A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stood down to trial in a competitive manner to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to resuming. | |

OUR COUNTDOWN - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 300 metres. Driver B Williamson defended a charge alleging that he drove carelessly near the 450 metres when allowing his runner to strike the sulky wheel of INSIST THE WIN when racing to the inside of that runner resulting in the tyre puncturing. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr Williamson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 January 2022 up to and including 28 January 2022 (2 days). Mr Williamson reported he would now be sending the filly for a spell and making gear changes prior to resuming. | |

TOMMY WATERHOUSE - shifted outwards abruptly early in the home straight after junior driver M Hill activated removable gear. Shifted ground inwards from the 150 metres when being driven out dictating DOCTOR TIM inwards onto ESPECIAL which was checked near the 100 metres and onto BETTASTAR which struck track markers late in the run home and had to be restrained. The payment of dividends was withheld until drivers S O'Reilly (DOCTOR TIM) and N Williamson (BETTASTAR) could view footage of the run home with a view to protesting against 1st placing being awarded to TOMMY WATERHOUSE on the grounds that this runner had shifted inwards in the run home hampering their progress. After viewing the films, both drivers withdrew their intent and elected not to proceed with a Protest with all placings duly confirmed. A warning was placed on the racing record of TOMMY WATERHOUSE. Junior driver M Hill (TOMMY WATERHOUSE) will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove in the run home. | |
