Race 1   UPPERCUTS BUTCHERY MOBILE PACE
LIVY DESMA - held up on the final bend.
STILTON LORD - paced roughly after 150 metres and had to be steadied. Under pressure from the 1200 metres and weakened from the 900 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stood down to trial in a competitive manner to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to resuming.
STILL ROCKIN - paced roughly when under pressure on the final bend.
RAKAJED - lay inwards on the final bend and in the run home.
ROCKNROLL LOVER - held up on the final bend. Lay inwards over the concluding stages and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of LIVY DESMA just prior to the finish line.
STEP IT UP A NOTCH - raced wide early.
MONGOLIAN MACHETE - connections advised this horse has been gelded since last racing. Raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field. Had to be steadied near the 1800 metres after a slight easing of the pace.
DURRANT - broke early in the score-up however recovered to be in its allocated barrier position at the dispatch.
THE MIGHTY MONDO - connections advised this gelding has undergone a wind operation since last racing.
Race 2   NEVELE R STUD MOBILE PACE
YOU SAID IT - held up leaving the final bend.
PHONE TAP - hung outwards racing into the first bend. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised she had difficulty steering the mare throughout.
HUNTING WEIGHT - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
TIGERS WATCHING - broke briefly in the score-up. Out of position at the start. Raced wide early. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer C Barron.
ANN MAREE - the rein pricker was removed prior to the start due to the filly warming up unfavourably. Out of position at the start. Raced wide early.
TASHS BAD GIRL - out of position at the start.
SEVENTH HEAVEN - held up on the final bend.
THREETIMESBETTER - cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 3   EH BALL ITM MOBILE PACE
ZACH LOWE - held up early in the run home.
ONEDIN HURRICANE - held up on the final bend and throughout the run home with junior driver E Barron reporting she did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - paced roughly shortly after the start. Raced wide early.
PORT AU PRINCE - raced wide early.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Morrison. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide early. Held up on the final bend and early in the run home.
IDEAL ROBYN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver C Ferguson. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Mr Ferguson was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
ARLO MAGUIRE - out of position at the candy pole and start. Junior driver M Hurrell was issued with a warning.
UNSURPASSABLE - held up on the final bend.
I'M WATCHING YOU - raced wide early. Again raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
SASSY'S VC - weakened leaving the final bend hampering trailing runners.
Race 4   REGENT CAR COURT HANDICAP TROT
EILISH HALL - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver K Barclay advised she would be recommending gear changes prior to the gelding racing next.
SAGE TROUBLE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
SUNDONS FLYER - the near side sulky shaft broke at the quick hitch connection passing the 45 metres resulting in driver S Ottley having to restrain the mare. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - held up throughout the run home.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke at the start.
MISS JESSICA - weakened on the final bend.
LAURIES LEGACY - backed away prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MISS CRAZED - held up throughout the run home with junior driver K Tomlinson reporting she did not activate the sliding blinds or release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
JIMMY CARTER - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
Race 5   GOODMAN PLUMBING MOBILE PACE
CHANGEAROUND - held up leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BRIGADIERS SON - weakened on the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Morrison expressed his disappointment however could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer D McLachlan advised he would give consideration to sending the gelding for a spell.
DANGEROUS - weakened on the final bend.
ROBYNS SHADOW - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PROVISEUR - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 8.00am. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to racing next.
EMERALD ABBEY - raced wide early.
LYNRYD SKYNRYD - shifted inwards into the passing lane in the run home. Junior driver K Tomlinson (assisted by B Williamson) was spoken to advisedly to ensure she leaves the passing lane clear for trailing runners.
WRECKING BALL - broke early in the score-up however recovered to be in its allocated barrier position at the dispatch. Raced wide from the 800 metres. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
HAZER - over-raced early. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
DARK RAGE - weakened on the final bend.
Race 6   MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE
EMMA STONE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
TANGIER TANGO - hung inwards and broke briefly near the 400 metres losing ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
MIDNITETRAINTOGEORGA - held up by a weakening runner on the final bend.
COOL IDEA - raced wide early. Weakened on the final bend.
INSARCHATWIST - raced wide early. Driver K Barclay reported the hanging bit had pulled through the mare's mouth over the concluding stages causing her some steering difficulty.
