The connections of VALYNDA advised that the mare has recovered well following her run at Roxburgh and will continue with the current preparation.
Race 11 - COMBINED SPONSORS MOBILE PACE
Trainer S Breen advised Stewards on 13 January that AMERICAN MAC has recovered well following its run at Roxburgh with Mr Breen of the opinion that the gelding had not travelled well with this contributing to the performance.
Nelson HRC - Sunday, 9th January 2022
Race 3 - NELSON OTB / ESPRESSO CARWASH PACE
Trainer P Burrows advised Stewards on 16 January that RAKERO'S DELIGHT has recovered well since returning from her Nelson assignment and will continue with her current preparation. Mr Burrows added that the filly had got stirred up prior to the race and this contributed to her poor performance.

Driver J Geddes (RAZORS EDGE) admitted a charge that he drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards in the middle stages of the home straight when insufficiently clear of DAGGY LAMB which was checked and broke in consequence. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Geddes' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today 16 January up to and including 30 January (4 days).

Junior driver A Cameron (assisted by M Purvis) was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home when driving QUARTERBACK.

FAR MORE ZEALOUS - hung inwards and broke racing into the first bend and continued on in a break for some distance. Lost a bell boot during the running.
KOHLI TROUBLE - broke passing the 75 metres.
DRAGONS SUNRISE - broke rounding the first bend. Driver C Butt reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
NORDIC PRINCE - trotted roughly in the run home.
SUNNY SON - broke leaving the final bend.
ROSE ISLE - over-raced and trotted roughly in the middle stages. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
RUTHLESS LIZZIE - when questioned regarding the improved performance connections advised the mare had benefitted from significant standing start practice in recent times. Cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
PRESIDENT PAT - lay inwards racing over the crossing near the 500 metres. Broke leaving the final bend. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
JESPER FAST - raced wide early.

YOU FLY WITH ME - held up early in the run home.

MOSSDALE TERRY - held up until late in the run home and had to shift ground outwards to obtain clear running. Junior driver B Hope had some difficulty releasing the removable deafeners passing the 75 metres.
FLEETING MAJOR - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.

ALI LINDENNY - weakened on the final bend.
SIOUX PRINCESS - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again near the 400 metres when being steadied to avoid a breaking runner.
ISLA ELSIE - the Boring Pole was removed prior to the start due to the mare warming up unfavourably. Broke racing into the first bend when wide on the track, losing ground. Broke again near the 300 metres.
MAJESTIC JAG - trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be driven out by driver J Dunn.
BAXTER - raced keenly in the middle stages. Broke near the 400 metres losing all chance.
Race 6   PAK 'N SAVE MOBILE PACE
WHISKEY CAVALIER - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
CONQUER ME - held up throughout the run home.
SONGBIRD - lay inwards on various occasions during the running.

ZIA BROMAC - lay inwards on the final bend and struck track markers.
DALNESS FIRST - lay inwards on the final bend and struck track markers.
CAB CALLOWAY - raced wide early.
NED KELLY - out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Shifted inwards shortly after the start crowding an inside runner. Driver R Houghton was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Weakened on the final bend.
SOPHIA BROMAC - raced wide early. Held up throughout the run home with junior driver S O'Reilly reporting she did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
THE OPTIMIST - raced keenly through the middle stages.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - over-raced through the middle stages. Driver P Davis was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
ACENTO - crowded shortly after the start having to steady. Raced wide throughout.
Race 8   FARMLANDS 'PASSING LANE' TROT
ANNA'S BOY - slow through the early stages.
THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT - held up until late in the run home.
SHIFFTY - over-raced early and was reported by driver G Smith to be striking the sulky discs.
SOUTH PARK - broke passing the 800 metres. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
GOOSE HEALY - paced away before breaking at the start losing ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts. Broke again after 150 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MAKE MY SUNDON - broke near the 1100 metres. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Broke again racing over the crossing near the 550 metres losing all chance.
SUPERFAST GORSEY - held up early in the run home.
Race 9   SUPER LIQUOR GROVE ROAD & BOYCE STREET HANDICAP PACE
PENNETTA - weakened leaving the final bend.
JOURNO - hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend after racing over the crossing and struck and dislodged a track marker.
CHANGEOVER JO - over-raced in the middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - broke briefly racing over the crossing rounding the first bend. Paced roughly in the run home. Driver R Houghton was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
EXPRESSIVE LOVE - tangled away.
LE POLE DANCER - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1600 metres. Held up early in the run home and raced erratically when being shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running.
JUSTACE - tangled away. Over raced passing the 1400 metres and made contact with the sulky wheel of TAS GIRL BROMAC despite the efforts of driver R Close, with the tyre punctured as a consequence.
MRS BEAU K - jumped a dislodged track marker rounding the first bend and broke briefly. Weakened from the 600 metres.
EL SIRRAR - weakened from the 600 metres.
JUST HOLLA - trainer J Harrington was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for the late notification that this gelding would be wearing blinds.
TAS GIRL BROMAC - eased out of the race passing the 800 metres after receiving a punctured sulky tyre.
Race 10   THE BLENHEIM SUN NEWSPAPER MARLBOROUGH CUP (HCP PACE)
There was a slight delay to the start due HOMEBUSH LAD and BOOM briefly locking wheels as the field addressed the barrier strand.
DASHING MAJOR - broke briefly at the start.
HILARIOUS PRINCE - shifted inwards rounding the first bend crowding GOT YOU COVERED which had to check. Junior driver S Iremonger (assisted by K Cameron) admitted a charge that he drove carelessly rounding the first bend when shifting ground inwards when insufficiently clear of GOT YOU COVERED which was checked and lost its rightful racing position. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Iremonger's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 4 February 2022 (5 days). Compounded rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right front leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
GOT YOU COVERED - crowded and checked rounding the first bend losing ground. Badly hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
HOMEBUSH LAD - badly hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
TEAGAN BANNER - tangled away. Raced wide from the 1500 metres and without cover from the 1000 metres.
KIWI X FACTOR - began awkwardly.

MOSSDALE BEN - lay inwards rounding the final bend and struck track markers. Held up early in the run home.
ARIZONAWILDCAT - lay inwards rounding the final bend and struck track markers.
