA - over-raced middle stages.
WESTBURN BLISS - began awkwardly.
Race 8   CANTERBURY TROTTING OWNERS ASSN SUMMER HANDICAP PACE
A false start was declared due to the 10 metre barrier strand failing to activate. There was a further delay to the start due to TEDS LEGACY requiring a sulky change after breaking a sulky shaft.
RAZORS EDGE - held up early stages of the run home.
MOTOR MOUTH - broke at the start losing ground.
EASTWOOD ISABELLA - held up by a weakening runner from the 650 metres.
TEDS LEGACY - held up by a weakening runner from the 650 metres.
SAM'S TOWN - raced wide early stages.
ARTATAC - raced wide until reaching the lead near the 1900 metres. Weakened from the 650 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days with trainer M Jones.
MIDFREW LUISIANABEAU - broke at the start.
HOMEBUSH LAD - began awkwardly.
KISS THE GIRLS - broke at the start. Raced three wide without cover from the 1400 metres.
Race 9   PAUL RENWICK JOINERY FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
SHEELASINLEAGUE - paced roughly near the 1500 metres and had to be steadied. Weakened final bend. Treated by the Veterinarian following the race for a laceration to the near hind leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
PLAY PHILLY - lay outwards over the concluding stages.
KATHERINE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver J Young-Grant reported that the mare races best with cover and she had been unable to improve her position in the middle stages due to the three wide line not becoming established leaving her poorly positioned at the rear of the field on the final bend. Miss Young-Grant added that due to this she was not disappointed with the effort of the mare.
MAREN FRANCO - held up for the majority of the run home. Paced roughly near the 50 metres.
Race 10   PETER SMITH (DEAKS ELECTRICAL) TROT
GREENBANK BETTY - broke near the 1700 metres when racing over the crossing. Broke again near the 900 metres and in the run home. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
AWESOME IMPEE - broke at the start losing ground. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner after 100 metres.
ROGIE FALLS - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Hampered and broke again near the 1000 metres.
HANOVER DA MOON - lay inwards near the 200 metres and when being corrected shifted outwards briefly hampering outside runners.
DD'S SUPER STUART - had to be steadied near the 150 metres when briefly hampered.
STEEL DUST - broke near the 1000 metres.
PRINCE RANIER - held up early in the run home. Had to be steadied near the 150 metres when briefly hampered.