SWEDISH STARLET - trainer B Gray was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice when presenting this mare without the notified sliding blinds. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
PRIMA DONNA - hung inwards in the early stages of the run home and had to be corrected by its driver.
BIZZIE LOU - when asked to comment on the improved performance connections advised the mare has been racing without luck in previous starts, had performed well in a recent workout and they were not surprised by the forward showing today.
Race 7   WOODLANDS STUD GOLD CHIP FINAL (HCP TROT)
MIXED FAITH - broke near the 200 metres.
DONALD TRUMP - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
TEASE MY TARTAN - tangled away. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide from the 800 metres. Weakened on the final bend.
PYRAMID MYSTIC - weakened from the 400 metres.
OUR COUNTDOWN - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 300 metres. Driver B Williamson defended a charge alleging that he drove carelessly near the 450 metres when allowing his runner to strike the sulky wheel of INSIST THE WIN when racing to the inside of that runner resulting in the tyre puncturing. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr Williamson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 January 2022 up to and including 28 January 2022 (2 days). Mr Williamson reported he would now be sending the filly for a spell and making gear changes prior to resuming.
INSIST THE WIN - driver L Pearson reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 450 metres.
TWO MENNY MUSCLES - the murphy blind was removed prior to the start due to the mare warming up unfavourably. Broke near the 1700 metres. Driver J Morrison reported he had some difficulty steering the mare throughout the race. Connections advised they would be making gear changes prior to this mare racing next.
TONY MAC - raced wide early. Trotted roughly in the run home.
HARRY STAMPER - the boring pole was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Raced wide early.
DWINDLE STAR - weakened on the final bend.
DOMINATION'S CALL - briefly hampered by a breaking runner after 200 metres.
GRANNY ROSE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1900 metres and broke in consequence, losing considerable ground. Weakened on the final bend.
SHEZA GIFT - raced wide early.
Race 8   ALABAR NZ LTD NUGGET FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
FOXFIRE EASTON - weakened leaving the final bend.
CAPTAIN STARLIGHT - weakened leaving the final bend.
IDEAL DANCE - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 6.20pm after being found to be lame in the right hind leg after completing its preliminary.
MIGHTHAVTIME - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay could offer no explanation.
SPEIGHTS ON TAP - weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer B McLellan regarding the progress of the horse in the coming days.
Race 9   BRECKON FARMS MOBILE PACE
BETTASTAR - crowded late in the run home by outside runners, striking several track markers and had to be restrained.
ESPECIAL - checked near the 100 metres by an outside runner having to be heavily restrained.
FIREBALL - held up leaving the final bend.
PAY ME SPEEDY - raced wide early.
CAST A SHADOW - held up early in the run home.
AIRWAVES - raced wide early. Over-raced in the middle stages before weakening on the final bend.
TOMMY WATERHOUSE - shifted outwards abruptly early in the home straight after junior driver M Hill activated removable gear. Shifted ground inwards from the 150 metres when being driven out dictating DOCTOR TIM inwards onto ESPECIAL which was checked near the 100 metres and onto BETTASTAR which struck track markers late in the run home and had to be restrained. The payment of dividends was withheld until drivers S O'Reilly (DOCTOR TIM) and N Williamson (BETTASTAR) could view footage of the run home with a view to protesting against 1st placing being awarded to TOMMY WATERHOUSE on the grounds that this runner had shifted inwards in the run home hampering their progress. After viewing the films, both drivers withdrew their intent and elected not to proceed with a Protest with all placings duly confirmed. A warning was placed on the racing record of TOMMY WATERHOUSE. Junior driver M Hill (TOMMY WATERHOUSE) will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove in the run home.
MACH'S BACK - over-raced early. Raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
ART COURAGE - connections advised this mare would be racing in foal. Trainer M House (T Dewe as agent) admitted a breach of Rule 865(1) when being late to notify this mare would be racing without hopples and was fined $150 by the Adjudicative Committee. Over-raced in the middle stages.
DOCTOR TIM - dictated inwards by TOMMY WATERHOUSE in the middle stages of the run home checking ESPECIAL before crowding BETTASTAR late in the run home.
